Yah, let's dig up old posts and talk smack about them. That'll help us learn to play poker.

The person who dug it up wasn't talking smack about it. If you're going to talk smack yourself, the least you could have done is looked at who bumped it.

I bumped it because someone linked it in a small-stakes MTT thread, and I had read it close to 5x in the past, but in my current breakeven stretch that I'm in the post just hit home, that yeah, variance is a bitch but the only thing we can do is keep playing.

PsYcO,

I definitely don't have any problem with people who like this post. I've held myself back a bit in the past because I didn't want to upset people (i.e. make Yugo cry - but he's mostly gone now). Also, I'm not trying to say that Gigabet is wrong here.

You might want to read the Irieguy post that inspired the Gigabet post if you haven't. Also, you should definitely read the JOEY thread that I linked to in 2007. It was really funny.

I took a lot of comfort in Ed Miller's "When do I know I'm awesome?" article in CP earlier this year.

Yeah, my apologies to the digger-upper because that can be read as suggesting he was talking smack. But the "us" meant "this forum" not "the OP". I appreciate his intentions. Yours, not so much.

"Everybody will eventually run worse than they thought was possible. The difference between a winner and a loser is that the latter thinks they do not deserve it."

Almost fives years since I first read this post and it has finally happened. I am running worse then I ever thought possible, but I guess I deserve it.

Still one of the best OPs I've ever read. Really wish Giga was still posting.

I'm shocked to see the term "+EV" was even used so many many (and in poker terms; many many many many many many many many many ) years ago.
