Villain is betting into an empty side pot, so he has a hand, making me fold. We will get to see his hand anyways, and if he bluffed an empty side pot, make a note and exploit later.

alright thanks for input, i folded and he flipped over QJ hearts to win the pot. if he had bet 2,500 or 3,000 would our play change?

your play has to change preflop after the guy calls all in for 1000 you need to raise this pot up atleast 3x from the CO...this helps with making further decisions on the flop or other streets because youve extracted more information about the villians hand.

my play would have gone like this:
call all in 1k, i have KJo i re raise make it say 3750$...if the SB calls me and leads into the dry side pot i just give it 2 him

You also have to think about this from Villain's point of view. Betting out into a dry side pot with 3 other players looks extremely strong to YOU. Think about the hands that have you crushed, JJ, 99 hes reraising before the flop (or at least he should). AJ, 22 probably wouldn't and those are in his range, but you certainly can beat a lot of hands in his range. Calling on the flop will also scare the **** out of him here and chances are unless he has a monster he is going to check the turn.

This is a 3r rebuy, so I like a raise preflop, and I also like a re-raise on the flop. I think if he had a hand, the guy would have bet less trying to trap, but the way he played it gave me the impression that he had a small-med pp, top pair with a weaker kicker, a straight draw or a flush draw. Not only does his play look strong to us, but he is also thinking it is very likly that we did not hit enough to carry on in this pot.

I like either a raise or a fold preflop; calling encourages you to get into sticky situations with the blinds with a hand that looks strong but is quite vulnerable; stick in 3k and make the blinds pay to see something there. If you can't raise that there, you have to let it go, IMO.

I seem to be the only one wanting a fold pre flop. Calling invites trouble later in the hand, since most people with check check the hand once you have an all in you are either winning a tiny pot at showdown, being forced to fold if someone wakes up with a hand or very rarely hitting the flop super hard, if you do this you are going to struggle to get paid for the reasons mentioned above.

If you raise then you will either fold everyone and be playing all-in guy for 1 BB (woohoo!!) or else getting raised off it if anyone behind has a hand.

As played fold the flop and take time to sit out and question how you came to be in the pot in the first place.

P.S. sorry that sounded meaner than it was meant to, the call pre flop isn't a disaster but life is so much easier if you fold.

DOOD! Raise that up prf. In unraised pots you can run into J4 and other crap and play yourself out. Which is why you folded.... so... raise.

Could be worse... if I'm playing horrible I might call THEN fold to a turn shove
