borgata/party im throwing in the towel

borgata/party poker for a myriad of reasons until further notice I AM THROWING IN THE TOWEL WITH YOU. you will not see another cent from me. i've been more than patient but ive had enough. i feel ashamed that i used to be one of your big supporters.
hire some employees who have a clue. luckily for me i am not dependent on online poker to earn a living so i have a choice of where i play and how often (as limited as it may be). id rather play high stakes yahtzee then give you any more business. imo- you are spoiled by your global market in which you can do almost nothing and still have thousands of steady regulars to support your bottom line.

im curious to see how many other people on this forum have decided to give up on party/borgata for whatever reason.

good luck coming up with a marketing gimmick good enough to draw me and those countless others who've given up on you back. if you havent noticed it's a limited market and you should be doing things to encourage word of mouth advertising and keep players around instead of shenanigan after shenanigan, empty promises/lies, etc etc to chase them away

imo- RIP party/borgata poker

(for the haters who may say - "he's just a losing player , bad skill, whatever other BS, im up a few thousand from the site with very little investment")

We will be sorry to see you go, but I do understand. This has been very frustrating from a player's perspective. You are the not the first to give up, and I fear you won't be the last.

Re: borgata/party im throwing in the towel

OP in what terms did u have enough? Wanna be a bit more specific?

I used to play on Party and am one of those who were seriously frustrated not just by the plr pool segragation scandal itself, but also from the complete lack of professionalism in handling the situation after it was revealed.

All in all I think it takes effort to lose such a big % of their marketshare in just a few years.

I am not going to "give up" on the site, but rather be extremely cautious while playing there. I can say for a 100% fact that they blatantly lie to their customers and the support is clearly on management's side. They will make decisions based on what helps their bottom line, they do not care about the customer or justice. Be very careful while playing on there, and beware of their biased customer customer service.

this is all certainly true and more. gross incompetence too. its all about maximizing profit vs costs while assuming just because they are legally open for business they will always have a steady flow of repeat customers regardless of the effort they put into it or what stunts they pull. nj isnt the global market- you dont have the luxury of hundreds of thousands of people with steady poker itches that need to be scratched regularly.

we shouldnt have to take so many screenshots and do things as keep inventories of our tickets (in the case they suddenly go missing due to "glitches" or them "being used without our knowledge"). keep track of how many points we earn for whatever leaderboards. if you dont and you encounter an issue you're basically screwed as they will stop at nothing to deny you. so much shadiness over and over again and management clearly does seem to encourage it. CS is useless and many of them at times dont seem to know what poker is. endless glitches (though it does seem after almost two years they finally got geolocation better). i've encountered very strange things there which i havent seen elsewhere in nj. repeated upcoming fixes and changes usually almost always never put in. the list goes on and on.

what they did with the player segregation and how they handled it was absolutely disgusting (believe that was pre nj). ive seen strong indications that they are using some kind of Skill segregation at least for mtt's though they deny it. BUT THATS a different topic for a different thread and i dont use a hud or other software so i dont have the hand histories. but somebody might. i could be wrong

im not done playing online there are other sites available and it seems like 2 others maybe this year coming. (wouldnt be suprised if PS gets delayed again though) i know im not the first and definately wont be the last to leave party.
from a players perspective its not good for the nj online poker ecology.

Re: borgata/party im throwing in the towel

Poorme,

I've backed you throughout your journey as a member of this forum. You are frequently active with your voice & I admire your activity on this forum.

When I first became a member of this forum I was rapid fire on here & could not get myself away from this site. You were still in diapers. I was forced to hit the showers one too many times & found myself in too much trouble for my goofy behavior and "random musing" off track posts. Simplistically , I was the derailing MVP. They have an award for that you know? It's called the Congressional Medal of Uuuugly.

"Tolis" said it right. Be more "specific". Would any of us be out of line if we were to assume that your biggest issue with Party is the horrendous beats you've been taking ( another victim of the party poker screw) ? Have you not mentioned in some of your writings that Party tends to put a beating on some of their customers more than others? Does one open himself up to scrutiny when he proposes such an argument? Indeed one does, but in doing so, you may be able to establish a "specific" position that can only draw others to be more interested in your writings.

Conversely, you do not want to be known as just another Party poker complaining customer who's arguments are indeed rational & valid, but simply are arguments of redundancy.

I can think of 2 other users on this site who have said their terminating their service to party poker; both have since returned.

You have said such yourself, you are a recreational player. Thus, you play for fun. Why am I under the suspicion that you are not having fun? $ talks Poorme.

You've said in one of your posts that you would not think of playing 100nl online & you solely stick to micro cash & micro tourneys - yet you are both very unhappy with what has transpired throughout your experiences with party poker , but still claim to be up a "few thousand".

My friend. I respect your passion & please keep being a voice on here. You seem as though you haven't an aggressive bone in your being....

but something is not adding up poorme.

