oregon myrtle, called california bay laurel down south, is native to OR and CA and isn't an actual myrtle. it also doesn't put on the flowery show that crepe laurel does.
to Ray's point, i'm pretty sure you can't drive through a single coastal town in oregon without seeing some sort of myrtlewood gallery, and the wood can sell from between $10-30/lb depending on color and figuring.
