Borgata/Party crashes on a nightly basis Borgata/Party crashes on a nightly basis

11-10-2014 , 03:00 PM
I'm having an issue with the software, it crashes on me at least once a night. In middle of playing (multiple tables), I receive a pop up from windows stating "Borgata MFC Application has stopped working, Windows is checking for a solution to the problem...". The software then proceeds to close out. When I log back on, all my tables reopen. However, sometimes I return in the middle of a hand, and I cannot see my cards. Thus, costing me real dollars. Why is this issue occurring on a daily basis (has been happening for weeks)? I'm not the only person experiencing this issue. Several others in the New Jersey online community on PocketFives have reported the same problem.

I have experienced this problem as well. It was briefly mentioned in one of the other threads.

Some users seem to think the pop-up announcements are to blame for these crashes. I don't know for sure, but it's definitely a more recent problem. I hope they can fix this one soon. I had no crashes last night but for a while I was getting about one every other day.

I received this response from borgata poker support. Will try it later.

This is further to the report you made with us, regarding the BorgataPoker software crashing.

Our respective department have checked the cased and advised that his can be due to corrupted file or component in the software, usually caused by improper installation or errors while upgrading the software. I would advise you to follow the steps below to completely uninstall the current software and the Party Gaming folder as this might cause the error to appear.

Please note that by uninstalling and re-installing the software, you would lose the player notes that you made through “Add Player Notes” option and the Hand History folder as well. For the Hand History, please go to C:\ProgramFiles\BorgataPoker\HandHistory, copy the folder and save it in a different folder. When you reinstall, you can move it back to the BorgataPoker folder. If you don't have any notes, you may skip this step and proceed.

Save the player notes:

1. Right click on the 'BorgataPoker' icon on the desktop.
2. Click on 'Properties'
3. Click on the 'Find Target' button
4. Double click on the BorgataPoker folder
5. Right click on the 'Notes' file and click on 'Copy'. Close all the windows.
6. Right Click on the Desktop and click on 'Paste'

To uninstall the software:

1. Click 'Start', point to 'Settings', click on 'Control Panel', and then double-click on the 'Add/Remove Programs'.
2. Select 'BorgataPoker', and click on 'Change/Remove' to remove our software from your system.
3. From your desktop delete the 'BorgataPoker' icon if you find any.
4. Open 'My Computer' and browse to "C:\", then delete "C:\"BorgataPoker" folder (unless you renamed it something different when you installed it the last time).
5. In 'My Computer', open "C:\Program Files" where you will see another folder called 'PartyGaming', delete this folder also.

Please follow the instructions below for a Disk Cleanup.

1) Close all the programs
2) Click on 'Start' > 'Programs' > 'Accessories'
3) Select 'System Tools' > 'Disk Cleanup'

May I also suggest to close down any programs running in the background to free up any resources the computer is using. I would offer that you follow the procedure stated below to dispose of unnecessary internet files:

1. Click Start Menu and Select 'Internet Explorer'
2. Select 'Tools - Internet Options'
3. Select 'Delete Cookies'
4. Select 'Delete Files'
5. Select 'Clear History'

To reinstall the software:

1. Go to http://poker.theborgata.com/download.html and click on 'Download now'
2. Save the setup file to the desktop.
3. Select 'Run' to start the installation

I don't want to be a naysayer. But about 3 weeks ago I was instructed to do exactly this by support over the phone. I had already un-installed and re-installed the software several times. And I regularly do disk cleanups and other maintenance.

Needless to say, I still have the crashes. I did all this again just because, but it did not work for me. So if others have a different / better result please post it here.

I'm not surprised it didn't resolve anything. This is ridiculous, smh.

Did you reach back out to support and get another response?

We are sorry about those uninstall – reinstall troubles. An email has been sent to our development team to see how we can get this worked out.

Please rest assured your case is being investigated by our tech team and we will update you with the resolution soon.

I did contact them again (both for Party and Borgata) but I got nothing more than a "we'll get back to you" type of reply.

For full disclosure
1. Party_rep asked me via PM what my username is
2. My understanding is that Party_rep is not a specific person, but is a general account used by customer service.

I am still not sure where this leaves us. It's been a few days since the most recent crash, but then again maybe I've been playing a bit less.

Considering the time wasted in setting up the software once it's installed, I really am hoping not to be told to uninstall / re-install yet again. Talking to customer service is like a full-time job for me.

