Petition to have the option to remove ads/banners from tables Petition to have the option to remove ads/banners from tables

04-08-2015 , 07:41 AM
The ads/banners that flash on tables notifying you of upcoming/running tournaments are absolutely absurd on so many levels. Please join me in getting party/borgata to at least give players the option to stop the ads from appearing on tables if not completely removing them from the site. I know that many others have previously expressed frustration and disdain for the inability to play on tables not fraught with constant ads popping up. Given the fact that these are especially bad when they have a big tournament series going on (as there are many more tournaments for which to advertise), I thought now would be an opportune time to post this with the NJCOP approaching.

#1. They interfere with gameplay. If you are multitabling and have table windows in small sizes, the ads will obscure the community cards. Also, if you are in the seats at the top of the table, the ads will obscure your current bet. It is almost impossible to find the time to click the ridiculously small little "x" to remove the ad when multitabling, not to mention the fact that the ad will simply reappear following the conclusion of that hand and you will once again need to close it. Moreover, if the ads get "stuck" as I will talk about in the next point, the bet/cards are permanently obscured barring closing and reopening the table.

#2. When multiple ads pop up it creates an error where by it is impossible to remove the ad from the table unless you close the table and reopen it. Others have posted about this issue as well. If an pops up, then a second ad pops up before the first ad has had a chance to fade away, this error with occur. Again if you are only playing one table this is not a big deal, but when playing many tables it becomes a huge problem as even if you resolve the issue by closing all tables, going to all of those table's lobbies and reopening each table, the same thing will just happen again in five minutes and you will need to do it all over again.

#3. They are such an annoyance to any serious minded player trying to keep track of many different tables when all of a sudden twelve ads pop up on your screen, obscuring bets and cards and then pop up over and over and over, every minute. As I said this issue becomes hyper magnified when a big tournament series is going on as there are so many more ads running for the increased number of tournaments. But they are incredibly annoying in any case. One should be able to play poker without being bombarded for ads for tournaments, often times for which i am already playing...

#4 The international party client has the option to turn off the ads!!! I used to play on the international party client and had this same issue. Amazingly, there was simply an option not to view the tournament ads. This is what really bugs me the most, why would you give international players the option to turn off the ads, but not us? This is such a simple fix and would alleviate so much frustration, much like the cash game lobby issue was, and much like the cash game wait list issue currently is. But this issue apart from customer service, geolocation issues, and software failures has to be right up there at the top of the list.

So come on party, get with it. Let's get these ads gone, or give us the option to turn them off. This is totally unacceptable for all the reasons outlined above. Join me everyone and lets get this issue taken care of once and for all!

Hi

Thank you for the detailed feedback
I have recently gathered all recent comments and PMs regarding this issue specifically for management team review.

With regards to previous feedback shared, the team are looking at optimizing the use of these pops ups during game play.

I will again ask the product team if they have an update in this area.

Thanks

Colette

Few things have led to more complaints than these banners.

Many people speculated they even had something to do with the MFC crashes, which became much more common after their introduction.

I proudly sign your petition. And if all our other complaints were missed and it takes this thread to get them to reverse these ads, well then I owe you at least 2 beers.

When those banners begin to flicker and not go away they have caused crashes in the past. They are ridiculous and annoying.

Take this image and overwrite the original in \Images\NewGameTable. It will make the banner transparent. This is the best you can do until they give you the option to disable them.

Oh, the filename needs to be EM.png

Yes please either fix these so they do not interfere with game play or provide an option to turn them off.

I sit out when the popups get stuck and start to flicker or become so frequent that it is almost impossible to play unhindered. If everyone did this then gameplay would grind to a halt and party would lose revenue. That might provide them with incentive to fix the issue.

just to be clear, I actually did use some work-arounds like this before.

But then, after not having crashes for a long time, I started to have more.

It could have just been a coincidence. But I don't want to customize anything and have them claim "The software crashed because you changed your table image" or whatever.

This is an awesome short term help, but we need a full solution. Please, get rid of these banner ads. They never should have been approved by the DGE in the first place.

Lots of annoying ads last night, figured I'd give this a bump since I have still not gotten any update.

