Hi guy's. I'm interested in trying to ascertain if these form's of satellites where you start with 10K chips and have to reach say 100K can also be won useing a mixed Cash Out/ regular survival type satellite strategy?

This thought occurred to me as I have witnessed a player getting down to 3/100 plus runners more than once with roughly half the target stack. As he had no decent hands to double up with and ICM being so important he applied a regular strategy and when player 3 shoved him and player 2 won ticket's.

So I'm interested to hear from Satellite expert's is this something that usually happens? Like in most Cash Out satellites ? And if so when would the ICM become relevant. On the immediate bubble or a few places before it?

I'm not currently in Vegas so can't ask the said player I'm referring to.
