I've been telling people for years that Zeno is really Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm, now he's finally admitting it.

I finished the Myrtlewood side table that I’ve been working on for awhile. The small myrtlewood slab is from a tree that I needed to hack down being too close to the home. I let the slab season for over two years before starting work on it. The legs are steel, called hairpin style. I left the bark on the side and unfinished to give a more rustic look to the table. The top is finished in semi-gloss polyurethane. That brings out and brightens up the grain more than a wax that I tried first but it was too subdued and I felt that more gloss and grain emphasis was needed.

Mr. Zee can come down and pick up it for a nominal fee.

Nice table, I’m a noob in relation to this and many things but to season for a table is it essentially the same as firewood?

Not really - many slabs of wood that you wish to make into a table should be seasoned for years - not just the one year (hard wood) or six months (soft wood) usually required for firewood.

You need the longer time to allow the slab to crack/warp or just dry naturally into its final form and shape. I've seen people season say black walnut or redwood for 3-5 years. It also depends on the thickness of the slab and your local humility/weather and how you store it etc. Obviously, large and thick table slabs required more time that a 1 or 1.5 inch thick smaller slab of wood.

Doe with twin fawns been hanging about my place. Cute little things. The cats thinking they are small enough to stalk.

One cat chased one of the fawns (hidden by foliage on far left of photo) into the tiny creek:

The Gazebo is great, too bad it is on my neighbor's property. I've room to build my own but have other priorities at the moment.

Garden is doing great, will soon have fresh peas. No pics, it would make everyone too jealous.

Lots of boats at the mouth of the Rogue, trolling for those famous Rogue salmon.

Beautiful day on the coast; God is being kind.

I was just through eastern and central Montana recently. It is far too yellow for my tastes.

By "god," I presume that you mean "July and August"

eastern montana is desolate and boring. central near the mountains can be nice but still sparse.

what the heck is being too yellow??

they are definitely right wing if that is what you mean.

I'm pretty sure the yellow was rapeseed/canola flowers in the grasslands.

I did like the mountains. They were mountain-shaped and not too yellow.

the canola is farmed in places that should still be grasslands or sage brush.

It’s often said (amongst us from the western part of the state) that it would be nice if we could annex the eastern 2/3 of MT to the Dakotas

Obv biased but Northwestern MT is amongst the most beautiful places anywhere

The coast is being overrun by tourists; many from California, the sickest state in the Union.

In all my years about this place I've never seen so many tourist/vile traffic of every stripe from surfers/kite-boarders, to motorcyclist, to bicyclists it to the massive RV crowd. It's incredible.
