Gin and tonic. After dinner I had some Amaretto. It is smooth and pleasing. I'll have a few snorts of Single Malt Scotch before reading myself to sleep. After checking all my guns to make sure they are loaded and ready.

Seems like a nice evening. I’d mostly go for the single malt.

That singer, van Zandt, was the Best,
His talent has blessed the whole West,
With warble and yodel,
With lyrics so noble,
His singing's eclipsed all the rest.

Phat Mack deserves a bottle of Oban for that Limerick. Nicely done. I volunteer Ray to buy you that bottle of Oban, Phat.

was in Oban fall of 2019 and went to the distillery. after we were done we were calling it the dis-sillery.
The Oban Fish and Chip Shop is a great chippy just a two minute walk (or a four minute stagger) up George Street.

I’m jealous, need to get to Islay and places like Oban. I’ve only been to the other side Aberdeen and Inverness for work. They have some of the best Highland Scotch up there but I prefer the coastal stuff.

balvenie, macallan are two i buy

glenlivit in the poker dive bars as its usually the only top shelf. sometimes chevis.

johnny blue when my friend is buying and insists. 25 or more a shot for a blended. not worth it.

I love peated whisky. Taste like a used band-aid, delicious.

I have Balvenie on my shelf now - 14 year old Caribbean Cask- it is one of my favorites. And Macallan is not bad either.

On the rocks is the best way to drink most Single Malt. Unless of course you just want to take a nip straight from the bottle.

i'm sure there are others, but the beauty of the Oban distillery is it's location: right in the middle of town. easy walking distance to where we were staying. we drove past a few other distilleries on that trip (it wasn't a whisky journey) but decided not to go because they're in somewhat remote locations that required driving to and from. last thing i want to do is fully enjoy a distillery tour and tasting room then have to drive somewhere.

3. wee rock

Rain, rain and more rain the last week. Cold also. Finally today a break so a walk on the beach but it is sill cool and some wind. Winters here are difficult at times. I've been lucky the last two winters; I spent part of November, all of December and part of January in Europe. No such luck this year for obvious reasons.

I'm on the north side of a hill so hardly get any sun in the Winter. Starts getting much better by the end of February. Nov 15 to Feb 15 is dismal at the homestead. A major drawback.
