Haven't had anyone ring the doorbell in about half an hour, and still have 14 peanut butter cups left - guess there'll only be 13 if i eat one ...

Oh! The door ....

The later it becomes, the older the kids seem to get - still have 10 pieces of candy, but will probably turn off the lights now. Otherwise will just wind up answering the door to give out candy to teenagers, some of who will probably be bigger than me

Had some other pieces of info to maybe add for the new hobby stuff, but was still sort of pondering it over - will maybe burrow under the covers for a little bit and ponder it there?

Won't fall asleep - will just ponder stuff with my eyes closed

Didn't realize at the time how life-changing it would be to try something new - guess because there's a certain amount of comfort that comes with sticking with what's familiar? Although maybe doing things outside our comfort zone can sometimes be important as well - because that's how we wind up having new experiences from which we are able to learn new things?

Video #2 - Embracing Change

Guess the person in the vid had noticed that some students who weren't at the top of the class sometimes wound up doing better out in the real world than the students who did well in school - because life can sometimes reward rule-breaking, while school tends to teach the opposite?

Haven't yet come up with any ideas for a new hobby just yet - guess am hoping to find something though that will teach me the sorts of things that there wasn't the chance to learn in school? So there'll hopefully be the chance to learn and grow, and see the world with fresh eyes, and all that good stuff?

Despite having such a positive experience with my first attempt at trying something new, just realized three years passed before was willing to try something new again?

Resource #3 - Follow Through

Have heard Tim Ferriss' name mentioned in some of Jaime Staples' vlogs - and then have seen his name come up quite a bit in @Inc articles. Guess he's published a couple of best-selling books that contain lots of life tips? Here's the intro to his book Tools of Titans:

The part where he says that he felt like the tips he's learned from his podcast guests have greatly improved his life had me curious to learn more about those tips. So went in search of a book summary online, because the Tools of Titans is supposed to be something like 707 pages long? And managed to find an amazing one that lists all his tips in a very organized fashion: Summary + PDF: Tools of Titans, by Tim Ferriss

Some Tips From Tim Ferriss' Tools of Titans
It looks like there are easily at least a couple of hundred tips from Tim Ferriss' podcast guests covered in the book? From stuff like goal-setting, to cultivating gratitude, to running a business, to exercise, etc. Here were a couple that kind of stood out for me ...

Brene Brown makes comfort sound like such a bad thing And then there was this little exercise ...

Just the other day was pondering what to do with a windfall $3k - kind of interesting to go in the other direction and ponder what might choose to do differently if only had $1 to my name? Or if maybe stuff like investing didn't come quite as easily as it has so far? Would imagine maybe having more of an eye for opportunities, and maybe being more willing to try different things?

And then there was this - it almost feels like Tim Ferriss is speaking to me

Am starting to get an idea of what to maybe try next ... maybe?

Bitcoin Update

So we hopped back on the train ...

The hype and momentum for bitcoin is just unreal - and today saw this bit of reassurance from one of the developers of the November hard fork on Forbes ...
What Will Happen At The Time Of The Bitcoin Hard Fork?: https://www.forbes.com/sites/laurash.../#2fb46087337d

It feels like the price could easily reach US$8k by the end of November? Would pour more money into bitcoin if there were any extra in my bank account. Guess will have to wait for the gains to compound - with the way things are going, it may not take too long

BONUS: Also, here's kind of a fun video Guess bitcoin's got the store of value quality of gold, with the potential to grow in value over time due to it's limited supply - and in addition, it's also got some ability to be used as a medium of exchange?

Trying something new for 30 days sounds like a fun experience with many different directions to go think I'll shoot for reading at least one half hour each day from a good old fashioned book and work through my growing bedside library.

Snap any photos of the trick or treaters? What were some of the best costumes, kind of miss living in an area where you can distribute candy to the kids brings back nice memories.

On NPR's marketplace tonight they were talking about pharmaceutical company and how they have a stranglehold on the Botox market via a patent or IP right to the toxins creation also how the substance has potential in other medical applications. It seems the longer people live the greater need folks will have for cosmetic defenses against signs of aging, could be a company to add Sam!

The tiny kids that come really early in the evening are so cute Right at the beginning of the night, there were two brothers who came to the door dressed as Batman and Robin - was wondering to myself it it would be too strange to take a pic of them, as was trying to open the candy bag. And then Robin started to get impatient for his Reece's peanut butter cup, while a couple of other kids were coming up the driveway - so had to focus my all my efforts on passing out the candy in a timely fashion Will have to maybe hope for another photo opportunity next year ...

