Going to have a little snack ...

For most of the year, we don't have the greatest selection of fresh local fruits here in Canada, like now that growing season is over - would be great one day to be able to try something like a pineapple that's been picked fresh off the tree, while it's super fresh and stuff?

In the fall, we do get an enormous selection of apples though - they had 8 different kinds at the store yesterday, so went and put one of each kind in my bag, so each day can close my eyes and pick a different one from the bag to give a try. Tonight's selection is ... cortland, we have a cortland!

(gosh, couldn't find an apple smiley except this one -> )

Will start looking over the bitcoin articles from today after my apple snack

Seem to have run out of steam

Managed to take a little look around, and it seemed to be a bit of a quiet day for bitcoin articles - maybe because the price didn't move around too much today?

Will take a closer look at things tomorrow

Tonight's Schedule

It looks today was a great day for bitcoin - now have enough to get a VW Beetle again, toot toot!!

More than anything, seem to almost feel relieved to see bitcoin back on an upward movement again, after all those wild swings over the weekend? Was so busy trying to read up on all the latest news and opinion pieces - today finally feels like a day where it should be okay to take a little moment to catch my breath, and relax for bit?

May spend today doing anything but bitcoin, for a change! Was able to get this neat variety pack of mini peppers at the store the other day - am going to use them to make a bbq chicken flatbread/pizza ...

And there may be just enough time to squeeze in a short walk around the block, before it starts to rain?

Also Survivor's on tonight, as well as the Great Canadian Baking Show. Am going to read my new books from Amazon while they're on tv

Maybe should also take a little time to check in with what's been happening in the stock market as well?

After coming home from my walk, am going to put on my jammies!

Well ... probably may wind up taking a quick look at bitcoin stuff after all Just in case. Will report back if there seems to be any fresh news?

Made my chicken flatbread/pizza - not totally sure what's the difference between a flatbread and a pizza ... but they used to have a flatbread on the menu at Swiss Chalet on sale for $12.98, and was able to make something similar at home for a fraction of the price

Although mine turned out more like a pizza ...

Going to crack open my new books now

Am onto my nightly apple now, lol ...

Tonight's selection is a Gala - Wikipedia says it was the #2 apple in 2006 ... not sure if it's managed to keep it's rating since then? It was quite tasty

Pretty nice day to be holding bitcoin, wasn't it? Hope you're having a nice evening HUMBLE.!!

Investing Update, Little Bitcoin Update

Hey HUMBLE. - am still posting haha! Just one quick post before bedtime

Stocks haven't been doing very well the last couple of days - and today there was this article from CNBC saying this slump could be prolonged, even if Congress manages to pass a tax reform bill before their break:
https://www.cnbc.com/2017/11/14/the-...-changing.html

Decided to sell the AAPL in my tax-free accounts and sit on the sidelines for a bit, to see how things go? So this may be it for 2017, unless am able to find something that's still doing well, with a little research ...

Was so happy with my returns before - but they seem so tiny compared to the type of gains bitcoin has been making!

Maybe with the stock market not doing well, people may start moving some of their funds to bitcoin? Is anybody else considering shifting a greater portion of funds into crypto? It's kind of tempting!

Daily Article with Bitcoin Price Movement Prediction

Today turned out to be a good day to take a break from reading the day's bitcoin articles, because it looks like other people may have been feeling the same way It seemed like there wasn't too much fresh news - so there was mostly those technical analysis reports, that only seem to be about 51% reliable? Today's report was really good though, so hopefully most if it turns out to be right!

The ones for BCH sounded like they expect things to go in the other direction.

Guess that's it for tonight - night everybody

Bitcoin update - now appear to have enough to afford the VW convertible

The $ have been piling up so quickly, it may even be time to start taking financial advice from Shaq?

Kind of like his idea of portioning off his $, to make sure he's got enough for the future, and is also enjoying the present Still haven't treated myself to anything with my windfall - will definitely have do something in celebration if bitcoin ever hits $250k!

Have to ship that camera back to Amazon, because it needs to be returned within 30 days of purchase - probably should have done it about 3 weeks ago Oh well, it will be nice to have that cleared up and out of the way - then can start some holiday shopping

Guess it's still a little early, but once the clocks turned back, it's almost like everybody collectively got a little seasonal affective disorder, and wanted to have something to look forward to? So people have been rolling out the holiday stuff all over town - one of the big holiday markets downtown even has a tree lighting tonight. It's a pretty famous holiday market - last year PM Trudeau even showed up to light the tree. And some of the craft shows may even be getting started this weekend.

Anyways - going to make a chicken and vegetable quiche for dinner, then will have to see what am feeling like doing after dinner. The only thing on the schedule tonight so far is SWAT at 10pm

Am on the mailing list for a bunch of travel websites and recipe websites - can't remember who sent the article, but today someone sent an email with a link to a story about visiting a pineapple farm, and it had pics of their visit. Was a little surprised to see the pics of the pineapple growing on the farm - do pineapples not grow on trees??

