I read about that last year when I was here. Enticing. As usual there are a few small print items: the places are ruins or run down and you have to spend a certain amount within a set timeframe fixing them up to quality. And they are in rural/dismal locations - part of the reason of the offerings and probably other stipulations, etc. Make a good hideout I was thinking. Maybe you, I, and Ray can pool up some cash, for the fix up money, and get a place.

Sicily, after all, is a dream land.

Yeah, I've been thinking along the same lines. If Hong Kong goes down in flames I'm going to have to get a job as a Walmart greeter, cash a coupla paychecks and then book it. Sicily is kinda of enticing. I have a feeling they'd understand me there.

I exit Sicily today for ten days in Germany. Then back to Sicily for round two. Yesterday I went up on the east slope of Mt. Etna and hiked and had a wonderful lunch at a small secluded restaurant.

I find this comment fascinating please explain what makes Sicily god country and what you find so annoying about France? I feel like your perhaps doing France wrong. That and perhaps you’re biased to like Sicily due to your own hotheaded, stubborn Sicilian blood. That being said most American Sicilians tend that go back home find little that’s appealing on the island.

Sicily is full of honest, open hatred which is fun and invigorating. The French are supercilious, and the dislike is clouded in superfluous layers of twaddle. Or so it seems, employing stereotypes. Which is also fun however misguided it may be to some.

The gothic Cologne Cathedral is an awesome and spectacular building; inside and out. Rivals Notre Dame in impressiveness. Took close to 800 years to complete.

Cathedral in Aachen is majestic. Christmas markets abound in Germany selling trinkets, silly food, and warm wine. Apple cheeked children are in heaven. Also puppet theaters give the youngsters an extra treat.

These were very simple: puppet stick figures or a standard hand puppet (not a true marionette w/strings) but done on the same type of stage with simple stories. At one the puppeteer was interactive with the kids in the audience and asked questions; humor being the main theme.
