I live in Hoboken. On the western part of town so I am 2+ miles from NY. You couldn't ask for more WiFi networks than I have around me - I have at least 15 other networks in my available list. I have a NJ IP address. Yet I continually receive notices saying I can't be confirmed in NJ. I've tried just about everything - restarting my laptop, router, playing on the software version, the web version, different web browsers...you name it. Yet I still am getting kicked out. I've spoken to chat support and phone support - no resolution. It's infuriating because I can logon for 5-10 minutes, then get kicked out. Prior to today I was playing hours at a time with no issues...now I can't play more than 5 minutes. What a terrible system they have in place for geolocation. I specifically waited a couple months to signup in hopes of having the kinks ironed out. No dice. I'm baffled.

I'm having some issues with this geo location thing.. I used to play on the site just fine without any major issues for over a month... Suddenly you guys updated the client sometime in december, and ever since I have been unable to play at all....

Things I have spoke to customer support and have checked/tried to do...

1. Customer support keeps saying that I'm behind a Proxy, which i'm not.
a. Non of my browser have proxy setting checked.
b. I have never owned nor own any Proxy related program/s (as far as I know)
c. I have called verizon to have them reset my IP/connection, and as far as they are concerned, they have assured me that I am in no way logged on via a proxy server on there end.

2. Wi-fi
a. I have both a Landline as well as a Wi-fi connection connected to my verizon box for my computer.
b. When I open up and look for wi-fi connections, there are roughly 10+ that it can locate within my vicinity (as I do live in a condo)
c. My cell phone is also connected to the Wi-fi and registered under my account, and is on myself at all times.

So what seems to be the problem? the customer support just told me I'm behind a proxy and If I dont know how to shut it off, there is nothing they can do for me... Yet everything they have told me to test/try and I have done so without any issue so far... Should I just give up completely now or is there something I'm missing?

Regarding 1b., do you use the computer for work at all? Ever use a VPN in any capacity, or remote access software, such as logmein or teamviewer? I do all of these, and must literally kill the processes within task manager to get it working. I also use an online backup service called crashplan, which is constantly backing up any data over the internet - this was causing issues as well, so I close this program before opening the software.

I've been on the phone with customer support numerous times now. I have sent them a ult. bill, and my license. It still has not verified my address. However, then I get a message saying I was verified- yet then I still can't deposit. How do I fix this?

I do not use my computer for work related in that regards, would you be able to name a few of those programs? I can try looking through my task manager and see if there running in the background or something...

But I have never downloaded/used VPN/Remote access software ever before (those 2 programs I know what they are so easy to write off as no), but ones like logmein, I highly doubt i ever did, and Teamviewer hm... I'm not sure? I might have at one point? but no longer being ran on my computer...

I don't mind me being kicked off for your horrible software but not in the middle of 4 tabling and all in on 1 hand and losing the pot and no response from support..

Is there any update for implementing cell phone based geo location with an SMS confirmation?
02-07-2014 , 12:02 AM
Hey guys, I have had all of the exact troubles you have had. I finally just bought a wifi-adapter for my Mac. It works fine although I still very occasionally have to pause for 10 seconds while the site re-verifies. I have a 2011 iMac desktop, and wifi-adapters are much harder to find for that. But the one I got is a Bolse 300Mbps mini adapter. It costs about $20. I know wifi adapters can cost about the same for PC comps. But it's worth the cost to hold me over until the sites figure our SMS. Hope this helps.

Wanted to play the Sunday tournament since Novemeber and keep getting kicked off every 10 minutes or so.

Somehow was able to log in, deposit and play all day on Superbowl Sunday without issue and thought this was all resolved.

Of course the last few weeks back to being disconnected multiple times per hour.

Do not understand why I was able to play Superbowl Sunday and not any other day.

In one of my infrequent periods of being verified yesterday I made sure to withdraw all of my money. Geo location tilts me more than any bad beat ever could.

Would love to play at party poker. When you develop a system that does not kick me off every level of a tournament let me know and I will come back.

Thanks.

Seriously, I never tilt. (68, why bother tilting)
Having said that I just screamed at a Borgota support rep, using F bombs.
The disconnects throughout the day make me more than sick. It's also wsop and 888 and probably any others.

FIX THE DAMN THING

I quit online nj poker until the geolocation issues are better resolved.
You can't play enjoyable poker getting knocked off multiple times a day.

I did not lose, I don't think it's rigged. I want to play 7-10 hours a day.

It is unplayable as currently constructed.

If getting disconnected happens to 95 percent of people who are in New Jersey why do we have to get tossed off and lose the money that's in the pot. Shouldn't the pot play out and be all in just like you lost internet connection?
Why punish the players for the sites inability to detect where we're playing from?

These geolocation issues are bunk. I live in Jersey City near the Hudson River and can't be recognized as being in New Jersey, even though I unambiguously am. I have a wifi adaptor hooked up to my desktop, but that doesn't seem to help.

It looks Party Poker isn't ready for primetime in New Jersey.

Request you to contact customer care as they would be able to look-up your account and explain what is hindering your location from being validated and what can be done to fix it.

Kind regards,

I was playing regularly on borgata without a hitch for three months, only getting booted off occasionally. Now I am unable to play at all. I live in Central Jersey, and my ISP is Cablevision. According to borgata's geolocation system, my IP address is coming out of Brooklyn, NY. Support told me I need a NJ IP address, and that my ISP should be able to give me one. But they're wrong, Cablevision's system doesn't work that way. I spent hours on the phone with Cablevision, but there's no way for them to change it. They use randomly-assigned dynamic IP addresses, not static IP addresses. And of course, Cablevision is based out of NY, but they provide services in NJ and Connecticut also.

Oddly, borgata's customer support said that he could see that my wifi was located in NJ. Well, wouldn't my wifi be more important, since wifi signals need to be close by, and IP addresses can come from hundreds of miles away? It's been a month now, I'm still locked out from all the sites, not just borgata. They could've sent someone to my home to verify where I'm playing from, and they'd have made that money back in rake in a day. Instead they're losing out on $1000's because their system is horribly flawed. Its just bad business, and the support is beyond useless. It makes me sick that when i need real help, I'm stuck talking to Aknad in New Delhi.

It's not Patel's fault.:>)
The geolocation issues were/are massive and debilitating.
The companies simply lied to everyone and went into self congratulatory mode.

I have rarely seen a product so flawed.
