what a joke..dont play at party poker NJ what a joke..dont play at party poker NJ

So tonight I was playing and I have never had a disconnection or issue with not being able to confirm my location in NJ. I live in central NJ for what it's worth and verified all info on the site and have played pretty regularly for the past week since joining. After joining a $20 2k guaranteed tourney within 2minutes i got the message that they couldn't verify I was in NJ. I than contacted support and it took 15 mins or so to get everything working away I lost about 1/6 of my chips bc I reg'd late and the blinds were in level 8 or so. Everything seemed to be fixed and I joined a SnG for $20. I got heads up with even stacks and than boom another "we cannot verify your location in New Jersey" So I logged out and logged back in and it worked and happened again 2mins later, and again, and than again a 4th time. When I logged back in the 4th time after it couldn't verify my location in New Jersey the SnG was over and I had just 5 BB's left in the mtt. I contacted support because another player had told me I should be able to get a refund.

I was told that the issue was on my end with my internet, and that the message the site was showing me was "an incorrect message". I manually checked google chrome and firefox and both were working fine. I even wen't and reset my connection anyway and it still continued to happen. The live chat person even went as far as to tell me to take a screenshot of when it happened and send it to them for them to review. Soooo.. I guess I'm supposed to go back in time and magically take a screenshot??? WTF is that crap really? So my thoughts are 1- i feel like i've been scammed and 2 - what's stopping them from just saying it was an error on my end and not theirs when i do send a screenshot in about it?

I wouldn't recommend this site to anyone..it's a freakin joke that they can do this and it's honestly just 100% bad business to do this crap when you're trying to grow a website with obvious competitors in the state. I won't be happy until I get a refund of this 40-60$ and will go to numerous websites including some of my own and tell others so they do not fall victim to this scam as I have.

It's not a scam dude but it does suck.
02-23-2014 , 02:35 AM
Another thing I want to know is if my internet was so bad (they're blaming it on my end) than how in the hell did i contact their livechat support through the website itself? Wouldn't I not be able to load the site at all??

Probably wasting your time here. Party_Rep hasn't been online since the 19th.

When/If they do decide to respond to you, expect to be more frustrated than you are now.

Any site that's US legal is a joke. Traffic blows and it is a waste of time...unless pokerstars makes a comeback and it is international like before...I don't deposit a.single dime to any of these crappers.

It's really just not even worth it. Save your money and just either go to the casinos when you have the time to make the trip there, play with buddies in a home game or don't play at all. The support really pissed me off with the responses I received. Any time they feel like they could have the site sending out this can't confirm you're in NJ message and screw you completely by putting you on auto fold. This just opens the doors even wider for in house cheating or something in my mind.

Of course..but at least by going public about it i can probably help others from falling victim to the same BS. I want them to be publicly accountable for the actions they take as well. I've been playing poker for a long time online and never had I had some BS like this. As I said earlier it's just bad business what they're doing.

But now you can play on your phone! Oh wait it's the same Shi*
Try driving in from Pennsylvania 3 times and getting that same message.

Wow been hearing a lot of this lately about NJ based sites like PP..
, I'm in NY and was looking forward to depositing on my next trip to AC but after hearing stories like this it will become less likely they will see a dime from me.. Thanks for the heads up OP and GL

i don't think OP's experience is necessarily the normal experience. Most players who were having issues wth location verification in the first month or so have no problems playing now.

the main culprit behind the location verification messages is not being able to see wifi signals. Party needs to see 2 or 3 wifi signals in order to locate you properly (yes, other wifi signals than the one you are connected to). in order to not have any problems, when you come to nj simply make sure you can see multiple wifi signals.

many people have suggested getting a long range wifi adapter (they cost like $20). I bought one of these and instead of seeing 2 wifi signals, I now can pick up around 15.

If ever there was a Tilt Factor added to the game, the geo-location is the worst. Bad beats are nothing.

It seems that using a twofold geo-location is what the sites want but don't have - WiFi and cell phone. So if one is suspect, the other would kick in before you get booted. Believe Nevada has cell phone only.

This has been vaguely addressed by the sites that a DGE change has to allow it before they can institute.

The Party/Borgata customer support is at the bottom of all the sites. They are immovable on the level that we are exposed. Instead of the customer always being right, the script is the Party/Borgata customer is always wrong when it comes to the connection issue.

Haven't heard of many that have gotten up the chain to a decision maker. And, the Party Rep on the site can not be NJ based, and up on the idiosyncrasies of the NJ sites. He/She can only report that the incident will be accelerated.

Good Luck in getting any refund.

i mean, not for nothing, but there's plenty of great poker games to be played on these NJ regulated sites.

making blanket statements like "all US sites are awful" really isn't helpful, especially since the sites vary so much from market to market (nj, nv, de).

is it frustrating when geo location kicks you out? absolutely. is customer service not always the best on some of these sites? yes definitely. but just making the blanket write off of regulated safe poker sites seems silly, especially when there are as many good cash games and tourneys as exist on these nj sites

I guess we were spoiled by the likes of pokerstars and fulltilt. I played so many years on stars that attempting any other site is just useless. I'm not big on customer service as long as I get my money...but adjusting to sites with 1.5k to 3k peak traffic is just...meh.

it's certainly not the same as stars and ftp were. and yes, you cna't play a $10 tournament with the dream of winning $25k anymore...

but there are still some good games to play, and things are getting better every day. also, regulated poker in the US is still VERY young, give it some time to grow and hopefully we'll see some better tourneys offered

Amen. This is such an exciting time for US Poker. Maybe we could get these peak numbers up a bit more if guys like OP would stick around and give it a chance. I don't mind the low traffic so much because overlays are always great, but I would love to see inter-state and eventually inter-national compacts made to really blow these prize pools up.

I purchased a long range wifi extender TP Link when Party Poker first opened up in Jersey. I was able to get on all the poker sites. But for whatever reason party poker keeps giving me the message that I'm not in jersey. Customer service told me that I should call my internet carrier and tell them to change my dynamic IP address. I look at it this way why should I change my computer if other sites are fine with it shouldn't Party Poker change how they're doing things?

Exactly....they should be wowing the customer and not the other way around. Online poker died when Stars left.

ya unfortunately if you have an IP address problem then a wifi adapter wont' fix that and you will have to request a new IP that correctly shows your location.

the most common problem is wifi problems, which the adapter will fix

Without a problem. Basically I'm saying Party Poker needs to get there $hit together.

i had these teething problems in december. When I relocated for other reasons from Europe. These days its all very good from my end. Support is very tech savvy and they try to provide help and settle the jitters on call itself. I agree that we need to give these sites sometime. Push for a refund though using this link. They do their own examination and approve it most times.

If anyone from any NJ site management is reading this-you have very serious problem both short term and long term with the geolocation/disconnect issue. It frustrates the hell out of us customers and some will soon stop playing with you. Is that when you'll take note?

Won't even go to the non-support issue where everything is the customer's fault.

Wake the **** up before you quickly have no business left.

The connectivity issue is a key point.
I've have yet to play 1 complete tourney without at least 1 disconnect, most tourneys I have had 4 or more disconnects.
Support blames my internet connection. Sure, whatever you say.

Until this basic issue is solved you do not have a viable business model.