That's going to make it hard to try a pineapple picked fresh off the tree, if they don't grow on trees ...

Haven't had very much luck finding a recipe for a healthy pie crust, that's actually tasty - so have been using store-bought crusts until am able to find one. Pie crusts aren't the healthiest - but hopefully it's not the worst thing in the world, if it's being used to make a meal that's 90% vegetables, instead of 100% pie?

My new books aren't very interesting so far - may skip to the end, and read backwards, to see if he saved the good stuff for last?

May also look at a couple of gift suggestion lists, before doing my nightly bitcoin reading - will report back after SWAT lol

Holiday Gift ideas

Caught Oprah doing more marketing of her own products in her List of Favorite Things! Does she still own a portion of Weight Watchers?

This gift recommendation looks amazing though, and it's not super expensive - wonder if there's a place to add yogurt to the fruit, to make frozen yogurt? This would be lovely to have in the summertime ...

And then, found a neat site that as a holiday section on their website, with gift ideas. It seems like advent calendars with stuff besides chocolate in them have become kind of a thing the last couple of years? Here's one for sale with a 25 different flavours of tea behind each door ...

And there's a whole bunch with a variety of different lotions and cosmetics ...

Would be neat to see Keurig come out with one, with a 25 different k-cups to try each day - yum!

Okay, will get started on my bitcoin reading now

Nightly Bitcoin Readings

Managed to find a couple of things with my Google search ...

1. Fortune - http://fortune.com/2017/11/16/bitcoi...ase-custodian/

There was this article that says Coinbase is hoping more institutional investors may be willing to give bitcoin a try, after they set up their secure new storage service called 'Coinbase Custody' ...

2. Coindesk - https://www.coindesk.com/lightning-s...-nother-layer/

Guess most of my articles tend to be about bitcoin investing Although today, there was a technical update with details of how the efforts to develop a lightning network for bitcoin are coming along. Didn't read it all - but it seems like it might be nice to have, for future reference?

And then there were the nightly technical analysis predictions - so far it's still been seeming like when BTC rises, BCH falls. Hope that trend continues, if it is turning out to be kind of zero sum, and BTC continues to go up up!!

3. Bitcoin Magazine - https://bitcoinmagazine.com/articles...ic-resistance/

Going to turn in now - night everybody

lol!!

Would imagine the sweater has the potential to be quite a conversation starter at holiday parties, offering an interesting change from the usual chitchat about pets/kids, etc

If there was a lack of enthusiasm for the sweater in the bitcoin thread, perhaps it's because people in the thread may have already picked up this festive number? Was looking around to see what other holiday bitcoin products were on the market, and saw this shirt - the site says they sold 21 of these today already

Bitcoin's been great My number one go-to for wearing my heart on my sleeve would still probably be something more like this though
(So cute!)

Looks like it's been a quiet couple of days for bitcoin - maybe everybody's been taking some time off to relax and enjoy the weekend? Thanks for stopping by with the funny - hope you're having a nice weekend HUMBLE.!!

Bitcoin Valuation Discussion

Since my last update a week ago, my bitcoin profits passed the point of being enough for a Prius ...

And are now up to an Audi

Whenever the price of bitcoin spikes, there seem to be a fresh batch of articles written about how high the price may continue to rise? So that's the focus of the latest news today ...

Some of the coverage may not be the sorts that people may want to see? Will try to start off with an article that's quite lovely - it's a personal story written by a tech reporter for the BBC, whose $87 hodl of bitcoin is now worth $1713 Really enjoyed it because he seems to be having fun with his bitcoin, which has continued to rise in price in spite of all the naysayers warning of an impending crashes - yet he still leaves open the possibility of there someday being a time when it may seem best to sell, and does it in kind of a light-hearted way?
http://www.bbc.com/news/technology-42138370

1. Market Cap

Most of the articles seemed to try to figure out how how high the price of bitcoin may rise by comparing its market cap to other assets?

This is what's showing for bitcoin's current market cap on World Coin Index - is this the correct amount?

a) Bulls

Some say there's still quite a bit of room for growth
i. Coin Telegraph - https://cointelegraph.com/news/300-b...nt-be-a-bubble

Coin Telegraph points out that it would just take a tiny bit of peoples' stock or gold money to give bitcoin a market cap of $1tril ...

ii. Coin Bay - https://coinbay.in/bitcoin-could-eas...018-novogratz/

There's also a hedge fund manager who sees bitcoin reaching $40k by the end of next year, because of all the money available to invest and the limited supply ...

iii. Bloomberg Markets - https://www.bloomberg.com/gadfly/art...a-while-longer

Bloomberg sees a bubble bursting at some point, but not for a while ...

