Hey Guys,

pretty standart spot with AK.
This was the first hand i opened. Villian was very loose/active (opr: loosing player).
I think AK was ahead, so i was ready to go broke with it, but choosed not to push. Instead i made a good ol go + go move (=reraise and push any flop)

-Do u like it?
-wich play involves less vaiance, the push or the go+go? Wich has more EV?
-Would u just push it?
-or even fold it early on?
-is go+go still up to date?

Thanx for ur posts...!

shove pre. his flat is awful and gross and the last thing you ever want with AK.

...would you say not-shoving is a mistake?

not shoving is not a mistake but the problem is well exactly what happens. What now that he has flatted? A player like this is going to call with any piece of the board or any mid/high pair. The go-go is workable since you have outs to that but I think it is the higher variance play against a loose player.

Since he is loose/active as you said I would lean towards the shove pre.

seems std to me. they call the smallish 3bet wider than a shove (KQs/AJs-AQo is all in a randoms range here imo, even 78s,TJs... alot of hands) and we shove every flop for value just needing like 20-25% Equity which we easily have with AK

...your point makes sense, people like these are not folding no matter what you do.

...that was my thinking during the hand. I did not want to manipulate his range to nuts only, so i made this raise to give him some room to spazz... But maybe this is to much thinking for a 6$ mtt, dunno...

He called and showed me the allmighty AJ... wp sir, you were miles ahead when the last chips went in

Thanx for ur posts guys, allways helps when things not going your way....

pretty sure he considers folding to a shove with AJo more often than calling 800 more in position and trying to hit a J or A. he obv has terrible RIOs but hey, poker aint dead yet as long as they flat 4bets with AJo

...sure with AJ he will fold more often to a shove, so the result would be
+600 chips for me.

But lets look at the possible outcomes when i choose to go+go it:

-he folds = +600
-he reshoves = i call
-he calls, misses and folds = +1400
-he calls, we both hit = i stack him +3000
-he calls, hits and i miss = i still have outs. (worst case)

So the go+go still has its merits. I just felt so dump in that moment, but hey,
looking at the facts here it was ok....
