You could install the client software and see what happens, but yeah, you can rail from another state.

Chat - No

It's really not, it's not even addressed until post #90. It looks like he claims the honor system is the only thing stopping someone.

We've shared some jokes about this in the office, for sure. Unfortunately, no - we've actually got a wide variety of things we check for, including sneaking around your mailing address and looking in your window while you play.

...

Kidding.

We do take the "be in Nevada" thing seriously, though. Regulation and compliance are important to us, and we hope they're important to you guys as well. No more questions of where your money is going, or is the shuffle rigged - we've had to jump over some very high hurdles (this is one of them) to bring you software Nevada is happy to be behind. We're going to work very hard at providing a safe, secure, compliant site (while beefing up all the software and features to bring people to our games).

They get a pile of money.

To be honest, the bragging rights seem kinda cool. "I won the first legal tournament in the USA." I'd probably name my kid "My Dad Won The First Legal Tournament In The USA Danek".

I'm surprised anyone caught it.

Our software. We check a variety of things to make sure you're in Nevada.

You might be able to bypass it, but I think you're better off spending your energy to get legal poker in your living room in other ways, if you catch my drift. Besides, it would suck to get your SSN permanently banned if we did come to your state. If online poker is federalised, all of the location verification will go bye-bye.

Seriously, this is nearly a complete fail. All this time testing and this is what they come out with? Forget beta as I wouldn't even call this an alpha phase. This triangulation issue only accentuates the fact that the notion of state and physical boundaries is wholly unnatural in discussions related to the internet.

BTW, wasn't South Point supposed to be the first site out of the gate? I hate to see where they're at if this the current state and they weren't as"ready".

Why can't we play on stars? Oh right it was because these very same entities who are offering these crap sites lobbied hard against them in the first place. How can anyone who used to play on stars ever want to play on a site like this? To quote one of my favorite films, "People don't drink the sand because they're thirsty, they drink it because they don't know the difference."

Probably disable Norton for a moment to download our software? Not entirely sure what you're seeing, but it seems like Norton is playing little miss nanny at the moment for you.

Okay thanks. It's important that the consequences are made clear to people like me that have no honor, no dignity, no home, but only poker to be played.

i'm able to play as my location is able to be verified so it doesn't seem to affect anything but even when i tell it to "take me to the page anyway" it doesn't load the normal IE popup page properly

Thanks for the feedback. It is certainly bumpy for the people who can't get online, I'll agree with you there. However, we worked really hard at meeting regulatory requirements. Converting our software into something that both passes regulation and "just plays poker" is not a trivial task. We busted our butts to do so, though, and that's why we're here now. We just thought it was worth getting a game to Nevada, even if that game is admittedly basic. Regulation is a great thing but it doesn't happen automatically, it needs to be built.

Here's what I can promise you, though. We aren't done. We aren't even close to done. We have smart people, dedicated people, experienced people, and the backing of one of the biggest and best casinos in Nevada. Plus, we're sitting behind the owners of the UFC. Do you remember what the UFC was 15 years ago? I'll give you a hint - it was not what it is now. There's a reason *I* believe that this company is going to "get there, one time, so sick" - it's because the ownership is committed to doing this right.

This isn't a skin, this isn't a site hidden in an overseas bunker behind neverending lobster dinners. We're here in Nevada, with names, faces, and the experience of the past decade of online poker to back it up.

Is it perfect? No. Is it awesome? Yep.

Hm, that is strange. Try this. Open up IE, go to Tools, Security tab, and for the "Internet Zone", there might be a checkbox called "Protected Mode" or something like that. Uncheck that, IE will complain a little (slap it, click NO), and restart Ultimate Poker.

Let me know if you have any luck with that.

Rumor has it that some guy named Zack Morris tried this and was caught when his IP leaked, and his name was given to the NGC and he's been banned from ever having an account on any American site for the rest of his life.

But Zack is a clever little scoundrel, and he decided to open another account using his friend's name, Samuel Powers, (he's was the guy dumping stacks in the 3/6 games under the screen name 'Screech'), and supplied Samuel's ID, SSN and the lot.

Now he's doing a stint in the pen for multiple counts of fraud, where his crack hoes, Jesse and Kelly, smuggle heroin inside expired fish tacos to pay off his gambling debts in dominoes and divert Warden Belding's advances by putting him on the nod.

Anyway, just a rumor. I'm sure it's fine.

These $3/$6 games have average pots two, three, and sometimes four times larger than the one on Stars. *DROOL*

Well, I tried to get location verified, but let me add my voice to the "No such luck, i run bad on location services" as I tried two different phones, one t-mobile, the other AT&T (yes with LTE disabled) and no joy. I assume that means I am not going to be able to play any time soon from Southern Henderson Nevada. I did email Customer support, but got the usual form letter back about verizon not working and turning off LTE. I really doubt there is much that can be done but I figured they could use the statistics

Do you use IE normally? If you use Firefox or Chrome normally it is possible that any number of downloads have stuck some adware or toolbar crap into IE and you have never noticed it. I had to remove some Ask.com junk that was on mine and kept opening extra search windows.

the last thing that matters but I am in kansas and dowloaded the software to rail. Didnt work for me
05-03-2013 , 07:53 PM
I'm waiting for another Nevada poker site to open, one with a working site that you can actually sign up for and play on. Does anybody know who and/or when?
05-03-2013 , 08:14 PM
Am in Colorado, and had no trouble downloading and railing. Just a data point.

Maybe the software needs more elevation than Kansas provides?
