(Disclaimer=just interested in gauging opinions, not selling anything here)

Hey guys, I am a ~6bb/100 AIEV winner after RB over 500k hands on ACR 200blitz. I put in a ton of work every week with pio, wiz, Ruse, etc including a structured study session with several mostly midstakes 6max pros, but don't have much experience with MTTs at all and have done almost no work on them. I was kind of looking to sell action possibly at markdown for the 5k 3million guaranteed, as I won a ticket in the Beast Sunday tournament (free to play for high volume players as part of the rakeback program), and was wondering what people might think my ROI might be given this info and how much I could sell some action for. Also, if it will be too low, I will maybe opt to just wait and play it at a later date this year (see below).

Study plan includes

-Bought premium GTO wiz MTT package, which includes a formidable amount of preflop stuff, including 480 different stack scenarios, ChipEV and ICM solutions of course, ranges which include limping and don't (initial plan is to develop a simplified limping strat that is manageable to memorize at certain stack depths where EV loss is non negligible, also to understand how to respond vs limp strats from crushers etc. alternative if this is too complicated, and EV loss is minimal. this might be way too much though and I might have to rethink)
-Do several courses, recommendations welcome, was thinking Fedor's or Nick Petrangelo's
-Watch as many higher level RIO MTT vids as possible, again recommendations welcome
-Training in GTO wiz=start with preflop training at various stack depths, drill both preflop and postflop much more as the tournament date gets closer

Etc.

The super alternate thing to do which I've considered, is to not play this tourney and wait to use the ticket for another time and just study intensely on the side for several months. The problem is I'm not sure if this is even possible because 5k tourneys are extremely rare lol. Thanks for advice!

MTTs are a long-term commitment, don't spend too much time studying like crazy and obviating your profitability in cash games. You've won a lottery ticket. Don't make preparing for a single MTT your focus.

You're probably no worse than breakeven, anyway.

Thanks for the feedback. I understand your points but I do think it will be a decent longterm investment anyway because it would be nice to have some tournament study experience if I have nice opportunities to enter MTTs in the future. Also, if I end up really enjoying the format I could maybe even consider a transition. I also just wanted to get an idea of what would be a fair price to charge friends who might be interested in buying a little action.

In addition to all of that you mentioned in your OP, the tournament section of Modern Poker Theory will help as well.

Biggest adjustment from cash, I would reckon, is learning proper short-stack ranges and how to preserve that stack and use it as a weapon. That, and I'd also recommend Endgame Poker Strategy so you understand how the pay jumps at the bubble and at/around the final table distort cEV from $EV so in case you make a run you don't punt a bunch of equity.

Hi OP

As mentioned the key mtt adjustments relate to stack depth, ICM and antes.

But wow you’re going to burn yourself out with that study pressure.

We have flatting ranges v RFI you won’t see in cash charts. Antes do that. Learn some mtt charts at various positions and stack depths via GTOWiz just to get a feel for what’s different. In particular look at SB flatting ranges.

We have weird bubble and final table equity calculations. ICM does that. Skim read the endgame book nath mentioned, it’s essential. Google bubble factor formula.

Other than that, don’t kill yourself studying things that are so marginal in EV difference as to be of no importance in an mtt sample size of…well, one.

I’d spend a few hours getting the essentials from above, then pony up for a PokerGO sub grab a bottle of red and just enjoy watching Adammo and others play beautiful poker in a 100k FT, or perhaps a recent wsop me - they’re a much higher standard now.

Set small realistic study goals. Achieve them. Go deeper in a few areas if you’re enthused.

You don't even need to do that if you don't want to - the Triton live series and the weekly GGPoker 10k are all available on YouTube and are pretty good resources for watching high-level high-stakes play.

Cheers nath

I’m watching the triton $200k invitational atm. Good to see some high quality early stages play rather than just the icm affected FT replays.

Minor spoiler for the 100k main event:
Spoiler:
Four guys I know from 2p2 made the final table! Mike and Dan haven't really kept up with me, but I'm still in touch with Sam and Steve. Sam and I talk more about comedy and TV than poker, though.
