So today, my mom, my sister-in-law, and i were going to prepare dinner for all of us, as well as her parents and her brother and his wife and little girl, because her brother and his family are going to be flying back to Sacramento tomorrow morning to spend the rest of the day with his wife's family.
My sister-in-law however appears to have suddenly developed a headache early this afternoon, as well as a new-found appreciation for football - so she's been sitting on the couch all afternoon vegging while my mom and i do all the work ... fml
My sister-in-law actually doesn't cook, so guess it shouldn't have come as too much of a surprise that she wasn't going to be able to contribute all that much. We've actually been eating out all our meals at restaurants since we've arrived
Guess there's lots of people in California who are willing to work hard for entry-level pay, so they usually have someone who comes in for a couple of hours each week to buy groceries and make meals for them, except they're off for vacation right now? And then they'll also buy prepared foods and order take-out and eat out the rest of the time, etc?
Gosh, is it ever gorgeous out though! Don't tend to get jealous of too much in life, but wow is sunny California ever beautiful ...
People are so lucky to have t-shirt weather in December - guess there's a whole culture that goes with the great weather? There seems to be a great outdoor cafe culture, and farmer's markets everywhere. The one we went to this morning had a vendor who was serving up peace and love alongside avocado toast
Guess sunnier weather also means a wider variety of fresh local produce year-round - there seems to be a gazillion varieties of every fruit and veggie, and prices are really reasonable, even for organic produce ...
There also seems to be an abundance of really reasonably-priced fresh flowers as well ...
Looks like my nephews are headed out to buy some cookies to leave out for Santa tonight
My 6yr old nephew's really smart - asked him today if he would like to go visit Santa at the mall, since they hadn't already. And he was highly skeptical that the mall Santa could possibly real, because shouldn't he be loading up his sleigh and on is way to Australia at the moment? He didn't want to spend his time meeting with a fake Santa, so he said he wanted to pass
He already skipped a grade and is starting to get those comments from his teachers already about trying to learn how to be more tactful when correcting teacher's mistakes. Did everybody else here get those comments on their report cards growing up? Seem to remember being a couple of years older before that starting happening for me - but oh yes, that even happened to me lol!!
Was older than 6 tho
Anyways, have to go peel some potatoes, and should maybe check in on the turkey ...
