Advice on taking good notes Advice on taking good notes

Most of my notes consist of things I feel I can quickly exploit. For example, late in 45-player SnGs, I try to note what players will do after limping (limp/fold, or limp/call with the hand they called with).

Some of my notes include: doesnt understand stack sizes, doesnt understand pot odds, stations too wide in blinds, bad at poker. Other than that I just make nots of specific hands they played at whatever blinds, stack size, position, etc.

My notes are sort of a cross between Dunkman's and CBorders's.

I'll make notes of specific lines when villain does something that absolutely means he's a donk. If I would have played it the same, I don't make a specific note of it unless I sit at the same table for long enough where I believe he's a thinking player.

An example would be,
"L1: 3xbbor EP2 T8s, checked thru TT4 flop w 2 behind, crai turn" <--- [made a 3xbb open raise from utg+1/early position 2, checked thru flop and made a check-raise all-in on hte turn]...
"L7: M~9 called M~6's AIR [all-in raise] closing action K9o" and will also put down "Doesn't understand pot odds,"
"Doesn't understand position"
"Just wants to move up final table ladder"
"Doesn't understand inflection points", etc.

A couple suggestions: Always note the blind level and note if their M is <15 since their actions won't be the same at the end of the tournament as htey would in the beginning.

"Notes should really be used in conjunction with PT, neither can play the role of the other." - zedveron

Yeah I can agree with that. PT might be able to tell you how often an opponent bets the turn, but it will never tell you "made a blocking bet of one third of the pot with a flush draw"

Just an example, but they seem pretty decent. Not a whole lot accessible though because of the length, I think I need to put the captions in CAPS.

My notes consist of only people that need to be slowrolled. I assumed thats what the notes were primarily used for.

I dont know if this has already been said (tldr) but i like to know who limp folds/limp calls.
Peoples calling range, peoples shoving range if they are a station/ if they like to raise light.
Just stuff that might help me later in the tourny or if i bump into them again.

In addition to the good suggestions so far, I have found a really good note is to track the "flush masters" (keeps all sooted) and the "ace masters" (keeps all Aces)

I am a lot more wary on a 3flush board when I have a flush master in the hand, and the A on board slows me down more when there's an ace master in the hand (unless I have one!).

Of course, this is about 90% of all players at the bargain levels where I play

Along with what everyone else has said ...

Donkey, station, maniac, loose, TAG, need to 2 barrel, tough, too tough, steals often, steals from SB, weak PF, weak - always fold to 3-bet, min-raises premium hands, limps pps, and any other random junk that crosses my mind.

Edit: Ya and as per the above... loves any 2 sooted when I see K2 sooted.