Yeah with NJCOP we are going to be putting up with these ads constantly.

I wish more people who complained in other threads would add-on here.

Hi

Again, thanks for the feedback

I will ensure the PRM team are aware of this thread and the issues
It really helps to have the issues collated in one thread.

Thanks

doubt they will remove them they see it as marketing/reminders to draw attention to those games not realizing their schedule doesnt change much and regulars have an idea of what they going to play in and when. even if its a lte entry then fr some reason they watching the lobby anyways

Well they don't even have a chance to work as designed.

Has anybody else noticed that the banners are usually 30 minutes behind or more? I saw something the other day I was planning to register, and when I clicked the lobby registration had been closed.

So not only do these banners screw us over, PartyPoker gets no real marketing benefit either. The only marketing they get is the negative marketing of how bad this makes them look here.

Poorme is the man. I've finally come to realize the dude just wants what's right. Thank you my brother for being our voice

thanks for the kind words.

if they blow it its a huge blow to everybody not just their company, the state, the loss of tax revenue, the players, & future sites who might want to try the market. theyll always have the grinders around and those who earn their living playing poker.

its the casuals and the rest of those who might get more into it they taint by all the horrid experiences. its a limited market and face it for the majority of the market in nj- the more they piss them off / disgust them - the harder it is to regain their trust in online poker not just for their site but potentially for other sites as well (who might not even be open yet). people do get frustrated and hold grudges and though many in nj might enjoy playing not everybody has to scratch that itch regularly playing online with strangers.

granted some people might just (if chased from party) stray to other sites but not everybody knows of the other sites that are open. the more damage they do now the harder it will be to recover in the long run. the casinos online will always thrive but online poker in nj is a much more sensitive market.

all bad luck, glitches, problems aside i do enjoy playing and will always play online simply mostly out of convenience . the bad customer service wouldnt even bother me if i didnt have to deal with them so much. others have had similar gripes w 888/wsop but i simply havent had the displeasure of having any reason to contact them.

sucks because i like the action better at party/borgata more than 888/wsop- though i do have some favorites to play in at those sites and they do run omaha cash and mtt's and at some point i was able to play stud cash games too.

party/borgata still runs the bigger guarantees and more regular big series. they set a big bar to match with their offerings and guarantees. the way i see it is the other sites arent willing to risk as much to match that level, at least not so soon until they generate more revenue, saved more profits from nj to risk, or are more confident that such goals are attainable consistently to turn a profit in nj's market. they're simply watching their numbers closely seeing what the competition is doing and seeing if party's moves are going to work out.

im just hoping if pokerstars somehow come Q3 isnt approved yet that pala will jump in take some limited risk and force party/888/wsop to work a little bit harder cuz at least pala seems from my experience to have great CS much like Ultimate had, and surely all the grinders+ will surge to whatever new poker site might start running in nj.

plain and simple 888/wsop/party/borgata really dont have much competition to keep them on their toes. basically just like 1 3/4s poker sites or something like that when you count the sharing of player pools. they think they have players by the nuts because of limited options and the big wigs seem so far either overconfident or see NJ as just a small potential profit on top of international gains.

i may not be a gambling man - but id bet if we had online poker running legal in all 50 states (or close to it) party wouldnt have the continued issues anymore.

sorry for the book. gets me a little worked up at times cuz it so easy for them to get things right. whether your winning or losing playing at party the way they do things costs all of us extra money.

Yes, I forgot to mention this as well in my post. It's actually hilarious, the ads aren't even in sync with the tournaments that they are advertising for. So not only do they have all the other issues going on with them, but they serve zero benefit for inducing players to register for tournaments. Seems to me it would be in everyone's interest to fix this.....

Nothing for the 2 months this thread has been open, and nothing for the 2 years weve been asking for these banners to be removed. Dont worry though the teams working on it

This is just disgusting. I can't believe they did not solve this problem yet. This is unfair to the players as it freezes up the computer and creates crashes. In addition to this I have seen many players steal pots because their opponent could not read the board due to the popups. The popups are causing all types of havoc and chaos.

Hi

We are aware of the issues with the MTT pop ups
The team have a fix in place which will be implemented in the next release - planned mid/end June

Thanks
