It isn't about whether the UltimateBet scammers have access to your software. It is a question of your company rewarding the UltimateBet scammers with business (essentially the poker community rewarding them) after they built their company on the back of cheating players.

By extension, you are aligning your product with fraudsters, why would players be strongly inclined to believe your pronouncements of who has access? Obv back in the day, UB claimed that nobody could see hole cards and that didn't work out so well.

As I am heading out the door, I give UP.com one last try and Vwah-lah my Nevada location is finally verified. (after hours of being unverifiable)...

Not sure what to make of this but I would give a T-mobile pre-paid phone a try If you are still having this problem.

Hello, microsoft security essentials seems to consider the download as "unsafe" and I do not know how to get past that.

Any advice on how to get the download accessible ?

(It does the download, but won't let me open it. )

I am in Nevada, on a PC, running Windows 7.

i would use this as a casual, occasional player in NV who just wants to waste an odd afternoon, but until it gets to a wider region, no displaced internet pro can return to making a living off this. moreso, no new pros can start. first off, the microstakes are not there. the lowest bb is 0.50, i'm guessing because of the increased regulatory cost, so you need $2500 to start grinding responsibly (150bb = 3% means bankroll is 5000x the bb on each table) which is more than new aspirants want to pop off right away. for example, when i started on stars it was 0.05/0.10 with $600. it's only in nevada so much lower fish/pro ratio. also because it's only a state they can't do as many player endorsements to expand. for instance, if they wanted to appeal to women and sign a us female pro like a musumeci or something, there are just not that many with a successful track record based in vegas. as far as i know the only endorsement is esfandiari? i saw one thing implying terrence chan maybe? there is no esfandiari on their website either. it's not like the starts or ftp pros who are all over those sites. since they have the advantage of being first, i could see them going into colorado and other nearby states when they legalize, and maybe after a while it will get to an economy of scale. but it is definitely not +ev for an internet pro to start grinding on it. at least not the low-stakes ones. maybe the big dogs don't see a difference because they are facing pros anyway.

I have texting disabled on my iPhone is there a required text needed for signup?
I do have a texting app but it doesn't work for text alerts etc. would that work for verification?

@Dax

I realize it's a topic you don't want to discuss, but I think ignoring our concerns damages PR more than saying something like, "We'll be answering this question before the week is out."

So, I would like to ask you, directly, to comment on the fact that Ultimate Poker is using software from Iovation, whose CEO and founder is Greg Piersen.

Please and thank you.

Great post, way to add to the conversation. Thumbs up!

At the risk of TL;DR couple of big picture thoughts on this great day:

The Name: They are trying to take advantage of brand recognition of the UFC with millions of primarily male fighting fans who are ripe for bringing into poker. I'm glad they are catering to those (hopefully largely fish) and not the <100 UB-controversy extenders who reside here. Your average UFC fan probably doesn't even know what UB is (or was). Think big picture people!

The Regulation:
I have faith in the Nevada gaming control board and that they have kept "bad actors" out of this operation. Whether they are using, in some carefully limited capacity, verification software that has become somewhat of an industry standard does not change that. The actual game software is wholly owned by the operators and based in California. As someone said, this is now arguably the most secure site in the world with actual U.S. brick and mortar locations you can cash out at if you choose.

The Hypocrisy of the U.S.:
I find it so ridiculous that I have to travel to the world center of live poker in order to play online poker. Yet, unlike the skill game of poker, I can play mindless lotteries in almost every State. Hopefully, a poker site that passes continued muster of Nevada regulators will spearhead legalization in and linkage to other States once they smell the revenue. States like CA, FL and NY could see many times the revenue that NV will with their larger populations.

Anyway, big props to the founders of this site and best of luck to them. They'll have some launch glitches like anyone, but timing the launch right before WSOP, signing Esfandiari, and their efforts to be transparent immediately bode well for their future.

Everyone here should just be part of their braintrust and make suggestions to them on anything they think needs improvement--that's how we all can help make this thing (the only thing we have) go.

Hopefully all goes well and nothing like UB bs will happen. Also, posting in an epic thread.

"going to have 100BB stacks in the future," and implying that it would be quite soon, says poker room manager dude on QJ show.

Tables seem to be 20-50bb (MAX) correct me if I'm wrong? Is this a requirement by Nevada to protect fish or??
04-30-2013 , 02:39 PM
For us Mac users that can't download and see, how many people are playing on the site?
04-30-2013 , 02:39 PM
Is there a particular reason the software continually logs me out after about one minute?
04-30-2013 , 02:39 PM
I haven't played online in a while, but did the major poker sites have tables with 150-200bb max buy-ins, or was everything pretty much 100bb max?

But does anyone know why they don't seem to be that interested in shared liquidity.

Is it because ti will be taxed by the American government therefore If I play from Ireland it get a little complicated.

The French let us play on .FR but we cannot get onto .IT which is a bit unfair.

From a PokerNews interview with Ultimate Poker’s Chief Marketing Officer Joe Versaci:

I think for me it’s important to note what the players can expect, and what they can expect is a throwback to five, six, seven years ago when poker players ran poker sites and decisions were made in the best interest of the players. Every account was looked at, and every player was treated with the highest quality level of service. We brought in the guys that we think are the best in the industry to do that. It’s an exciting time.

I'm sorry but that is just too LOL not to post and a bit shocking that the chief marketing officer would be so tone deaf to say such a thing.