If you were up a "few thousand" (vague in it of itself), I'm willing to propose that your threads & posts would not be so negative & complaining in nature. Again, I could be completely dumbfounded regarding my skepticisms on your claims to be up a "few thousand", but such a claim does not balance out with your micro stakes playing & your underlying negative behavior on this forum .

You can solely ask poorme to be true to poorme.

Now that you have told us you RIP with the Party screw, if you ever rise from the Party pet cemetery & your buddies find out your playing on there again, we will inevitably grow even more suspicious of your claims that you are up a "few thousand", for your "word" will grow even more suspicious through the eyes of many.

Good luck on your journey in search of Poorme, for one who claims to have found himself is surely lost.

and the rest of his post..
first, i have said i was leaving party/borgata until further notice. so i admit there is always a chance i may one day return to the site whether it be curiosity, value, degenerate itch (lol), or ive put my differences aside as i have done well enough for my standards overall. i admit i don't trust them anymore and i have no denial that my dealings with them and all the issues ive had (which i havent gotten into on the forum) seriously have jaded me even made me bitter & extremely negative at times.- which is very much out of character for me.
i'm a gambler. have been my entire life. i was raised on horses and poker. fortunately i learned as a little kid self control when it comes to gambling and not to bet over my head. i am no stranger to runs of bad luck, bad beats, hot streaks, the overall ups and downs associated with any type of wagering. ive been from rags to riches back down again (circumstances beyond my control- ironically came when i wasnt gambling and lost my drinking ways)
the not playing 100nl cash. if had large amounts of disposable income i would play that level only live not online. online is a different beast. sadly the longer the nj market is open the more it comes down to who is most adept at using whatever type of software. i love the cat/mouse games of poker and the challenges but for me: using huds and the other tools breeds laziness and dependancy on the software which wont transfer to my live games. i prefer playing live- then its skill , luck, and the true cat and mouse game of reading other players/tells. its more dynamic. online is convenience factor and allows me to stretch my $$ further in mtt's for fun and yes to potentially/ hopefully supplement my income. if i wanted to just soley play for fun id just get some video game version which would cost very little if any.
my life path has taught me always to be gratefull for what i get. i am not greedy. realistically 100-200$/mo profit makes me quite happy playing online. if i pass that great if i dont no big deal because i play with $ at levels im prepared to lose at. when i buy in to a mtt i start with the mindset that moneys gone and im playing to get it back + a return of some kind. im not looking to be the next pro/superstar or earn a living from it. would it be nice to be able to yes it would. but realistically unless i go on a huge hot streak i do not have the bankroll to throw around and sustain the ups and downs. i've spent many years living wk/wk mo/mo and its not for me right now.
naturally i like everybody else and even the most dedicated pro will get flustered from bad beats and losing to different degrees in different circumstances for whatever reason. we are all human. have i played at the 50$ level+ at party- many times i have ,husng mtts. have i done it at other sites seldomly but yes mostly do to bankroll management.
am i a rec. nowadays if even that yes. there was a point i played 8+ hours everyday grinding for many months. was i doing it for fun only no. i did it for the money while having fun passing time. if i had a big enough bankroll -do i think i could scratch out enough to get by playing online? yes i do. would a hud or other assistance software help me get better results. certainly to some degree but its no longer the poker i love to play.

i never knew this forum existed until i got so fed up with party that (being curious if it was just me) i googled party complaints which led me here. i really feel bad for those other players who didnt know about this forum or njdge who had legitimate issues in which CS pulled their usual tactics and got away with screwing those people. it does seem that the way to get issues resolved fast is to email/call CS first then post here and get collette's attention. at which point collette through her channels seems to get more attention and action taken to resolve the issue. collette isnt a cure all but she does as well as some of the other site reps seem to get better results..... this is getting long so to be continued.