I've had this exact error countless times while playing on Borgata. I've tried to contact support about it multiple times, with little success. I recently submitted the following e-mail to support. Probably an exercise in futility, but this will be my final attempt before I take my $20,000 in yearly rake elsewhere. I can live with the GeoComply (disconnect) issues. At least you're able to finish your hand. These software crashes are entirely inexcusable.

Quote:
I''ve been an avid player on Borgata Poker since December, 2013. Through software crashes, GeoComply issues, and errors I've remained loyal to your product and have continued to play, with the thought in mind that Borgata/Party would simply need some time to work through the kinks. After all, this was a new product and it would only be a matter of time before things start to improve. Nearing one year later, these issues have not improved and it is no longer reasonable to excuse your software for costing me large sums of money due to software crashes and errors.

Multiple times per week I receive an error "Borgata MFC Application has stopped working, Windows is checking for a solution to the problem..."
I'm forced to close and reopen the software, only to find that I'm sitting out on all 8 of my mid-stakes cash game tables. Whatever hands I was in and whatever money I had invested into the pot are gone.
I would estimate that these errors have cost me somewhere between $1,200 and $2,000 over the course of my time with Borgata Poker.

I've gone through all necessary trouble shooting steps, including uninstalling and reinstalling the Borgata Poker software. I've followed any and all advise, and yet this issue continues to happen.
Before you suggest this is an issue with my device specifically, please refer to the 2+2 thread found here: http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/22...basis-1488134/
As an active member of the NJ poker community, there are countless other players I've spoken to who experience the same issue. This is a Borgata software issue, not a user device issue.

Furthermore, my hole cards will disappear in some instances, leaving me clueless on how to act once the action gets to me in a live pot. Please refer to the screenshots attached for examples.

Although I've reported these issues before and have submitted screen shots, I've never once been compensated for your product's issues. This will be my final attempt for fair compensation before I will move on from your product for good and advise others within the poker community to do so as well.

yea im on this process now they going to ask for exact times of crashes so take not and send that to them im still waiting to here back

I got that email this morning and a call (from a blocked number) this evening. (Hey Borgata, I'm less likely to answer the phone when you block your number. You're lucky this time.)

What's odd is that I complained about this a month ago, or longer; then the problem went away and I've been online 5 days a week since then. Haven't they noticed that? Or does their right hand not know what their left hand is doing?
11-20-2014 , 03:39 AM
Mine crashed twice last night, of course when I had good made hands.

Whatever system upgrades were performed on Wednesday, they did not address this issue. I know this is a client software issue (or it least it seems that way) so I'm hoping that this will be handled in a client update soon.
11-20-2014 , 01:37 PM
Mine crashed last night.
11-27-2014 , 08:11 AM
Something slightly different, playing overnight the application froze every time I tried to look in the Sit And Go Lobby. The tournament lobby opened fine (but the only MTTs that run over night are free-rolls).

Did anybody else experience this problem, either today or in the past?
11-28-2014 , 01:59 PM
Mine crashes like clockwork once a night while I am playing. It'll be cruising along just fine and then completely with no notice it'll completely disappear. I actually didn't even notice my Borgata tables gone one time because I had so many others open and so few on Borgata. The only saving grace of this problem is that when I DO notice it instantly, I've always been able to log back on and continue playing out the hand. Terrible problem though to have to log back in with multiple hands pending on multiple sites, including the one that crashed for no good reason.

Party is completely incompetent. You should read the thread I started about their head management straight up lying. If you're trying to get in touch with someone about your issues, here is the direct contact info for the main girl, Shawn. Let her know how displeased you are.

Is it just the borgata's party that crashes, or also regular nj party poker? Borgata crashes for me too, wondering if I should switch, please let me know!

Thanks, also when I emailed support they told me it was a rare issue so I thought maybe it was because I use windows vista or something, but it seems it's kind of common then

I can confirm that this problem is common on Windows Vista and all versions of Windows 7. Have not tried running the software on Windows 8 just yet, but perhaps that is next.

It is not a "Rare issue." Unfortunately, support is probably directed to describe every issue that way. Or maybe few people call support when their system crashes. I have personally talked to support probably 5 times about this issue, but if I called every time it happened that number would be about 100.

On Mac, people have noted geolocation issues and version issues. But I have no idea if they are also experiencing this "crashing" problem.
