Party Poker software crashes during final 5 of Sunday 50k Party Poker software crashes during final 5 of Sunday 50k

06-16-2014 , 01:55 AM
My username is McLovin81 and I was playing 5 handed during the finale of the NJ Party poker Sunday 50k guaranteed. The site completely crashed on me (I assure you my internet connection was fine), and I was unable to login for approximately 25 minutes. I was finally able to log back in after the party poker software performed some auto update, only to find that the tournament had concluded and I was awarded 3rd place.

This is completely unacceptable to me for a number of reasons, and I am currently waiting to hear back from pp support with an explanation. If any other players at the table experienced similar difficulties or have an explanation for me I would love to hear about it. The other four players were 'munsoned', 'RealEstateWiz', 'jjdubs', and 'PrestonBroadus'.

I am still awaiting a response from Party Poker NJ after emailing them approximately 50 minutes ago. I will keep anyone posted, but if nothing else, I just wanted to have some sort of record of what just occurred.

It wasn't just the 50K, though obviously that is horrible. It went out during two late night turbos. Unacceptable...

Also went out during the Triple Chance.

Four or five people managed to stay connected and of course pillaged the blinds of the other 14-15 of us.

Emailed last night too.

Form reply of denial as expected ...

Please note that this is regarding the disconnection you reported earlier. As we have explained the matter has been escalated to the department concerned.

I'd like to confirm that our servers were up and running at the time you reported the software crash.

I'd suggest that you contact your Internet Service Provider as it seems the issue was caused from their end.

In case you have further questions, we will be more than happy to assist you. We are available 24/7.

Thank you for choosing us as your online gaming site.

needless to say, I replied to this demanding a nonbull**** reply

Anyone else?

I could not care less about the small dollar equity I lost (especially compared to the OP here) ... but more the principle of the thing.

I spent an hour on the phone about the 2 tournaments affected for me, for which they grudgingly gave me $10 tournament dollars for, all the while claiming it was my fault. In one case they refused to refund the other $5 because I cashed in the event, never mind that who knows how the results were affected by my time knocked out (and I really would be pissed if I was one of the people who hadn't built up a big enough stack to survive the outage.)

I took out the money I had in PP after that phone call. Players deserve better than lies and I'm sticking with UP (and WSOP to try and get a ME seat.)

It has been 24 hours + and I have yet to receive a response or explanation from Party poker.

Besides the fact that the software crash cost me thousands of dollars in equity in Party pokers biggest tournament of the week, I am also a high volume cash game regular on the site.

I think this says a lot about Party Poker customer service...

I remember watching the final table for a bit and you were a big chip leader and I figured you would win it all. Mine went down as well in the middle of a hand (cash game) and they didn't refund me either and I was pissed about that..
Were you playing on party or borgata at the time?
06-19-2014 , 02:19 AM
Party poker. Yea, I was going to win it. They cost me thousands in equity. Still waiting to hear an actual explanation from them. Switching over to Borgata might be the move...
06-20-2014 , 02:55 PM
Borgata is the same as party........
06-23-2014 , 08:25 PM
hear anything?
06-23-2014 , 09:20 PM
No, I haven't actually. They just gave me some bull**** response about waiting to hear back from their technical team. Then never actually got back to me.
Basically, it's party pokers practice to wait and see how much one of their issues upset the player pool (checking 2+2), then just sweep it under the rug when not enough people are upset by it. I've actually heard this specifically from players who know party poker representatives. I'm a regular on the site, and they cost me thousands in equity. Yet there customer service doesn't have the decency to even explain the issue. Imagine how they view / treat the average player on the site. I don't think much of party pokers business practices, to say the least...

Well you've convinced me not to move my roll over to them - was thinking about moving it in the next couple of weeks. Cheers for the warning. Hopefully they will sort this fairly for you - from what you say though, I have my doubts. Gl.

Hi,

Between 01:00 ET and 01:30 ET on June 16 we received complaints from players regarding issues they were experiencing connecting to our game servers. These issues occurred for some players while they were deep in tournaments, including on the final table of our weekly $50K MTT. We immediately escalated this issue to our technical team for an investigation. Shortly thereafter, we learned the affected players were able to reconnect. Unfortunately, affected players in tournaments were paying blinds while they were disconnected and in some cases were blinded-out of their events.

After a thorough investigation across our systems for any possible internal factor that could have disrupted game play, we confirmed this was not due to any internal factors. This finding was substantiated both by a clean systems health check and the view that the overwhelming majority of players online during the period of this disruption were unaffected.

We then took a holistic view towards considering what external factors could have affected our players’ connections. We learned that the same Internet Service Provider was being used by all affected players during this outage, and that players using other ISPs did not experience these issues. We were unable to confirm with the ISP precisely what the problem was – as they would not confirm this to us unless we were their customer – but supplementary research from social media outlets shows that many of their customers at this time were experiencing problems across a range of websites and digital services during this same time.

This issue affected players seated in several ongoing tournaments, including 3 of the 4 last remaining participants on the final table of the Sunday $50K tournament. The end result was that the 3 disconnected players were unable to resume their connection before the tournament finished.

We regret the negative impact on game play, yet we have decisively concluded that the disconnection issue originated beyond our servers and our games remained running properly with the majority of players connected and playing. As such, this incident is covered by our Disconnection and Cancellation Policy.

We have offered affected players some goodwill credit, but will not be providing anything further.

Regards,

Party Rep

I was also playing that night and got ripped off but for lots less than mclovin. It was such bull****. I love the "no its your fault" excuse.

I remember that night and all the other sites worked w/o issues. I had ZERO problems with any other internet related things. just ****ty PP. weird.

Same response that I got over a technical issue which they blamed on me. I guess $80 is enough for them to never get another dollar of mine plus all my friends that refuse to play on the site. This is a sinking ship and don't see it any other way with how poor their software is, as well as their pathetic approach of how they treat players.

Can't tell if most of you mad bc you think Party is lying about the situation, or do you think they are telling the truth, but should still have to pay.

imo if party has proof the issue was with the players isp, they should not pay. It would make the sites vulnerable in many ways.

However, we shouldn't have to just take their word for it. If a report has been filed they should be obligated to prove their claim. If they can show that every player with verizon (example) was disconnected, and no other players were disconnected during this time, then I don't see any reason they should be responsible.

Would be good business to throw out a few free entries or something to those affected - but I wouldn't feel owed anything.

Im sure reports have already been filed with DGE, and would be very interested to see how they deal with it.

If the DGE doesn't investigate properly/party doesn't somehow provide evidence this is a big problem as it makes the players vulnerable.

Looking forward to being trolled for looking at both sides.

Bring back Poker Stars. PLEASE !!!!!
07-14-2014 , 04:37 PM
According to the Party Rep's response earlier, this is are related to ONE ISP. For the few that were affected by this, what is your ISP so we'll all know whether Party bs ing or not.

We need to get stars here faster I can't wait to play on stars. Moving my entire roll to stars
07-15-2014 , 03:06 PM
So many cry babies always looking for free handouts. Don't play then good riddance.
07-20-2014 , 07:26 PM
Some of you people here are so unrealistic and cry babies it's unbelievable.

It was comcast or whichever ISP obviously, and I suppose your that unrealistic to believe that they should be responsible for that as well or such.

Living in IN I only wish I could play party again.

Do you think that they want to admit that 3 out of 4 were affected there by admitting that 1 guy won by stealing all the blinds? Hell no and they certainly wouldn't mention it if they were at fault.
