villian has been solid through out game and played with him before. do we lay down aj here even though we are getting two to one against the shorty?? my gut feeling is fold. if i had raised on the button and was facing a randoms all in i would be more incilned to call.

I would tend to call . Yes , there is a good chance you are dominated , but you're getting close to the odds you need if he has a bigger ace and if he has a pair JJ through kk you're almost getting the right odds. But seeing that he is short stacked , his range could very well be wider than that and you could be facing a smaller pair than jacks which you are getting a very attractive price for .

Even if you loose , you still have about 10bb which is more than enough with the bubble near by. If you call and win though , you'll have a solid chip lead and will be able to abuse the bubble relentlessly.

If you fold , you have decent chips but you'll still have to be selective (selective agression ofc ) on the bubble since there are 2 other stacks that are similar to yours .

Stack sizes are really important here. If the situation was different and say , if you were to call and lose you would have 5bb I would definitely fold without hesitation.

He is shoving over an UTG raiser he knows is solid. Your thinking seems pretty sound to me. A BB shove when you raised button is a bit different but here, I just think you're burning money if you call.