b) Bears

It looks like the naysayers only 'feel' like the price of bitcoin 'shouldn't' be as high as it is?
i. Guardian - https://www.theguardian.com/technolo...unds-plough-in

The Guardian notes that the market cap of bitcoin is now larger than Disney and McDonald's ...

ii. CNBC - notes the market cap of bitcoin is larger than MasterCard - https://www.cnbc.com/2017/11/27/for-...real-time.html

iii. ABC Australia - notes the market cap of bitcoin is larger than Walmart - http://www.abc.net.au/news/2017-11-2...d-high/9200106

iv. WSJ - https://www.wsj.com/articles/why-bit...ers-1507515361

WSJ says approval of an ETF would increase demand for bitcoin, but because of that, approval becomes more unlikely as prices rise because governments will want to limit the effects of a potential bubble burst ...

2. Number of Users
a) Bulls
i. Guardian - https://www.theguardian.com/technolo...unds-plough-in

The Guardian notes that only a fraction of the population currently has a crypto waller?

b) Bears
ii. CNBC - https://www.cnbc.com/2017/11/27/buy-...ble-fears.html

Although CNBC says the number of recreationals looking to get into bitcoin is on the rise, which is supposed to be a sign that a potential bubble may be maturing?

3. Utility

Guess this is up to each person to decide how to take these - could see some people wanting to dismiss them for being so fearful, but maybe some people may see something to be heeded in their words of caution?
b) Bears
i. Telegraph - http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technolog...ime-bit-pound/

Kind of hard to argue with the baguette/bugatti comment

ii. Economist - https://www.economist.com/blogs/butt...-fool-theory-0

The Economist warns that it may not be possible for everybody to realize their profits if there does wind up being a bubble burst, unless one of the first out the door ...

Here's some graphs of assets with underlying value that wound up bubbling up and down, from before:

Quote:

Along with a couple of new ones:

Some of my investments this year didn't go well - wound up investing a little too much in speculative stocks, where there were lots of professional traders in the pool ... then missed signals that the market had taken a turn when not paying close enough attention and was a day late and a dollar short, etc

Was hoping to keep in mind a potential exit point before buying any bitcoin - and then kind of forgot to keep track because bitcoin's been doing so well

SUMMARY: Maybe it wouldn't hurt to try and keep track of how many fresh new investors may be looking to start investing in bitcoin, to be sure that bitcoin's price will for sure continue to rise?

With that new futures exchange scheduled to go online in the second week of December, does it seem like the price of bitcoin could rise to US$12k by the end of the year?

Bitcoin Update

Big update - sold my bitcoin!

Was able to access my bitcoin gold yesterday, which gave me a little over 4 bitcoin total - and was able to sell the 4 bitcoin for CAD$13,100.00 a short while ago ... although it appears that the price since then went up as high as $13,750.00?

Have to be pleased with my sell price though - since anything over this amount is enough for a BMW!

vroom vroom!!

Was quite troubled by the change in tone surrounding bitcoin as it started to hit US$10k - was starting to see quotes and articles popping up from big bitcoin supporters, talking about it being in a bubble, talking about it maybe being time to sell and pay off debts rather than take on new debt to buy more bitcoin, talking about the price being ripe for a correction ...

Coindesk saying this price bubble is a distraction - https://www.coindesk.com/moon-time-grow-bitcoin/

Bloomberg saying it's okay to sell - https://www.bloomberg.com/news/artic...ts-with-10-000

NYTimes saying Reddit hodlers are bracing for a correction - https://www.nytimes.com/2017/11/27/t...ice-10000.html

And then something that seems to be completely absent is any expectation of a continued price rise in the near-term future? Although there is that opening of the CME futures trading that's set to start in 2 weeks ...
Quote:

The author of this piece notices that bitcoin's had double digit price drops almost every couple of months, for years ...

2. CNBC - https://www.cnbc.com/2017/11/13/afte...ata-shows.html

And then this article notices that it's not uncommon for prices to have bounced back by 25% within 2 weeks, and for prices to be up over 60% after 4 weeks:

There were some other things was seeing - like exchanges starting to make changes to lower their risk, due to increases in "value and volatility", given how high the price has gotten and how quickly it's risen?
From the NYT

And the Financial Times

Wonder where everybody else sees bitcoin prices going in the future? Guess with the change in tone, was starting to worry that the price may be somewhere around the blue dot of this graph now?

Something else that was worrying me are the stories of all the pros trading bitcoin (from the Wall St Journal - https://www.wsj.com/articles/bitcoin...ead-1511787600)

And there must be many more traders like this in Asia, because the price always seems to start to move in the middle of the night, my time?

Looks like could have made much more, if had bought into bitcoin much earlier ... and maybe shouldn't be selling right now? Have to be thrilled with making over $35k in under 2 months though - pretty sweet profits for a recreational who's been investing from home

GL GL to everybody else still in the market!! Wishing everybody all the best!!

