It wasnt my homegame, it was a game we crashed by chance. Funny enough we hadnt talked about cheating, but when my friend did his first deal and I ended up with KK, saw the grin on his face, I knew what we were gonna do.

And at that time I wouldve said: "It's immoral to let a sucker keep his money."

So, no, I didnt cheat.

To be fair, we were the best players at the table regardless and it was a small-stake game.

Hi all, Phil Galfond just sold RunitOnce to Rush Street Interactive which owns the Rivers casinos and BetRivers sportsbook in the US. Cool result for ex-STTFr Jman28

In other news I'm now working for GDC. I'm still writing but sadly now sports betting rather than poker. Anyone interested in a writing gig pm me. That is except Steve, even I couldn't turn him into a writer!

love you all and a belated happy new year!

Happy New Year Joss, hopefully you’ll (also) be writing about California online gaming (Sports+) in the coming year(s).

Was watching the Silicon Valley episode last night where Hooli guy (Googles) his name each morning. So I googled my name + poker.

Turns out the chip-shuffling guy who knocked me out of the ‘08 PCA was Garrett Adelstein, lol. Overalls guy at that table had people bending over in laughter.

https://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/2...rrett+pca+2008

Those peak poker boom years were hell of fun (even when fighting off a nasty bug).

FWIW - I'm close to finishing the first draft of my travel memoir about my road trip from LA to Panama - which started with a visit with Gramps in Tijuana. Gramps you get a bigger cameo in the book than you probably expect - setting me right on a couple of things about how I should treat the people I interact with in Latin America. I was very drunk, but I still paid attention and remembered.

Once the book is done I plan to hit the road again and do South America - either driving to Panama and shipping my car, or shipping it straight from the US to Cartagena. I haven't decided yet. xPeru, it's going to be weird to see your kids in high school after seeing them as little ones.

My plan is to ship my car from Chile to New Zealand after South America, then continue drive as much of the world as I reasonably can, provided another pandemic and/or WWIII isn't raging.

I was already planning to be on the road by now, but covid put a kink in that plan, so I decided to actually write the book. I'll post here when the book is done. It's in the Bill Bryson style with a lot of deep historical information about the places I visited, including a lot of Mesoamerican sites, combined with me getting into some dicey situations, eating a lot of stuff, and doing dumb things.

We also are in the process of setting off. The plan is clear out the house, getting rid of nearly everything (we are in this phase now, it is NOT the fun part). Sell the house/cars/etc. Buy sailboat, travel and learn to live cheap and happy. Wife has already quit, I am just finishing the first week of my two week notice. I was going to work till we got the house sold but we were never going to get it all done in time to be ready by summer so I quit.

Looking forward to reading that book!

ya know suzzer, might want to consider making a youtube channel. I could see an open ended journey like that doing quite well. I'd watch. It would make for a great record of the journey, friends and family could share in it, and if it caught on and did well it could financially help keep things going. My wife is planning to start one for all those reasons when we start sailing.

As long as the main goal is recording and sharing the experience for friends and family its a no lose situation even if it never takes off and becomes a money maker.

!! Hopefully some Californians pay a hefty premium to fund your future adventures Steve.

Probably half my “television” watching the last several years is random YouTube channels from people traveling Mexico, et al or living in Europe.

Same, youtube easily makes up 80% plus of watching time and half of that is sailing/cruising vlogs. House prices have come down a little here but still redic high. Just needs to stay that way a few more months

Sweet. I've been following some van-life nomads on YT - mostly the older people. There's some intersection with sailing people. You've probably seen this but I think there are two posters in OOT who are semi-permanent sailboaters.

Spending 2 days on a 35' sailboat going through the Panama Canal was enough to remind me that sailing around the world on anything smaller than a yacht is *not* on my bucket list.

Yeah I've watched lots of his videos. I haven't looked at OOT, or any thread but this one, in years. Your my go to guy for all solar/battery system questions btw. Hopefully your knowledge extends to small off grid systems

As driving around the world isn't on mine. The pursuit of the dream is the important part. If everyone had the same dream it would be awful crowded.
