Don't be ashamed to step down in limits. I stepped down to $3/18's to grind up without worrying too much about variance. Once I was back up over $350, I mixed in 3/45's and 6/18's. I stayed away from MTT's that were too big - stayed at $5 and less, no rebuys.
I also had a few smallish stakes from people - 100 12/180's was one. Broke even for the stake, but the first 50 games were part of my downswing, then I came back to break even, which helped the confidence.
I also ran good at a few small MTT's, including a couple FT's, which helped out.
Finally, I had a bit of money on FTP, so I played the $3 KO (90 player) tourneys, which are quite soft, as well as a few sats to win $26 tokens. I won a few tokens and then FT'd a $32k guaranteed for ~1.6k.
