It was posted earlier that there may be a timeout issue in play from the location verification provider, that has to be adjusted. This is what may be bagging you.

hopefully when they fix that will let me get verified while using my phone as hotspot.

Super jealous of you, Nevada! As an East Coast player I guess I will continue to send my money offshore.......
Hopefully the rest of the U.S.A. states see how this is a good thing and get on board soon.

RDC is not painfully slow. I have done it to other countries just to even get a look at some sites' software and it worked quite well. However, I did RDC from my laptop to my work comp just to see how traffic was looking and I got that warning about remote connections being refused.

There are definitely opportunities for improvements for Ultimate but with respect to not breaking the law, it's clear they put a big emphasis on it.

This is the technology they are using for location verification. It works great on the five phones(somebody try it on a Verizon phone) I have used. There seem to be some major issues in the implementation.

loc-aid demo

I don't know what software UP uses for phone triangulation, but try loc-aid detects verizon or any brand phone, 4g, lte etc... no problem - here's a link to a free demo, any chance to get UP to upgrade it's cell locating software - it's pretty weak (lots of brands out there)

took it 5 seconds to locate my phone

loc-aid demo
I ran this on my verizon mobile and they were within a 1/2 mile.

They are using loc-aid through another vendor. I don't know all the details but I think their payment processing vendor is also responsible for location verification. So, the system request has to go from UP, to another vendor, thru loc-aid, and back. Somewhere in that mess there is an issue.

So, we're starting to try to untangle the cell phone triangulation thing. Ideally we want it to work for everyone, without fail. However, it seems that possibly the reason it's failing is that some towers take a very long time to report the location.

We use a company called "LocAID" for this. If you'd like, try using their web based applet to locate you and note the time. If it's less than about 10 seconds, you *shouldn't* have problems locating. You can find this here:

http://instantlocatedemo.loc-aid.com/

My cell phone (centrally located) locates in about 6 seconds and I've never had a problem logging into our development environments.

I have literally tried running the demo and logging on simultaneously. Demo finds me in as little as 5 seconds. UP client has yet to find me

I am getting ready to start my 30 mile tour of Starbucks from Nellis to Rainbow with my laptop, AT&T smart phone and T-mobile burner.

You can also mail them a check.

any price on how long this site lasts

So the way it essentially works is that we have an agreement with Verifi, who has an agreement with loc-aid. We need a separate agreement with cell phone carriers to leverage loc-aid's service against. Loc-aid has their own agreement with cell phone carriers for their demo program.

If you're on Verizon and not able to play (and want to!), by all means, call them! (1-800-922-0204, then #, 6, 6 when it asks for your number, then enter the last four of your social).

U.P. stated that it can take up to 4 days for a depositing check to clear and that if you want to deposit a 2nd time during the wait...you need to use one of the other methods to deposit until the first check clears.

So it's more of an Verifi issue, if you directly reach an agreement with loc-aid this can be avoided - more of a business decision gone bad, than an actual software issue - at least we got to the bottom of it. any chance you guys will partner with loc-aid directly or any of the myriad of location services in the near future?

I can't go to a casino and deposit and there's no way to get a hold of support via email due to the enormous amount they're receiving. This launch is kind of a huge fail for N Nevada residents (a huge portion of the player pool).

Dax, what up?

Oh, and I CAN'T mail a check. The instruction link for that is broken too. So there is literally no way for me to get money on their site. That is sort of a huge fail if you launch a product that cannot be accessed by your customer base.
