No read on V

UTG: 55.62 BB
MP: 47.63 BB
CO: 67.38 BB
BTN: 143.37 BB
Hero (SB): 36.88 BB
BB: 93.72 BB

6 players post ante of 0.13 BB, Hero posts SB 0.5 BB, BB posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 2.25 BB) Hero has A Q

UTG raises to 2 BB, fold, fold, BTN calls 2 BB, Hero raises to 10 BB, fold, UTG calls 8 BB, fold

Flop: (23.75 BB, 2 players) T 9 7
Hero ??? (remaining stack = 26BB)

- checking feels like giving up already, which feels bad with so much in the middle
- betting small accomplishes nothing (even the broadways will call with 2OC + gutshot, or things like that)
- betting big commits me, almost drawing dead agains better hands...

I would flat call preflop BB versus UTG or maybe shove.

It is a difficult situation, as this is one of the worst flops for your hand and you have about pot left.

You are usually not drawing dead at all with overcards and a a backdoor straight draw. However, I am not sure if you can shove.

What was the plan when raising this size? Were you planning to shove flops you miss with more low cards and bet small when you hit?

With tighter UTG range against unknown villain I would sway towards a call pre. As played I would check call any bet 1/2 pot or less. I would give up on unfavourable turn.

You cannot x/c with pot left. Are you hoping for it to be checked down and you are ahead? You may have too much equity with your over cards and back door to b/f. I would shove or maybe x/f. I am not sure those are right, but I am not sure what else to do. You have equity against a pair and there is so much in the pot, so I am not crazy about folding.

Dont mind the 3bet sizing, especially if you think if the opener or caller likes to see flops. A shove is probably fine too. Its kinda awkward. I dont think im shoving vs a minr and a call, but if it was a larger open, then maybe.

Im just c/fing this flop. This may even be a range check. We really only have TT+ for value and a lot of AK/AQ. 32 combos of AK/AQ v 27 combos of TT+. And villain will very likely have decent equity vs our value range if our shove gets called. Villain has more sets and probably a few two pairs that we dont (unless you are squeezing T9s, which I dont like, not deep enough). It is important to check your strong hands too so your opponent cant just print money betting overs against you.

On a dry board that is better for our range a 1/4 pot bet with almost all of it is called for.

Thanks guys !

I squeezed pre because I didn't want to play this hand 3 or 4 ways OOP.
In game I didn't realized that SPR would be 1 OTF to be honnest.

Is 3betting 7BB or 8BB instead of 10 an option here ? With a shallowish effective stack, maybe villains call with the same range whatever the 3bet size ?
And it gives me a little bit more playability post flop. IDK...

It's UTG 6 max, so LJ.
I thought V would fold a lot to a 3bet here.

But he just arrived at the table, and it's a small stakes tourney on a Saturday, so it was probably an optimistic assumption

I think maybe in this situation with this hand, I would x/f on this flop, shove on flops we miss that are better for our hand and range (for example choppy low or K high flops), and cbet 1/4 with top pair.
