BB: t2930.00 14.65 BBs
BTN: t3310.00 16.55 BBs
Hero (SB): t2760.00 13.80 BBs

Pre Flop: (t300) Hero is SB with J A
BTN raises to t450, Hero ?

Vil is a semi-winning reg, up a couple thousand at most. He's 22/15 over 2.8k hands. Opening 33% of buttons. I'm not sure how much he raise/folds this spot. I'd think he's more likely to call it off with something like KQ/55/A9s after raising, but that might not be true. How wide do I get it in here?

depends on board texture, has he been raising alot recently?
if no, this raise looks scary and i would try a stop & go.
if he has been raising alot i will 3bet this.

maybe im being too aggressive but AJ at this level is too good to drop.

this looks a shove to me, with cl he ll be raising pretty wide so it seems a clear shove without notes stating this is a weird bet size etc

Anyone else like stop and go here? Personally I don't but I've never really tried it. This is a clear shove, isn't it, or am I missing something?

Re how wide to shove, there's some very good players who I'm sure are near atc in similar spots against players who they believe will raise fold.

I don't like a stop n go either, but I am biased because I pretty much never like stop n gos. I think it is particularly inappropriate to do in a spot where it looks like you should have decent FE pre anyway though.

I agree with OP that you can often expect a 'semi-winning reg' to make some bad raise-calls in a spot like this, but our hand is so strong it shouldn't really matter since villain's opening range will be quite wide as well. If you want to know exactly how wide to re-shove it seems you need more information, a good place to start is to look at BB hud stats, if they are tight as well then villain may be opening really wide (and vice-versa). Also, knowing whether this is villain's standard raise size, or whether they are open shoving any of their range, etc, may help narrow things down.

It's not all that relevant, but I found it interesting to consider how wide BTN could profitably open if they knew AJo was near the bottom of the range SB would re-shove with. Turns out they could profitably open ATC like this as long as BB re-shoves less than 24%. Not saying that effects your decision, just thought I would share since I did the ICM (I set SB to re-shoving a 9% range). Obviously if BB flat-calls as well that changes things.

I think raising all-in here without extra info or anything is super standard.

Also, has button been 3xing a lot, because that's not good. I wouldn't view him as that good because 3xing there is lol, unless he's like been 2xing it before and this 3x is a change, etc.

Super easy standard shove.

This is a great spot to resteal as he has to be calling fairly tight. Of all the players, he has a better chance of knowing this that any random.

I would shove something like 15-20% here. Something like 33+, A8o+, A3s+, KQo, KTs+, QTs+, J9s+, T9s, 98s, 87s.

These spots are super villain dependent and any reads that would help nail his range better are crucial. Generally though, this guy probably understands ICM and will be opening wide as the big stack and probably folding a lot to your shove. Don't be afraid to stick it in. Especially with AJo!
