Hey HUMBLE.!

It feels like posts kind of suck now that am no longer in sunny Cali, and am back home - now it's just me with my seasonal affective disorder, and my disorganized portfolio

Yeah, for sure will post any interesting happenings - it feels like the investing section of 2+2 has really taken off this year, with all that's happened with crypto this year, and now there's those investment contests ... so guess this is a great year to try out new things and explore all the investing stuff that's out there? Will be able to do updates on my options on Tuesday and Thursday, and may also try some value investing if am able to find anything that looks promising?

Hope everybody's enjoying their weekend - have a nice long weekend HUMBLE.!!

Went to Canadian Tire this morning to pick up various cleaning supplies Long hair's sheds a lot and isn't drain-friendly, so needed to pick up one of those drain covers that catches everything so won't need to keep buying Draino? And then also had the chance to stock up on more Lysol wipes - they're so handy for every day use ... although they claim that they get rid of cold and flu germs, yet seem to have picked up a lil bit of a cough. Was going to stay home this afternoon and work on stocks anyways, but for sure will now that have maybe picked up a little something?

Anyways, so went to go pay for my cleaning supplies at checkout, and the cashier asked me for my Canadian Tire money card. Looked in my wallet and pulled out a card, and it turned out to be the bonus gift certificate was given last year for buying a Roots gift certificate. So my entire purchase wound up being free - what a wonderful surprise!

Also saw this special promo - would be lovely to be able to get like a $50 Roots gift card to buy gifts with ... then could keep the bonus $10 Canadian Tire gift card for myself lol

Guess that also means haven't been back to Canadian Tire in over a year - and may not be the only one who's not shopping there much? The retail apocalypse seems to be very real

Have noticed that they've started to sell discounted gift cards for Canadian Tire at Real Canadian SuperStore - not sure if Canadian Tire is able to make much money any more if the only way they can get people to come to their store is by offering discounts all the time? Their prices are as low as No Frills', but guess they need so much space they can't have as many locations and stuff like that?

Hope Canadian Tire is able to stay in business - it's such an institution. Will probably pick up a couple of those gift certificates and make a point of going back to shop there, because their prices are good ... especially with the 10% discount!

Oh, and speaking of No Frills - the Loblaws empire got sued for price fixing, and now they're giving out a class action settlement of $25 gift cards to anyone who bought bread in the last 10 years ... have already submitted my form, so hopefully the gift certificate will be arriving soon? Also, bread at No Frills is about half the price it used to be

Anyways, should get going with my stock readings - am also playing the Storm, where my fishy table image appears to be back lol

Guess the PCA ME final table may be streaming as well? Will have to check that out too - hope everybody's having a nice day

Really enjoy watching these main event final tables, because there always seems to be at least one recreational who's able to make it deep with a run of a lifetime, like John Hesp did in the WSOP? So then there's a nice range of play, from super high rollers, to live and online grinders ... all the way down to someone who's living the dream

Pretty fun that the farmer wound up cashing for over $300k US! Guess winning the online satty qualifier also gave him a reason to escape the snow and cold for a week

Anyways, am doing some reviews of my options purchases for the week, so can hopefully get better prices with the ones am hoping to pick up this week? Kindle Unlimited's been so helpful to have - the info in books seems to be a bit more detailed than what's oftentimes available from articles on the internet?

Gosh, the PCA Freeroll has really puffed up in numbers today, with this being the ME final table on stream today - so many people watching today, also wanting to play a little freeroll on the side

May pass on the freeroll - the ones on 888 seem to be worth about 33c quite a bit of the time ... so almost 3x the value of the ones on Stars?

Almost time for dinner - will maybe just make a little soup and grilled cheese sandwich, and take it easy ...

Wow, big spot in the PCA - oh Canada!

Board: AKxJ7

Koray Aldemir: bet-bet-shoves with 33, and Maria Lampropoulos still in with a shorter stack
Shawn Buchanan: has A7o
Everybody in chat on Twitch: Call Sean, call callll!!1!!
Maria commentary: he should fold
Sean Buchanan: tanks ... folds

What a spot - not easy!

Can't remember what's been on tv the last couple of Sunday nights, but had forgotten that Shark Tank is also on?

