Furthermore, UP support seems pretty clueless as to how to troubleshoot location verification related problems. So UP better get a good FAQ/troubleshooting guide up on their website pronto or explain to their CS reps how to troubleshoot these issues. Those customers that try and give up may not return. And try telling one of them that they need to go out and buy a burner lol. So obviously the ideal would be to find a technical solution to facilitate verification but barring that, the suggestions above stand.
Part of the reason we (I?) rely on 2+2 so much is because by and large you guys are the best and the brightest.
Tonight I talked to about 5 different people to try different things (including looking directly into the logs, testing various things with people, and so on).
I'm going to add something to the FAQ that may help those who are getting NO text messages at all - we think it might possibly be related to the short code (UPOKER) that we send from. Try sending a text message that says "YES" to 702-749-4998 (our long code) - you might at least be able to enable verification this way.
If we hear people are getting this to work this way, we're can ditch the short code (at least until we figure out why certain carriers are blocking it) and you should be off to the races.
Again, I want to THANK EVERYONE who's helped out in whatever small way. Testing, purchasing burner phones, helping me respond with commonly asked questions, and even the kind words of thanks make our very long days go by a little smoother right now. Every positive message that you guys have PM'd me (or posted directly in the thread) gets straight copy and pasted to our support staff (who are quickly starting to look like Ren from Ren and Stimpy).
