Every time I sporadically check this thread all I read about is people trying to get an account going. Has anyone actually played a hand yet?
05-03-2013 , 07:45 AM
That's because all those who connected successfully are playing instead of on here complaining, obviously.

Sprint can use Verizon's towers. It is possible that some Sprint users are roaming onto Verizon's network in 3G, 4G LTE or both, depending on their location. It is possible that a Sprint user could get different results by turning off their 4G LTE if it caused them to switch from Verizon's network back to Sprint's, or they could still be stuck on Verizon towers. Which may not actually matter because I don't know if they are restricting location information from their towers or just their customers.

The 4G LTE issue for AT&T, T-mobile and Sprint users is primarily just a matter of needing three signals in order to triangulate a location. Depending on where you are it is possible to have 4G LTE service but not have a connection to the necessary number of towers. There are many more 3G towers, so turning off the LTE can make a big difference depending on your location.

Maybe we should round up some people and see if we can get a news crew to film a protest in front of a Verizon store
Maybe someone should email WPT Jacksonville winner Shawn Cunix. He owns like 80+ Verizon Wireless stores. He might have some pull.

I took a look at their coverage map. Your coverage is really weak in Jean. Don't worry about changing your phones mode. You are barely in a 2G area. Coverage is really good in Primm though and there is free wifi at the McDonald's and Starbucks.

Secondly, on a professional level, I am quite pleased to see a regulated online poker site return to U. S. soil (airwaves? wireless? which way do we go with online?). It will be a success (as evident by the moves up the PokerScout charts) and, once all the minor bugs are worked out, it will be a new day for online poker in the state of Nevada.

Thirdly, however (and on a personal level), I do have a sense of "don't really care" what goes on with Ultimate Poker. While I will be a fervent supporter of your efforts, I do not live in Nevada and don't regularly visit the area. With only Nevada live because of your actions (and NJ and Delaware soon to come), there will be a sizeable chunk of people who will be excited. There will be a humongous chunk of people, however, who will not be able to partake of the experience.

Continue on with the excellent debut, Dax and Scotty. Potentially one day, we won't have the restrictions currently in place!

speaking of NJ and Delaware, since they legalized poker already, cant Nevada compact up with them in the near future or am I missing something...NJ would give you an extra 20 million people to draw from ( including new Yorkers and philly people who would adopt jersey as their new home)

dax should be happy they aren't testing this in in NJ.. imagine 6000 guys in newark wondering why they cant be geo-verified because its coming up on a NY tower...lol
in my best new York accent.
"..what the hell dude. why wont this god damn thing verify me already.
well **** , i'll just go get a canole and wait"

Does UP have player to player transfers?

Nope. Apparently NV won't allow it

My initial $300 ach deposit from a few days ago finally cleared at my bank this morning and UP still won't allow another ach deposit to go through.

Stop sucking UP....seriously. This "launch" is getting embarrassing. People can't deposit, people can't get verified, people can't used their phones. Ironic that cashing out is the only thing that works smoothly (I'm assuming of course) Maybe you should just shut down operations until you have a product that is semi-feasible.

lol at people getting angry with UP, its literally been up 3-4 ****ing days, calm down and stop being so grumpy.

these things take time and your ******ed for thinking that it would launch with 0 problems and youd be able to jump straight into play.

black friday happened 2 years ago, im sure you can wait a little longer you ungrateful pos.

Why is this such an issue for you? Did you already lose the $300???

If so I agree with you. Make it easier for the fish to redeposit.

I think it would be excellent to reward the players who helped launch the site. Those who went through all the headaches of the first few days but sat a bunch of tables and got games going. When you launch the VIP program maybe have a multiplier for rewards points for the startup people.

Yes, I was essentially playing with 3 buy ins because this was all I could deposit via ach. I don't really feel like paying the hefty wire fees my bank charges and seeing how I haven't had 1 of 3 emails addressed in the last 72 hours I wouldn't want to mail a check to them and have it sitting around. And there aren't Station casinos in N Nevada. If I can't deposit how is a casual fish going to? I'm a customer. I have a right to be pissed if a product sucks and frustrates me. If the product isn't ready, don't launch. Simple as that. I'm more worried word is going to get out at what a pita it is to play on here and that UP is going to give a premature black eye to the start of legal US online poker.

You do realize the Canucks won't win a game until Verizon gets on board?
The Sedins don't need location verification to get behind the net and score.

I'd have to check on this - our ACH (behind the scenes) is in flux from day to day right now. Our payments manager isn't in just yet, but I'll ask him when he is.

So people shouldn't expect to be able to "jump straight into play" when an online poker site launches? You sir, use mind boggling logic. Of course there's going to be bugs, but not having the means to allow the casual player to get money on after he bustos is beyond terrible. So much for liquidity.

And I don't have to be grateful someone is providing an entertainment service.

I've played a few sit and gos and some ring games. While the software does need some work, it doesn't stop the fact that I've really enjoyed being able to play online again. I haven't played poker AT ALL since "black Friday."

Is the software perfect? No. But it's going to get better. I would like to be able to resize tables, buy in more than 50BB, and have the game itself move faster. However, with that said, I'm still more than pleased to just be playing again, and to know that it's now truly "legit," it offers another feeling of satisfaction.

I may have been a bit harsh in my previous posts, but I have to thank and congratulate Dax for putting up with everyone's bitching. At the end of the day, we all want what's best for the site, and I'm confident the team behind UP are going to do their best to unleash the best product they can. I know the wait for some may be frustrating for now, but eventually, we will be able to look back on this and LOL at some of the "kinks" that we've had to deal with.

One thing I almost forgot to add -- the phone location thing is actually kind of neat. I verified my account and turned the phone off later on thinking I wouldn't have to turn it back on except for an occasional verification. I tried logging on to the software with my phone off, and the site would not verify me as being in Nevada. It turns out, if I want to log onto the site to play, that phone HAS to be on. I realize that it's a pain in the neck now, but in the long run, when things get figured out and working smoothly, this will be a convenient way to verify us as being in Nevada. Much simpler than having to purchase a required tracking device or something of that nature.
Hey, thanks for the kind words. Glad you're up and running. 1 down, a few to go.

Nope, sorry - you can create an account while out of state, but we don't offer play money yet. The freerolls thing would most likely be a no based on the legislation and compliance I've seen.

Glad to hear the verification queues are coming down a bit.

I'm assuming she's getting a similar sort of loc-aid timeout internally here. We're working on this every waking moment.

Every casino game has to go through something called a "field trial". During this field trial (27 days left!), we have limited ability to change our software. The GCB wants to ensure that any machine on the floor of a casino works perfectly, and this applies to our game as well. We can change certain things (settings, content on web pages) but we can't touch others (the way the cards are dealt, or other core game mechanics) during this period.

During this field trial, they perform intensive audits of gameplay, poke and prod our software to make sure everything's working as intended, and look around our business (metaphorically speaking - they're not actually here) to ensure everyone has (or doesn't have!) the right permissions, access to software, data, and so on.

It should be transparent to you guys, but for us, this is part of the reason the software has to be "simple" to start - we want to blast through field trial without a hitch, then start adding the features that we think are cool.

We only got added to Norton's whitelist yesterday afternoon. Refresh your definitions in Norton and you should be good to go (you can also temporarily disable Norton, but I don't use it so I don't know how myself - anyone?).