Looks like there was a teenager who was on last week, who's invented some sort of waterproof shirt ...

The preview for tonight's show doesn't look so great - but guess it can be interesting to hear how people are finding starting and running small businesses, and be able to hear tips and feedback from the sharks like Mark Cuban?

May watch it while the PCA's on? Am still looking over possible options for next week too - there's between something like 200-250 companies reporting earnings next week, so it's been taking a while to go through the list

Maybe Comcast (CMCSA) might be a good one to get? Will maybe have to take a closer look at how swingy they may be? And how much their options may be selling for on Tuesday?

May need to turn in soon ...

Only managed to find one company to buy options for next week? Although there's a couple of others that seem like they could be okay?

Forgot that the US market will be closed tomorrow for MLK day, so will have to see what the prices might be like on Tuesday morning - that's the same time when Citigroup reports their earnings, so will be able to sell that option at the same time. That's the one that maybe paid too much for, and the profits aren't so high right now ... so hopefully they managed to hold, and don't wind up taking a turn into the red?

Oh well, guess it was a learning experience either way - and hopefully will manage to get a better price with my next try ...

Turning in now, zzz

Even though the order desk appears to be closed today, it looks like the system's showing all the prices for everything now - so here's the current price for a Comcast (CMCSA) call at a $42.50 strike price ... it's $1.05

Guess making noob mistakes has its benefits, because paying too much for my Citigroup (C) option last week helped me to figure out what a reasonable price to pay for a CMCSA option might be?

Guess will have to hope the price comes down about $0.20 to $0.35 cents, or about 20% to 35%, before will be able to buy? That's how much my Citigroup options tanked before rebounding up to not nearly as much as they would have if had paid a reasonable price to begin with So guess will have to see if the price drops sometime in the next couple of days - otherwise will maybe have to recheck the list and see if there's something else that may seem a bit more promising?

Hopefully am on the right track with these things, if am learning new things with each new one?

This post feels kind of boring Will maybe have to try to find some fun cat pics on the internet later to help spice things up a bit more in this thread lol ... meow meow >^..^<

Already in my jammies, and am ready to hit the study books

Was hoping to learn more about how to find potential value stocks tonight - have tried in the past though, and so often it seems like looking for help on the internet can wind up feeling like it can take a lot of sifting through stuff, just to find those couple of little helpful gems?

And it's not because am usually watching silly shows on tv at the same time, like The Bachelor - even though that happens too lol

Like here a crypto article from yesterday that seemed really great from the description - but didn't actually wind up offering the help it seemed to promise?

So that took some time to read, and stuff.

Anyways, so will see how things go - am also still working on my end of year summary too ... from last year Not sure when will have that ready to post - maybe sometime before March?

Exploring Value Investing

The vast majority of my stocks are growth picks of quality companies that provide valuable goods and services, who grow steadily over time - like Amazon.

And then have been trying to buy low and sell high some Canadian pot stocks on the side, with mixed results - we appear to be up ... today, anyways

Also, have recently started buying a couple of options, of low volatility growth stocks that tend to routinely surpass earnings expectations.

So next, was hoping to maybe try buying some value stocks, of companies who have been struggling the last while, who appear to have possibly managed to turn things around? Guess stocks of such companies may sometimes have more room to grow because the price of the stocks may have become quite cheap?

Have been looking for ways to try and find potential value stocks, and found a stock screener over at Zacks.com that helped me find some. It looks like a membership is usually needed to use the screener, but since it's been over a year since was last signed up for a free trial, was eligible to have another?

Here's what the screener looks like ...

Then used this screener:

And up popped this recommendation, for MDCO ...

With the following analyst estimates:

That graph of the company's share price last year doesn't exactly inspire confidence But guess that's what the graph of value stocks will tend to look like, if they're buy low and sell high picks?

Maybe in addition to having the chance to possibly earn 100% gains, picking up a couple of shares of this stock may be a chance for me to work on improving my tendency to do the opposite of buying low and selling high?

One thing am not so sure about - have so far only bought stocks of companies who are already turning a profit, so have avoided companies like Tesla (TSLA). Not sure if it would be better to try to find a value stock that's already turning a profit, or maybe it doesn't matter?

