Friends feature seems a little useless without the ability to be notified when friends come online, and be able to find what table they're at.
Log-in to the client & Click on “Friends > Friends List” and you would get to read your friend’s activity. If they are online, a message displaying the cash game/tournament number they are playing would be shown. If they are offline their “Last Seen” status would be shown.

On every table that you play you can see a small friends icon showing how many friends on your Friends List are online.
