Now that UP has launched it brings to mind a question. What is the exact law (Federal or State)that is stopping me as an IL resident from playing poker online? Can someone provide me with the text of it? UIGEA addressed the banking side of it correct? But now I could fly to NV and deposit at any Stations Casinos which bypasses that. The wire act has recently been ruled not to pertain to poker. Is there a legal argument that can be made that we as residents outside of NV have grounds to play on UP from any where in the US? (Except for Washington and Utah which i believe are the only states that have specific laws against their residents playing online poker?)
I assume its a part of the license agreement that UP has with Nevada that they do not allow players located in other states, or countries to play against their players at this time.
Posting in historic thread! it's a bitter sweet feeling. I happy the day has finally come where online poker is finally legal on US soil but I am also sad that I am not in NV and cannot play. I can only hope that this launch will create a fast chain reaction and that my state will follow suit real soon. Cheers to all players in NV, the least you could do is share screenshots and/or videos of play