Here's this company's earnings for last year:

Guess maybe tomorrow, can try to find out more about why analysts feel the company may be poised for a turnaround this year, and see if that helps?

Still feeling pretty beat, so am going to turn in now - more tomorrow

The stock from my stock screener's down 6% today - not sure if should be buying the dip, or what? lol

On the other hand, may buy some bitcoin if the price drops down to about US$10.3k, if Korea's only about 5% of the bitcoin market anyways? The rsi on the 1yr timeline only seems to drop down to around 30 about once every 3 months ... and then there's always a really nice bounce ...

My option mistake wound up turning out okay in the end - was maybe super fortunate to get bailed out by some beginner run-good, because my mistake of paying too much seems like it was probably pretty huge?

The Comcast (CMCSA) options was eyeing have come down quite a bit in price - but only because today the company announced that they're getting sued for patent infringement by TiVo ... again And last time TiVo sued them for patent infringement, they lost

Not sure if they're still such a good buy any more?

So just a couple of updates - also, it's sunny out for the first time in a week ... really nice to have some sunshine ...

Just bought 2 bitcoin at $10,276 - guess am hoping when the rsi on the 1yr timeline hits 30, there'll be a big bounce ... possibly all the way back up to $14k or so?

Not sure if there's a chance that traders won't swoop in to buy when the rsi hits 30 or if the price goes down to $10k? But have placed a stop-loss of $9k, just in case?

So guess am hoping to be risking $2.4k to hopefully make as much as $8k? Is that right, or are my numbers possibly off by a decimal or what have you??

GL to all of us who have some crypto!!

Will have to see what happens to the price when the pink line hits 30 - if it keeps dropping ... it seems like it should turn around eventually, but not sure how low things may go, if they don't stop at the 30 like it usually does?

Some of those other coins like ripple were down over 50% - may wind up wishing had bought some XRP and ETH as well ... but guess maybe better to keep things simple and not get carried away?

A lot of poker players don't seem to think very highly of ripple - is it kind of like the Taco Bell of crypto? Kind of low quality, but popular with the peeps?

The price of bitcoin just shot up all the way to something like $11k - not sure, but this could be the start of a turnaround? Many of the rsi's across the timelines are starting to turn around (the pink line above) - but maybe a little too soon to tell for sure though?

Hey HUMBLE. - thanks!!

Your investments have done so great this year, you must be thrilled to have made triple digit gains in not one but two cryptos. Although if investing's a bit like poker, guess downswings and variance are never fun - and the ones for crypto can sometimes be doozies ...

Sometimes the recoveries seem to happen just as quicky though? So hopefully that's the case this time as well? That would be nice

My 2 bitcoin were up over $2k in paper profits at one point - but wound up cashing out and pocketing only about $90 in actual profits, because am about to go to sleep and never seem to sleep well when am worried that about sell-offs happening in Asia while am dozing away?

Am not really seeing any signs of that happening or anything! Hopefully $10k is around the bottom - and hopefully things will pick up soon?

May try again tomorrow - night everybody

It's always nice to be able to laugh a little, even on the not so greatest of days. If your sleep wasn't the greatest last night, hopefully it'll be better today with bitcoin back above $11k and rising?

You could be onto something about the size of the investment HUMBLE. - because one of my options today that was up 115% last week started off the day down 20%, and it didn't seem to bother me at all? So that's kind of a funny contrast ...

Guess yes, the options were only $2k total, while my 2 bitcoin were over $20k.

Also, my options are for a company that reports earnings tomorrow morning - so guess it seemed possible that the price might bounce back by tomorrow morning?

Maybe if am seeing signs that Asia is willing to continue the rally, may try buying back in later tonight? Will have to see about my bet sizing - may still keep it the same if things look good ... will see?

The rally seems like it might be fairly strong-ish? But it looks like it may be due for a mini-correction? Will be interesting to see the size of any possible correction, because there's a couple of things ... if the correction's just a mini one, hopefully bitcoin may be on the move back up?

Hope to be able to buy around maybe ... $10.6k? And guess will hope to sell around ... $14k?? If possible?

Bitcoin's never dull, that's for sure!

Thanks for stopping by with that observation HUMBLE. Have been trying to improve my bet-sizing recently, so that's kind of neat that you bring that up - so thanks!

GL to us all today!!
