only about 2%... more blood bath may be on the way. hope it wont wipe out the giant gains the past 9 months. dont think so.
the fed has to really say something stupid tomorrow for that to happen.
My investments are fine, even if a large drawdown. I’ll cash in some very soon to bolster my cash flow and short term savings, for spending on my next trip to Europe and elsewhere.
Ray - not sure if you know so i'll write it: Jim Carroll wrote The Basketball Diaries which is mostly autobiographical and taken from the diaries he kept as a high school kid. the movie is based on his book.
Cut and hacked and chained-sawed a whole bunch stuff. Got a lot of brush to burn but also I got some great myrtle for firewood. Once I get all the brush all piled up, I'll have a great fire and send smoke signals into the sky to warn Allah that I'm still alive and hate His guts. I love drinking whiskey while watching the flames shoot into the heavens. Live is good.
still cleaning up from the great PDX President's Day ice storm of 2021.
have a 100+ foot tall fir in the front part of the property that had something at the top break under the weight of ice and proceed to wipe every single branch off an entire side of the tree as it fell. all the branches are currently deposited on top of a couple of rhodies that were likely first planted 70 years ago when the house was built. hoping to save something of the rhodies once all the branches are cleared, but not very optimistic.
don't plan on burning anything outside, but cutting rounds to split later for the fireplace. fir is quick burning, but hey it's free, right?
douglas fir burns great. it isnt really a fir tree. some call it oregon fir.
most other firs leave a lot of pitch so if you use them burn them hot and dont shut them down at night.
agree Mack. You can typically prune the hell out a rhodie and they’ll snap back in a season or two. these are currently crushed under the weight of about a chord and a half of wood, so not so optimistic.
The Rhododendrons will survive, they will even sprout back from the roots.
Spent most of yesterday burning that pile of brush and reduced everything to nothing but hot ash. It was still hot this morning, despite it freezing last night. Have had a constantly cool February and into March.
This morning, before heading out for more work about the place, I’m sipping great coffee and listening to Sonny Rollins. Life is good.
Persons known and unknown tried stabbing me in the back*. No blood and it only left a small hole in my sweater, a sweater by the way I purchased in Sicily. Such is life.
i got two giant sequoias at my shop on the coast. one is getting pretty big, no getting any arms around it. the other maybe 4 feet around. both fairly tall. not native but planted there by somebody long gone. the whole large yard area is covered in huckleberries. yum.
