Considering my last post in here was nearly 5 years ago

Coincidentally, that post happened to be about how sorely lacking (in post count) the $#!& had become!

Oh no! I don't have it anymore either.

But if there are any other misogynist morons that start spouting bullshit about female sports reporters, I'll happily have one tell them to STFU, kthnxbye

Unfortunately we germans have a lot of small businesses. I work at one of those. One of our main products is our event-magazin. We are pretty ****ed. Basically every small business that doesnt have a lot of money in their back is ****ed. Thats like 95% of all businesses.

Not freaking out, but the way government deals with stuff like information or financial help is pretty depressing. Unfortunately Im the one helping our boss manage everything, so Ive spend my last couple days trying to get in contact with institutions and talking to other company owners and Im mentally a wreck by now. Ive grown my first grey beard hairs at 32, will see how it looks and whether I consider that a plus or a negative. But that at least was the signal for me, to stop consuming any kind of media coverage on the corona-virus and only read actual documents put forward by the government on how theyll help their economy.

A few anecdotes:
Two days ago I told another company owner what ways the government has "implemented" to help us out. His reply was "Oh, its so bad for you? We are still doing fine." Today he called me, they are ****ed, he needs all the help he can get and if I can help him file papers and stuff.

One of our distributors already shut down. They lost basically all their customers except for us. But even for us they cant do anything, because they didnt only lose all their customers, most of the places they delivered to have closed. So they couldnt even take our order, because they wouldnt be able to fullfill it. Here is what their boss said he is doing now:
"Well, Im going to a garden center now, get some seeds and start growing veggies in my garden."

Yeah, I hear ya Ronny. People are just this week starting to realize how screwed everything really is.

My life honestly hasn't changed much. I havent talked about it but I've been stuck at home all this year. I had a super rare autoimmune disorder. I woke up in early January with double vision and horrible balance issues. I ended up in the hospital for a week and rehab for another. At the low point I had a hard time walking with a walker. I've been on sick leave since. I'm actually fine now other than I still have double vision but the prison wont let me come back to work till it's gone. So staying home and not working is just how my whole year has been.

Jesus dude be safe. That can't be a good pre-condition for this thing. I think my sister might have the same thing (which I can never remember or pronounce) - she had double vision too until they put her on drugs.

I'll tell you what my boss said the Chinese govt is telling everyone. When you get in from shopping (or anyone who comes into the house) - take off your outer clothes and leave them by the door. Shoes also. Then go wash up thoroughly. A shower is best. After 5 hours of airing out the clothes should be fine.

Also it's starting to look likely that asymptomatic people are contagious. China requires everyone to wear a mask in public. But I think it's more it's to reduce the amount of virus that contagious are spreading, than to protect the wearer.

Ugh that sucks Lacky, at least youve picked the right time to be in quarantine.
Hope you get well soon.

Maybe we can set up a sttf tourney or something like that to get our minds off all the bad stuff.

Dang Lacky, get better!

Corona has pretty much stopped me, my wife and my two kids (who both had jobs) from working. Not entirely, but mostly. I've been at my mom's house helping her most of the time for about a month anyway because she broke her ankle.

Otherwise everything is fine.

GL Ronny and everyone else.

I was going to say I wished we could get good unbiased numbers on if a depression kills more people or the coronavirus. I actually found some though and it was the complete opposite of what I expected. Life expectancy (life span) actually goes up during depressions and goes down during booms. I guess it makes the choice pretty easy. Save lives, let the economy go to hell for a while.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2765209/

That said I feel awful for everyone thrown out of work. I hope the government worries more about saving people from financial ruin than businesses this time, but I worry they won't.

Lacky, geez that's tough to hear and pretty scary I can only imagine. Knowing there are goons out there that don't give AF because "iTs JuSt A fLu" really pisses me off because of the vulnerability of so many people.

I'm out of work until sports start getting televised again. So my interest in playing some poker again is peaked, but navigating the online environment is confusing as hell. I've researched quite a bit about where/how and I'm just not confident in anything I'm hearing.

Good luck to everybody. I have a fairly optimistic view that things will start to get back to normal about mid summer...

I don't know how or why,
just "hoping, hoping."

Sorry to hear this Lacky. That’s terrible. Sounds very similar to something a friend of mine just when through. Stay safe!

My wife is going through chemo treatments so I’m trying to be ultra diligent. I’m lucky because I can continue to work from home and have at least a month and half of two months worth of contracts.
