are suited connecters good hands to shove 10BB 3handed in a FR sng ?

Fill-my-pouch
Disclaimers: As far as I know. I play hypers, so adjust to even more careful/conservative if it's non-hyper.
10 BB is the traditional cut off after which you can start shoving. So if the connectors are low, I wouldn't do it. For shoving at this point I'd still stick to premium and semi-premiums. A semi-premium would be a mid range suited connector, for instance JTs. It's better than lower connectors because you're aprox. 50/50 against low pairs.

The video doesn't work. Anyway, my advise is to not play Stars if you're starting. Hope I'm allowed to say this.

On 23/4/14 I decided to have a crack at building a solid roll playing SnG's Good news is that im going ok, bad news is ive jumped on a few cash games and not done so well I lost close to 40-45 buy-in multitable 2nl zoom and normal 6 max - the good news is built my roll back up
so until I can get a roll together to able to play MTT ill be grinding out on the SnG
Hows my game look on paper so far? it this standard or too swingy

Hi, this is a good place to discuss this question. Please don't blog about your daily progress and so on, there is a poker goals forum for that. This way almost all of the posts are strategy related, except specific threads. If you start a strategy thread then it should be phrased in the form of a hand and decision you are having problems with. That is why I moved these posts to the beginner's thread.

As far as the image looks like it is hosted on some kind of blocked site. Always use an image rehoster like imgur.com This prevents viruses and so on.

Hi guys, I'm new to online poker, played cash but not doing so well, so decided to try tournaments. I did the $1.10 one, $3 one and finally a $5 one. I was able to get back my money on the first 2 and I came in 7th on my $5 one profitting $30.

Is this a good start for beginner? Any video links for MTT strategies? What tips would you give a new MTT grinder?

I intended on playing 4500 htt stt this month.
After 300 games i am 40$ up, meaning my bankroll should be $290
All great news.

However, often i see a scheduled tournaments with just a few players left during late reg and i register for it to give it a shot. Since the buyins will be less than 2% of my bankroll, i dont mind playing it.
More important though, it keep things different. Something to do while im grinding the sng's.

However, occasionally i dont get itm like 4-5 times in a row, resulting in a br loss of around $20

tl;dr ... My question:
How do i keep myself from regging other games?
How can i (slightly!)distract myself while grinding, to keep things more "lively"?

Thank you for reading this post. Would appreciate on what your thoughts are and what your approach is

Discipline, get motivated by listen to some music while playing, hand reviews etc
What stakes are you playing ?
I am running sng home games on stars when we get enough players together I made a post last week or so, then we'll discuss our plays and hand history reviews
If your interested send me a PM and I'll give you the details

I believe you should not distract, even slightly. If you're getting bored, or feel like you have time to see facebook, etc, you should add more tables.

One of the strongest traits of a champion is discipline.

Add in some consistency, heart, and faith. You then are on your way to a potential champ.

Fwiw, this belongs in Beginners section.

Go to 'Requests | Responsible Gaming | Restrict Tournament Buy-In Limit' in the Stars client. Click the 'DON't PLAY (restrict all)' button under 'Tournament Max Buy-In'.

I enjoy playing MTTs as well but I've learned I can't do both at once. A set of hypers deserves my full attention.

Block yourself from MTTs and watch TV or listen to music/podcasts while you grind.

Also maybe start posting in the beginners thread and/or start a blog thread in Poker Goals and Challenges. This subforum is for solely in game strat advice.

Merge - $1+$.10|<HYPER> NL (6 max) - Holdem - 5 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

BTN: 12.5 BB (VPIP: 0.00, PFR: 0.00, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 4)
Hero (SB): 9 BB
BB: 26.5 BB (VPIP: 75.00, PFR: 75.00, 3Bet Preflop: -, Hands: 4)
UTG: 6 BB (VPIP: 50.00, PFR: 0.00, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 4)
CO: 6 BB (VPIP: 25.00, PFR: 0.00, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 4)

Hero posts SB 0.5 BB, BB posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.5 BB) Hero has 7 8

fold, CO calls 1 BB, fold, HERO?

Yes it's a dumb spot ... wasn't sure if I should call, fold - or shove. If it were suited I would probably for sure shove but wasn't clear on the unsuitedness if you guys are still shoving over the limper.

I'm just getting started in hypers as a way to fill in the windows while grinding MTTS when I'm down to just a few tables in the grind at the end of a session and don't have time to load up more big MTTs. Thanks for the help.

Nobody raised and you are in the bb, so folding probably is not the best option.
Check.
But, better yet: don't play hypers with 10% rake.

o i was wrong - it's only 9%! 1.01+.09 haha

stars isn't too far off - i think it's 7% for their 1.50 sng hypers... still makes me very :'( to even go on there and verify...

Lazy answer: 300 buy-ins, but it depends how good you are, how much bankroll risk you can tolerate, and whether you're willing and able to move down stakes if you hit a bad run.

Merge just gutted their VIP program and also discontinued their SNG leader boards which offered good value for hyper grinders up to $33 stakes. Now it's 10% rake return for VIP points (via tournament entry) plus a few low-value promos.

I just found these hyper STT's, played a few $1.50 and they seem really soft, getting horrible shoves & calls all the time.

Would a pure shove or fold strategy work in these? You start out with a 25bb stack.
It might not be optimal, but think it's not too far from it either? Especially at the lower stakes?
Could play like 20+ tables that way?
Beginner/Basic Question Thread Quote

Pretty sure micros can be beaten with solely p/f, but this is far from optimal and makes no sense, cause you won't be able to get decent $/h and I can't imagine that it's fun either.

well with only a 25bb stack at the start I don't think it's that far from optimal, especially with no one watching how we play

stacks go to 5-15bb really fast so
Beginner/Basic Question Thread Quote
06-16-2014 , 08:58 PM
It is EXTREMELY far from optimal, please only use this strategy if you like making the bare minimum and have no interest in playing well or improving

In 6max if I`m UTG and I shove and get called 40% of the time, what is the calling range per position of the other players?

Is the EV line for 6max HT sng any accurate / reliable at all? I always kinda misstrust it when there is a big bubble like here.
