I think I'd still mostly call here off 27BB. It's probably not a big mistake to 3-bet, and in theory AJs probably calls off 25BB-30BB 4-bet shoves. But that's also predicated on opponents having stuff in their range we're flipping with or ahead of, like some worse suited Ax/Kx or medium pairs. Against population this is just a much better call.

AJs a pure call at these stack depths. Its not quite strong enough to 3bet/call off but its also too strong to 3bet/fold. It also plays very well ip, even multiway.

It could be an exploitable 3bet vs some passive villains.

Thanks for the responses. Hero did flat, wasn't sure if this suited combo is borderline raise/flat

I think I would 3! Against a cutoff open here as co can open fairly wide. I’m fine with flat- I think we wanna 3!/ fold AJo here and AJs we don’t want to get blown off as a 3! Fold. Think I would lean 3! Fold but I’m fine with flat honestly.

You can shove here unexploitably vs an equilibrium open range. If they open wider than equilibrium, you can 3bet to stackoff or shove for big profits depending on whether they 4bet wide, make bad flats vs 3bets, or call 3bets often and check fold too much postflop, etc. If they open significantly tighter than equilibrium I'd just flat, this hand plays way too nice in a single raise pot to 3bet fold it, and you can even call off vs squeezes if CO folds.

I think by GTO ranges and play AJs is largely just a flat here. If you 3-bet it's with intent to call off, and you shouldn't do that often (some small percentage of the time overall in theory, but I'd rather choose a villain who's going to 4-bet wide to do it against). The offsuit big aces play better as a shove, though.

And I agree that you can largely call off to a squeeze if CO folds, unless you know the squeezer has a very tight range for doing so.

I don't love any of the choices here. I guess I would decide based on the players.

If the blinds weren't 3 betting unless they have monsters then I don't mind the call. If the CO is only raising big hands from late position (or anywhere) then I don't mind the call either.

If the CO is normal wide range from late positions and the blinds were tight then I would probably 3x raise. If the blinds were loosish and might call my raise, I would probably shove (though 27 blinds is just a bit too much).

If I had no reads really on any of the players my choice would probably be to 3x raise.
