I'm having trouble being geo located in nj on party borgata wsop and 888. The only site that I'm not have a problom with is ultimate poker. I have not had a problome until 3 days ago. I checked my wifi and I have a good connection with a few other wifis (security enabled) in my area with low signal. My thing is I have not a a ego location problome since launch day here, now it's giving me a huge headache. I call the support for wsop and they are 100% waste of space and life. I don't no why this is going on or how to fix it. It has been really cold the past few days and snowing Lot. Don't no if that can effect the signal ??? Can anyone help me?

I'm having the same kind of problems the last week. NO problems the first 2 months. Sure, I would get booted a few times a night, but ok. This past week I've gotten "F'ed" during the WSOP champs several times an hours I got booted in huge spots. Really got hurt during my FT of thurs 10K even worse was HU's when I was knocked out for a few minutes. Had a CL 1.35 milly to 450K, lost 250k without playing a hand during that BS. Happened on Party as well. I emailed the sites, but NO ONE has gotten back to me.

Your ISP may have assigned you a new IP address. I believe the vendor the sites use for geolocation is Maxmind. You can go to the Maxmind website to check your IP location. If it shows up outside of NJ, your best bet is to either turn off your modem/router overnight so that you hopefully get a new IP address. You can also contact your ISP and ask them to change it.

After a week of misleading emails with support indicating the problem was with my Wi Fi signals, I had to figure the above out on my own. Of all of the geolocation providers I checked, only Maxmind put me outside of NJ.

It is also annoying that Borgata has declined to give me additional time to clear my bonuses despite the problems caused by its vendor and its IT support department. For one of my bonuses, the time lost was 30% of the time I had to clear the bonus.

A Cheap Fix!! I have Comcast for Internet and TV - the server IP address does not matter. The law is written such that the user must be geo-locatable in NJ...How to fix? I bought a NetGear Wi-fi USB Adapter that plugs into my computer and then sets up a LAN with my Comcast Gateway router (not all digital modem are gateway modems). My computer then connects to the gateway modem (both are on my desktop) and ta-da!!! They can geo-locate me and I have been able to play at WSOP, partypoker, and Borgata.com. They sell these wi-fi adapter at Best Buy, range in price from $30 to $50. That's it. The only other solution is to put a wi-fi card into your computer, or buy a laptop with wi-fi.
This boils down to the way the law was written. They must be able to physically place you in New Jersey using wi-fi geo-location.

Apologize for the inconvenience caused We looked up your Party account and find only one failed location check dated 01/26. It failed as the required additional Wi-Fi including your Wi-Fi were not visible. In future you may simply disable the Wi-Fi and then enable it to resolve this problem or please contact Customer Care to resolve it.

I started having this problem today on Borgota, WSOP and 888 after almost 3 months without any issues. I wanted to share what I found so far:

Speaking to Borgata support, the following 2 conditions BOTH must be met for your location to be verified.

1) IP address verification.Your IP is passed along to a database, the database does a lookup, and makes a determination (with some error) whether that IP is likely to be in or outside of NJ.

2) Wifi Geolocation. We will also attempt to geolocate you based on your computer's wifi. Your computer does not actually have to be connected to wifi, but it has to at least be able to see a wifi signal. This so far in our testing is actually quite accurate. However it does mean that computers that are not wifi enabled will not pass the geolocation process. Any reasonable laptop has wifi so basically we are talking about desktop computers here.

My problem is #1 and cablevision/optimum support is saying that the IP address given to me is registered in NJ but the databases that do the lookup may not be up to date yet. Poker sites say the IP address is NY so I can't be verified. Also, cable company cannot force a new IP address to be given to you, only way to get a new IP address is to turn off the cable modem for 24 - 48 hrs and hope for a new IP address. Also, you have to hope that the new IP address is one that will be verified by the poker sites. It is pretty messed up the way this works.

If anyone else has any suggestions on how to get the IP address issue solved, please share as I am sure other players will go through this kind of ridiculous scenario.

I've been having this problem for the last week after no problems before this. I emailed Borgata and WSOP and both pointed to not being able to get enough wifi signals around me, so I bought a stronger antenna and it's still not working.

I've checked my IP in the maxmind and several other geolocations and all show NJ. One thing I'm wondering is what does it use my neighbors WiFi for? Do they also need to show in NJ in a DB? If one of my neighbors got an IP that is showing in another location am I SOL?

The regulations by DGE require that we validate the player's location in NJ by the following means:
Wi-Fi and IP leading to NJ
Players need not use Wi-Fi to connect to internet, simply enabling it is sufficient. In addition to the player’s Wi-Fi, only 2 more near-by Wi-Fi hotspots should be visible to easily spot the location.
The 2 nearby Wi-Fi hotspots can have different IPs as it does not interfere with the location check.

We can advise the right resolution for the geolocation issue once we look-up your account to see what changed in the last week due to which your location is not being validated. Request you to reply to this post mentioning the e-mail address or the phone number registered on your account.

We understand that your location is not being validated due to the IP address being shown as outside of NJ & that your Internet Service Provider had informed you that the IP was registered in NJ.

We had deployed a correction in our system yesterday to resolve such issues. You should now be able to play, however if the issue resurfaces please contact customer care and they would assist you to in validating your location.

I had the same problem my ISP is optimum, first make sure you can see 3 wifi networks I added one in my house because I live in a very rural area. That took care of my problem until I was assigned a new IP address at which point it was showing me in NY, I live within 5 miles of NJ and NY border. Calling optimum or support for any of the sites is a complete waste of time. To change your IP connect directly to modem, open network adapters, right click local area connection and chose properties, click on configure, chose the advanced tab then on left side high light "Network Address" and on right chose value and put in a repeating # like 222222222222 and click ok. You will lose internet for a minute but when it comes back you will have a new IP address. Sometimes you may have to do it more then once to get a IP that ties to NJ. Good Luck

So basically you're changing the MAC address of your PC? If that's the case, note that you can still often do this even if you're behind a router, most routers also have the option to specify a different MAC.

I did try in my situation to change MAC address and assign Mac address from my desk top but it didn't work with optimum. After changing my IP I was able to switch back to using my router and maintained the address within NJ.
