Beet greens are very good; better tasting than spinach.

I water around the apple tree only. The rest of the lawn I just let go - I'm helping to save the planet by not wasting water. The ignorant and sanctimonious sobbing liberals should give me a medal.

like where you are there is a shortage of water. the medal you may get may be a chain and a concrete block along with a boat ride.

Strawberries look solid. Cat paw seems to approve. Just came back from France the in-laws had these fantastic strawberries in the garden. The grocery stores also sell strawberries that have nothing in common with what we have here. There smaller more round and full of favor.

Zee should write a Dear Abby column. He's good at pointing out the obvious exactly where it's needed most.

Watering lawns leads to more mowing. Zeno, as a well-dressed man about town, most likely does not get excited about mowing.

The pics below are from a Blacksmith Art Gallery in Ferndale, California that I recently visited. I found this very interesting and unique, especially as a display and as something for sale.

These are really cool looking. I assume they were on the inside of the pub. The town I grew up in had a bunch of old pre-20th century houses with functioning shutters. I used to love watching people close them when hurricanes were coming. For some reason it still bothers me to see a house with decorative non-functioning shutters.

yea do not touch metal and wood windows.

and if you like them you can find a blacksmith someplace to make duplicates for about 400 a window. unless of course you are in california.

My friend that lives in Sicily has functioning shutters on all her windows, and for good reasons. It was a ritual opening and shutting them everyday. Same for my friends in the south of France.

Celebrating the still on going summer along the Coast. Pic of my fabulous gin and tonic that I add strawberries to from my garden. The strawberries soak up all goodness and flavor and I gulp them down after finishing the drink. Super delicious.

Did have some rain but just the right amount to clean the air and water the apple tree and garden.

The two forked-horned bucks had their fight and the winner walked away with all the hot babes. The loser was out in the front yard today, all alone and moping.

Working away on inside of home and continuing with improvements outside and the landscaping. Will put in a fire pit/seating area out back. Near where I BBQ. Good whiskey sipping area on quiet evenings. Or a party area if I feel like whooping it up a bit.

So, not a gin rickey, a gin and tonic. It's all clear to me now.

Garden is done for the year; may still get a few strawberries but that's it. Tomatoes all picked and plants pulled - too cool for rest of tomatoes to ripe on the vine - going inside for storage. They either ripen up or I have fried green tomatoes.

Very successful garden this year - Next year Tomatoes are going under portable greenhouse structures that I will build. Only way to insure that I will get ripe ones by September. Too cool at night around here.

Picked some huckleberries today. Rain is coming soon so needed to get some before. Huckleberry pancakes are the nuts - God has them every morning for breakfast along with a delicious cut of ham, some sourdough toast, and a cup of Java. God feels so good afterward, He sends a blizzard to Montana to annoy Ray Zee. I would too.
