A friend, that happens to work for the federal government, sent me some flies. This is how he mounted them in the package. Draw your own conclusions. I won't complain, free flies are free flies. This friend also makes excellent homemade fly rods. I have one he game me for a present years ago. It's a beauty.

they will work for steelhead and most larger trout. they look like variations of the famous black ghost and grey ghost. which ive used to catch landlocked salmon in maine, large rainbows and browns.
first fly i put on for big trout is usually a muddler minnow.

I went salmon fishing at the mouth of some river, it was a very pleasant and warm day. I did not catch anything. Did not even see a fish of any kind. No one else caught a fish either. So it wasn't just me. The few seals bobbing about by the river mouth probably did much better. And that is my salmon season for the year.

This Monday, if the Apocalypse doesn't happen before then, I will be headed to Urp. I will be there until the end of the year. By which point I will probably be praying for the Apocalypse.

first time i went out west and crossed the mississippi river and had dinner, and they served frozen vegetables with it i got a sickening feeling about the food out here.
bread that comes off the truck, things in cans and comes out of packages. ick. thats what grandma makes.

it will annoy me. and much of the time my connection is very slow and it may take a few minutes just to load this thread. he knows that and likes to get even with me. but i have a few things up my sleeve.
plus he always sticks a bunch of pictures of himself in there.
