Do I jam or minraise KJo in this bubble situation? Do I jam or minraise KJo in this bubble situation?

Last week I played a 5-handed 20 euro rebuy tournament with four friends. 8 Rebuys later we have a 1st prize of 180 euros and a 2nd prize of 80 euros.

After I knock the second player out we've arrived at the bubble, and it's one of the first hands of the bubble that got me thinking.

In total there's 52 BB in play at this point.

I'm sitting at 32 BB on the Button with KJo, SB has 8 BB and BB has 12 BB. It might be relevant to note that the 12 BB player is probably exactly as good (or as bad) of a poker player as me and the 8 BB player doesn't really have an understanding of the game.

My question is: do I jam KJo here or do I minraise, and why?

A jam is always +EV, but a minraise might actually be the better play. KJo seems a relatively playable hand to me in position and I guess I can decide to fold when I minraise and the 12 BB player jams?

I just jam here at 12 bb effective stack.

If I minraise then somebody might jam with hands like A4s and while I would always call the SB and probably call the BB, its a bad spot. Whereas if we jam hands like A4o will likely fold.

There could be situations where I am playing with somebody who calls pre-flop raises loosely, and then always folds to a cbet when they miss. In that spot I would minraise.

Jam is better. You don't want to raise/fold; you want to use the pressure of the bubble to force the blinds to fold hands they might play or rejam otherwise. You can get KQ and Ax and small pairs to fold and that's a big win for you.

A jam is higher EV, because you force the 12BB player to fold a lot of hands, that he can jam over your min-raise. Like small pairs, weak aces and KQ. Even a hand as strong as AJ dont love calling it off from his perspective. You are not looking to get away from KJ here and allow him to chip up. You are looking to blind him down further, and he happen to wake up with a premium hand, then so be it. You are still going to be the chip leader, so its far from a disaster.