Re: borgata/party im throwing in the towel

i've worked many jobs and have much experience dealing with CS and the public. i realize that sometimes those CS reps are wary of people trying to get things for free or through loopholes by complaining/ other methods. i would imagine in the casino/poker industry its to an even larger degree.
that aside i have experienced them cancelling tournies on me a few (deep in progress) in which per their cancellation terms they ended up chopping. long story short ended up being "you'll get x amount per these terms sorry for the inconvenience" which led to "we've already refunded you that money" which led to a month later "sorry you didnt get what was owed we just credited you". bygones be bygones. but its been one thing after another. granted the other sites CS doesnt seem much better but ive only had to deal with slow response times/question not being answered. at least i havent had major issues with the other sites and havent experienced the things which might make me feel suspicious.
i started to feel that party only cared about taking care of /catering to the big spenders. not a suprise its to be expected. the point fiasco recently plus the leaderboard issues seemingly getting worse gives me the impression they might not care as much anymore about their big spenders. online poker in nj is still in the very begininngs and still fragile imo. its taken them almost 2 years to get issues resolved in which the other sites took care of long ago. they're not just giving their own company a bad rep but online poker in general. thats not good. they should be trying to nurture and grow their investment in a limited market but it seems improving on how they operate isnt a part of that plan.
like i said i have become jaded by them. and more and more of what i see and have experienced from them not just to me but to others- closely mirrors/resembles many bad experiences ive had working with various companies on a wide variety of topics. looking back i should've jumped ship in this situations earlier but i was too blinded to see it.
i have posted in the "rigged thread". do i feel every site is rigged- no. do i feel some sites may be rigged or doing other shady things? - yes. i have enough knowledge of computer science to know its possible to do and get away with. i do like to keep an open mind and it wouldnt be a suprise to read one day about a rig being found. i am very wary while playing at party now. i joined that thread because i know there are gullible people out there that who will read almost anything and accept it for the truth. there are many who read this forum but never sign up. if there is a rig out there id like it exposed. if people always just assume or are easily swayed its not rigged then it may never be found as people might not be looking in the right place/or at all.
last thing as this is getting long. i apologize sometimes i dont get my thoughts out efficiently and ramble a times. to answer ive deposited less than 500 at party/borgata just to see if i could clear the bonus (which i soon withdrew without using). ive withdrawn between 2-3k total. how? i took the signup money and grinded with it. if it werent for pokerfest last year i probably wouldnt have made much money. i grinded that-got a bunch of t$ (knew that was too good to be repeated) focused on mostly cheap satellites and low level buy ins to convert to cash. that last big freeroll (mission tix) i did well in. so realistically about 1k in t$ converted to a few k cash. i wasnt suprised or angered by them trying to do away with the t$/ticket conversion. saddened yes. they were the one site that did such things (having t$ and many cheap satellites) really which is a micro recs dream. that is to flip minimal cash into reflippable t$/tickets. i do understand partly why they steered away from it from a cash liquidity standpoint.
the fact that i have profited playing there is the one main draw that would tempt me back. it's not just my own experiences that have jaded me with them, its others whom i know personally, random strangers (i deal w the public daily), many different players sharing similar stories. lately i cant shake the heebie geebies i've been getting while playing on the site and my gut is screaming at me to walk away. so i am

sorry for the long post yet again

Re: borgata/party im throwing in the towel

@Poorme, very good decision to walk away from this site. I have been playing online poker for years, and I never experienced a problem like this from non-regulated sites. In addition to this the customer service is virtually non-existent and they have no knowledge on what is going on. I am sure at least 90% of members on this forum are more up to date/knowledgeable than their under-qualified support team.

The problem that I had was very easy to correct, yet they still could not figure it out how to solve it. This makes me very wary about their decision making and the way that they handle problems. They clearly are under-qualified, liars, or even worse; inept.

I do not want to keep on rambling about my case with them, but I hope it serves as a reminder to be very cautious with this site and they way they run their business.

Re: borgata/party im throwing in the towel

Just to throw this out there since theres a HUD discussion. HUDs do not make you better at poker, they do not turn loosing players into winners, and they do not make any decisions for you. What they can do is give you a tool where you can analyze your hands vs opponents, get a general feel of how a player is acting in spots after thousands of hands with them ect. Using a HUD effectively takes alot of learning and time. I know many players who use a HUD and are probably worse off bc of it.

As rec. players you shouldnt be thinking everyone who uses or has a HUD has some sort of crazy edge. In reality the guys who beat whatever stakes they play would do so with or without a HUD, and the players who dont beat the stakes they play wouldnt beat it with one if all they did was buy it. Online poker in NJ, esp at micros, has nothing to do with who has the best software. If were talking 2knl on Stars, then yea seat scripts ect. all come into play.

Not playing bc of the way Party handles themselves is a different story, although lately things at Party/Borgata havent been as bad as they were this time last year.

Re: borgata/party im throwing in the towel

Poorme,

Good stuff my brother . In short, if you are "hudless" you are better off on wsop/888.

Party's atrocious softwear makes you go through multiple steps simply to see your opponents whole cards after you have already taken his shirt.
*step1. Click the long as-s prison serial # at top right corner
Step2. Scroll alllllllll the way down to the bottom to read your opponents whole cards
Step3. Read the cryptic message the party screw tells us what the legend's "Kelly kapowski's cards were.
Kelly kapowski shows 2s 7c for a 3x triple barrell bluff in a 12€ pot for no apparent reason.

After you have finally realized what the kapowski myster was holding, you have unbeknownst to yourself sat out in your other 3 games & have blinded yourself out in the massive $150 guarantee $2 nightly buyin.

Orrrrr you can play on 888 throw eggs & tomatoes at your friends , cheers with beers to your buddies (b/c we are both drunks) & simply click one simple button at the top left corner of the screen in order to clearly see "ridilfo's" quads that she checked every street to showdown.
