Dax,

If you make a deposit via bank acct I'm assuming there's a hold for a while on that amount of funds? Are you able to cashout winnings above that balance before the hold is off?

I bit the bullet and bought a T-Mobile phone from Walmart. I also added the pay as you go plan as I don't plan to use the phone regularly, obviously.

Sent in the verification text, and I was verified right away.

I've played a few sit and gos and some ring games. While the software does need some work, it doesn't stop the fact that I've really enjoyed being able to play online again. I haven't played poker AT ALL since "black Friday."

Is the software perfect? No. But it's going to get better. I would like to be able to resize tables, buy in more than 50BB, and have the game itself move faster. However, with that said, I'm still more than pleased to just be playing again, and to know that it's now truly "legit," it offers another feeling of satisfaction.

I may have been a bit harsh in my previous posts, but I have to thank and congratulate Dax for putting up with everyone's bitching. At the end of the day, we all want what's best for the site, and I'm confident the team behind UP are going to do their best to unleash the best product they can. I know the wait for some may be frustrating for now, but eventually, we will be able to look back on this and LOL at some of the "kinks" that we've had to deal with.

One thing I almost forgot to add -- the phone location thing is actually kind of neat. I verified my account and turned the phone off later on thinking I wouldn't have to turn it back on except for an occasional verification. I tried logging on to the software with my phone off, and the site would not verify me as being in Nevada. It turns out, if I want to log onto the site to play, that phone HAS to be on. I realize that it's a pain in the neck now, but in the long run, when things get figured out and working smoothly, this will be a convenient way to verify us as being in Nevada. Much simpler than having to purchase a required tracking device or something of that nature.

Legal online poker in the US with ties to advertising through the UFC... Makes me so happy I could shed a tear knowing that a new poker "boom" is ahead of us.

Can out of state players create accounts that can be used for play money ? That can be then used for real money when on Las Vegas ? And participate in freerolls and such while out of state ?

No Play Money

My Wife's ID verification actually only took about and hour and a half after she emailed her documents. Unfortunately, her location cannot be verified either.

I am beginning to feel like that pathetic busto guy on the rail who keeps telling the same bad beat story...

Dax,

First off, glad to see you and Scotty doing such a good job of being on hand for comments here on 2+2. While some sites have done that in the past, they haven't been consistent with it and I have a feeling that Ultimate Poker will.

Secondly, on a professional level, I am quite pleased to see a regulated online poker site return to U. S. soil (airwaves? wireless? which way do we go with online?). It will be a success (as evident by the moves up the PokerScout charts) and, once all the minor bugs are worked out, it will be a new day for online poker in the state of Nevada.

Thirdly, however (and on a personal level), I do have a sense of "don't really care" what goes on with Ultimate Poker. While I will be a fervent supporter of your efforts, I do not live in Nevada and don't regularly visit the area. With only Nevada live because of your actions (and NJ and Delaware soon to come), there will be a sizeable chunk of people who will be excited. There will be a humongous chunk of people, however, who will not be able to partake of the experience.

Continue on with the excellent debut, Dax and Scotty. Potentially one day, we won't have the restrictions currently in place!

Las Vegas Web Site Is Test for Legal Online Gambling

"LAS VEGAS — As the nation’s first legal, pay-to-play poker Web site embarks on a 30-day trial period, players from every state and Europe are logging on, even as casino companies, tech developers, regulators and lawmakers alike examine the technology for strengths and flaws."

From what I've read this isn't a trial period. I think its another example of non poker players writing about poker

Seems like all new games are tested for 30 days in Las Vegas then gaming board could pull it if the locating and age detection isn't successful. No doubt that that wont happen.

I think Dax mentioned in an earlier post that their initial gaming license is for 30 days, and barring serious issues they'll be issued a longer term license afterward.

Thank you, James. I do have a bit of knowledge on how these things work, sometimes a little backup is necessary!

have logged on prob 10 diff times over the few days since opening and never got this until now, wtf?

I did a little research on the cell tower issue. AT&T and T-Mobile phones cannot use Verizon towers in 3G or 4G LTE. They use completely incompatible technology in 3G and different frequencies in 4G LTE. So, there is no issue with AT&T or T-mobile phones being caught in Verizon's network. Sprint can use Verizon's towers. It is possible that some Sprint users are roaming onto Verizon's network in 3G, 4G LTE or both, depending on their location. It is possible that a Sprint user could get different results by turning off their 4G LTE if it caused them to switch from Verizon's network back to Sprint's, or they could still be stuck on Verizon towers. Which may not actually matter because I don't know if they are restricting location information from their towers or just their customers.

The 4G LTE issue for AT&T, T-mobile and Sprint users is primarily just a matter of needing three signals in order to triangulate a location. Depending on where you are it is possible to have 4G LTE service but not have a connection to the necessary number of towers. There are many more 3G towers, so turning off the LTE can make a big difference depending on your location.

Maybe we should round up some people and see if we can get a news crew to film a protest in front of a Verizon store

It means somebody at UP needs to register their software with the major anti-virus companies and get them to give it the OK. New software from new companies get flagged with false positives all the time. Unfortunately, there is no way to tell how many people get scared away in the mean time.

out here in the middle of nowhere in Jean, im guessing there aren't enough cell towers? seems to make no difference if I have LTE on or off. phone is Tmobile Samsung SGH T-759, to turn LTE off according to the manual looks like I switch to WCDMA only from GSM/WCDMA if I understand the manual correctly? and do I need to take the battery out after doing that? anyway would gladly pay anyone in Jean able to get my phone to work.

A couple of happy notes to bring to the thread, I was smiling when i saw that all of the dealers at the sunset station were wearing T-shirts promoting the site. Great for fish obv. And the roomate deposited cash at green valley yesterday, ran well, and today cashed out twice at red rock, both times being almost instantaneously ready at the cage for him. Very smooth on that process so far, so bravo UP. Now all i need is this verizon mess to be fixed so i can try it myself