So great to hear from you - it's been seeming much quieter around 2+2 since PokerStars close up shop Down Under. Hope Ignition hasn't been giving you too many headaches, or if it has then hopefully there's been lots of other enjoyable things to do now that it's summertime in your neck of the woods?

It's so lovely having an Aussie stop by the thread - took me a minute to figure out who Chrissy was! LOL!!

Have a 5 yr old Honda Civic that's still working like a charm - it may not be the most exciting or interesting car on the market, but it's been nice to have a car that's so reliable ... have never had any problems with it whatsoever. There's a couple of scratches here and there, from getting a little too close to parking receipt machines, or bumping up into those signs that only seem to become visible after the fact, etc ...

Guess the car pics were a way for me to try and remind myself that there was $ involved, and it's not just a game? With poker am alway forgetting there's real $ involved - but at my stakes, the most am ever able to lose at one time is $10

Have spent a little bit of money over the last couple of days - and none of it was on a car Picked up a little something related to Netflix actually - will have to do a post-bitcoin post after dinner.

Hope you've been getting lots of nice sunsets at your place marke. - must be lovely to have such spectacular views, right from the comfort of home

Still Looking at Bitcoin Stuff

Recap of My Bitcoin Experience

Last night, was wondering if maybe it was the amount invested in bitcoin that was starting to make me nervous - then today after looking through my posts, decided it was maybe the volatility that makes me squeamish?

It looks like for the almost 2 months was holding bitcoin, it's been doing so well was actually able to avoid having to experience any of bitcoin's notorious wild swings?
Bought - Oct 4
Sold - Oct 24 (after BTG fork)
Bought - Oct 31
Sold - Nov 8 to 10 (S2X fork cancelled)
Bought - Nov 13
Sold - Nov 28

Was maybe only ever really comfortable being in the market when it seemed like the hype/hope was much greater than the fear/skepticism - now it kind of feels like there's still a lot of hype and hope ... but maybe more fear and skepticism as well, now that bitcoin appears to have gone mainstream?

Bitcoin Goes Mainstream
Around Thanksgiving, started to see stuff like this popping up

My mom's even started emailing me bitcoin articles! lol! It seems like word's really kind of spread?

And have been seeing lots of other little bitcoin anecdotes ...

Some Bitcoin Ideological Stuff
Every once a while, have been seeing some interesting little insights into bitcoin's fundamental value ...

Wonder if more important than mass adoption is maybe mass acceptance of bitcoin, as a store of value and hedge against inflation - is that maybe why gold has become what it is ... because everybody the world over accepts it as those things?

It seems to me like bitcoin is even better than gold, because of it's mobility and ability to be used some of the time to make purchases. Maybe it may take some time for the rest of the world to embrace the new technology?

Will be interesting to see how the conversation evolves over time - right now it seems like a lot of the mainstream conversation still seems to be focused on whether it's too late?

Will be trying to keep an eye out for updates on the addition of the lightning network - maybe a global digital currency that can act as a store of value that can also process payments quickly and cheaply may help more people see bitcoin as the technology of the future? Am okay with missing out on any gains in the meantime, if it means not having to worry about huge price swings, like the kind there were today - wouldn't be surprised if bitcoin hits $12k when the futures exchange goes online in the middle of December ...

Will have to continue with my little purchase update tomorrow - it looks like have ran out of time for today, zzz ....

Bitcoin, Cont'd ...

Have been trying to keep my eye out for something to treat myself to with my bitcoin profits! My most favourite thing to spend time and money on seems to be stuff that promises some sort of positive return - poker, investing, etc. So it would have been lovely to have been able to pick up that map of Canada from the 1800's, until the price went too high for it to still be +EV ...

Hopefully others may come up for sale - in the meantime, something else that caught my eye was this piece:

Guess donations to non-profit really are investments in people?

Feel very fortunate to be a part of this poker/2+2 community that's always been so welcoming and supportive, and made investing in bitcoin seem not so scary before everybody else warmed to the idea

Had such a good time investing in bitcoin! So it seemed like a nice way to use some of my profits from my bitcoin might be to help others have that same chance to do things that make them happy, and help them be their best selves?

Found some stories of famous people who have benefitted from the services of non-profit organizations - their stories helped me better see how such organisations are able to make a real difference in peoples' lives ...

1. Justin Bieber

2. Alex Rodriguez

3. Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran's got an ongoing struggle with substance abuse - he just released a remix of Perfect featuring Beyonce ...

Really liked what Alex Rodriguez said about spreading hope - would be great if my bitcoin profits help people to feel more hopeful and supported. That would sure be a different kind of return than am getting from purchase of a Roku stick from Best Buy

Will have to keep my eye out for other +EV ways to spend my bitcoin profits
