I agree. This seems incredibly tilting. I'm gonna get this changed as soon as possible.

I'm sure expansion will occur once other states see the benefits of online poker. So far nothing is concrete but I'd expect California to be at the top of the list considering their financial difficulties. NJ, Delaware have taken good steps.

Down the road I'd be shocked if Ultimate Poker isn't being offered throughout the world.

Please allow land lines. Please, please, please.

And if possible, walk in (Palace Station) registration and verification. Please.

Just so it's clear, I think that we're at a critical time in iGaming in the United States. But I should stick to my area of expertise here and leave the legislation commentary to people of a higher pay grade. From here on out I'm going to defer the legislation questions to our PR and Exec team, with all due respect. I think it's critically important, but this forum (and account) aren't probably the best place for that. I was hired to talk about poker and the product, so that's what I'll do.

Now, we were thinking of getting rid of all hold'em games and moving to a 100% BMTC mix (Badugi/Murder/Thermonuclear/Chowaha) site. Thoughts?

My dad's phone won't let automated texts come through. No idea why. We both have same carrier and phone. His won't, mine will. Called customer (no)service, they have no idea what I am talking about. Guess he is SOL?

A CAPTCHA (pron.: /ˈkæp.tʃə/) is a type of challenge-response test used in computing as an attempt to ensure that the response is generated by a human being. The process usually involves a computer asking a user to complete a simple test which the computer is able to grade. These tests are designed to be easy for a computer to generate but difficult for a computer to solve, but again easy for a human. If a correct solution is received, it can be presumed to have been entered by a human. A common type of CAPTCHA requires the user to type letters and/or digits from a distorted image that appears on the screen. Such tests are commonly used to prevent unwanted internet bots from accessing websites, since a normal human can easily read a CAPTCHA, while the bot cannot process the image letters and therefore, cannot answer properly, or at all.

Although most CAPTCHAs are letter pictures randomly generated, many of them have become difficult even for a human to read , so picture CAPTCHAs were created in which a human is shown a simple test to show a picture of a certain animal (given few animal pictures), which is simple for a human being to process, and therefore easy to pick, while a bot cannot process and solve the question because although it can analyze the picture, it cannot easily guess the animal.

Lots of people have commented on this (lack of) functionality, so let me detail a little bit of the process why you can't do this.

To do any "process" in Nevada, you have to explain that process in such a way that it adheres to the SIC - System of Internal Controls. These controls are put in place to prevent people from stealing, from losing money, from skirting tax payments and so on. To get a process approved takes several weeks to months, and to their credit, the GCB has actually moved with us quite rapidly.

We also have needed to train several hundred employees on the cage web app (what you use to deposit/cashout at the properties) and several thousand on who we are. That information doesn't always move from top to bottom as rapidly and completely as we'd like, so we strive to keep it simple. The simpler the app is and the "less the team members can do", the better they'll do it.

If you combine these two things, you have a situation where making a new process (registration at the cage) involves lots of complexity to make bulletproof. Lots of complexity means it may not be approved in the SIC, and lots of complexity means that the end experience will be difficult for cage members to execute on, it will be time intensive, and ultimately (ha) unpleasant for players.

Does any of that make sense? I've said it before, but I'll say it again. We're in a new time where regulation will change the way we do business, but we think it's ultimately (ha) going to be a good thing.

TL;DR: Registration at the cage is awesome in principle, difficult to execute.

I'm not surprised they didn't know what you were talking about since we don't actually have any phone customer service.

As always, email us at playercare@ultimatepoker.com. We're still trying to figure out why some people are getting text messages and others aren't. Sorry for the inconvenience - I don't really know more at this time than that.

This is one of those instances in which I fully advocate the billionaire owners of UP to lobby in California. California has publicly stated [regarding inter-state online poker] "We haven't talked to anyone in Nevada about it, and no one in Nevada has talked to us about it."

Which sounds to me like it would be a simple matter of, "Hey California lawmakers, how about we make a $10 million contribution to [insert something they want a contribution to here (likely their pockets)] and we get this inter-state gaming contract going!"

Seriously though. Nevada doesn't really have much to offer me, but, as I'm in the tech industry, California does. It would be magnificent to play online poker after work each day in California.

Also, site should be only open face chinese IMO.

Sketchy, I've read the entire thread and your tone is incredibly unhelpful. This is the FIRST day of this site. What you have mentioned in your last post HAS been mentioned before. For someone that has told others to read every post, perhaps you should do the same. Someone already mentioned that you get captcha'ed multiple times.

This is the start of what many of us have been waiting for. Let's look at the positives including a site rep/product manager that has taken so much time out of his busy schedule to answer questions.
This. Also, saying please doesn't hurt once in a while instead of cussing.

I meant I tried my dad's phone carriers customer service. This isn't the first time this has happened. Some other casinos have promos where you can sign up for automated text alerts and get free stuff. I can always do it, he can't.

Also, you mentioned having to train staff on the rigors of cage deposits and withdraws. I was VERY surprised how on top of things the people at Boulder Station were. Usually when something new like this comes out people are tripping over each other to see who can screw it up the most. I was expecting a response like "What poker site?", but was surprised that the Boulder crew knew exactly what to do, even though she said I was only the second person to deposit. Well done!

I spoke to the Cage Manager, Ken A. over there, several times on the phone today. He'd be pleased to hear that, so I'll pass on the words.

Overall, I've been absolutely thrilled with the training and enthusiasm the Stations guys have brought to the game. By and large, they're pumped for this, too.

It absolutely tilts the hell out of me that I cannot drive to stations, deposit and have them verify my identity.

Anonymous tables are a horrendous idea and I seriously hope that your site does not implement this. We need to remember that a huge element of online poker is the fun aspect. Even though we are sitting behind computers the use of screen names allows us to have social interactions with other players. For the majority of players it's not just about mindlessly grinding 10 tables for hours on end.

Poker itself is all about learning how a certain player plays and using that information to gain an advantage. That's not a bad thing and it doesn't necessarily mean that bad players will be slaughtered by the regs. You can allow things like periodic screen name changes. You can bad Sharkscope access. You can make datamining more difficult by only offering hand histories on request. Turning everybody into Player1, Player2, etc does far more damage than good.

I sent in a scan of my ID hours ago and am anxiously waiting for it to be verified. None of my emails to support or playercare have been answered yet.
