I guess when party/Borgata say..."no new names under ANY circumstances"...that means..hey, if you give us a good enough reason, we will give you another one. Why am I not surprised.

That guy's situation is unique. He might have been getting too much harassment. If that's the only case of a recent name change, I don't think it's such a big issue.

he already had at least 3 names. To answer the question, yes it is a problem, because you might have reads/notes on the guy on his other name and it might take a bit before you realize its the same person.

Just keep in mind we don't know the details. Anybody who has ever been on TV knows that the nuts come out of the woodwork. If PartyPoker makes an exception to protect a high profile player, I will give them the benefit of the doubt.

Now if it's later revealed that the SN change was done for other less acceptable reasons, then I will rethink my opinion on that one.

yes when he is sitting me HU under a new name and playing me without telling me its him he was doing it to gain an edge the problem is resolved and his name was changed back glad they did they right thing

Eventually word gets around about who is who when the player pool is so small. And it's an extremely unfair advantage to play someone HU at 10-20 that you assume is a fun player and they know your stats.

unfair yes/maybe- but why do you assume a new screen name playing 10/20 is a rec/potential fish especially in a small player pool at that level.

just like u said..the player pool is small at the level and all the regs know one another.

if you see an unfamiliar name, you would prob assume its not a reg esp when Borgata support tells you, no one can make new names anymore.

problem is far from solved...this thread shouldn't have had to been made in the first place. Borgata said no one would get a new name under ANY circumstances. If they could make this mistake once, they could easily make it again. Next time it could be to a lower stakes player that wouldn't be as easy to figure out.

It was started because of a certain player but it doesn't change the fact that multiple people have had name changes in last few months when they said this wouldn't happen

My only point was that, to the best of my knowledge, there is only one specific player name being discussed in this thread. I was trying to be positive, hoping that in some way we were making progress here. Clearly it's a problem for everyone if others are still allowed name changes.

I can confirm screen name changes are permitted in exceptional circumstances only - this decision is made by management
We do not need to disclose why the decision was made - if the player had a valid reason - management would have approved the request

Screen name changes in general are no longer allowed - should a player request a name change - an investigation is carried out as to the reason why - this is the same on both Borgata and party

Should you wish to discuss the matter further - please send a detailed email highlighting your concerns to our customer service team