The most common costume still seems to be the one my mom was really fond of - the good old 'let's see what we can come up with using stuff that's lying around the house, because we're not spending money on a costume you'll only wear once' outfit There was a boy who showed up with some of his mom's eyeliner around his mouth and a baseball hat, and he made a very convincing Toronto Blue Jay! Although there were a couple of girls who showed up wearing some of their mom's jewellery - it seemed like maybe they were supposed to be princesses, but guess there's always a chance they were trying to be a Real Housewife of New Jersey or what have you?

The book reading sounds like fun - and thanks for the stock tip Hank! That makes a lot of sense - will definitely have to look into that

Always great hearing from you!! Happy travels to you and Sven!!

Oh gosh, look at the rating for SWAT over at Rotten Tomatoes - guess it could be worse, haha ...

Read online that the pilot was directed by one of the directors of some of the Fast and Furious movies, so tonight's episode had a lots of car chases and crashes - that was pretty exciting.

And then guess the show is going to maybe happen against a backdrop of tension between police and the African-American community, where Shemar will try to be a bit of a bridge to help heal the divide?

Shemar used to be a model, so it was kind of funny the way he would get tips on crimes - to get a lead on a shooting, he went into a beauty shop and flirted with all the women there to get them to share tips from the street. And then he saved the day

Not sure if this show's going to make it - will have to see if am able to remember to watch it next week lol ...

Scrounging Around for Extra Cash to Buy More Bitcoin

Bitcoin Gold
You know what, was waiting for my Ledger Nano wallet to be delivered before moving bitcoin to a wallet - and wound up forgetting to move it to a wallet at all before the fork in October. We were supposed to do that to make sure we get credited with our bitcoin gold, and wound up forgetting to do that ... eek!

Kind of assumed that meant had missed out on getting my share of bitcoin gold - but it looks like my exchange Quadriga is crediting everybody who had our coin on their site with their bitcoin gold? Am so lucky to get it! Guess that'll be an little bitty of $ will be able to use to buy more bitcoin? Here's the current price of Bitcoin Gold ...

Only thing is that this exchange is slower than molasses - the software might have been released yesterday, but they've already warned that it could be weeks before will have access to the coins ...

Hopefully everybody else isn't wanting to convert their BTG to bitcoin as well, otherwise it may not be worth too much by the time it becomes available on my exchange?

Wire Transfer Cash
Also managed to find a couple of extra $ in my piggy bank Am hoping the price of bitcoin sort of hangs around the US$7k mark for a couple of days, and there's enough time to catch the price ... before it goes back up on the rise again!

So guess the plan for the next couple of weeks will be to try to keep looking out for daily updates on the next fork on Nov. 16, to try to make sure there's little danger of it causing the price to go the wrong way?

Have been looking at a bunch of Tim Ferriss stuff and some stock stuff as well, so hope to not get too scattered and wind up missing something

Will post updates here if am able to find anything noteworthy about the fork!

Some Tim Ferriss Stuff

Had read that book summary of Tim Ferriss' book Tools of Titans, and had really enjoyed the tips he's collected from the guests of his podcast. So after reading the book summary, went looking for more of his material - guess he's quite a marketer? Had the chance to see his marketing from the perspective of a customer when visiting his website, and through the eyes of a beginner entrepreneur from one of his youtube videos ...

Tim Ferriss' Website - https://tim.blog/2016/10/25/tools-of-titans/
Tim Ferriss did such a great job collecting all those bits of wisdom from all those accomplished people, was expecting to see more of that on his website.

However, the first thing to pop up when clicking on the link to his blog entry for Tools of Titans was a listing for a second book, along with a request for my email address. After closing that opening page, a new page popped up and the first thing my eyes were drawn to was the enormous semi-flashing lettering touting the popularity of his podcast. Next, my eyes notice the huge subscribe buttons for his podcast off to the side. There's also a blog heading but no blog text, so am scrolling down the page now ... and find my eyes again darting to large lettering on the side saying, 'Popular', 'Popular' with tons of links to more of his stuff ...

His site felt a little heavy on the marketing - but maybe it's because had already read the book summary before visiting the site, not sure?

A Tim Ferriss Video
The next thing of Tim Ferriss' was able to find was this youtube vid of him trying to help a very timid yoga instructor with confidence issues to try to grow her business - so there was a lot of heavy marketing ... and the results he was able to achieve were incredible!

He brought a friend along who did an imprompu market research session with some current customers, and then they brainstormed ways to make her yoga different from everybody else's. Then after that, instead of teaching specific marketing tactics, Tim had the yoga instructor do exercises that helped to get her to take more risks, expect more of herself, and believe more in her product - and that led her to charging on the higher end of her prices and she was able to triple the size of her classes.

NEW IDEA: The thing that really stood out to me about the yoga instructor's outreach efforts was that people wound up having a really great time at her class. Guess asking for something from people tends to oftentimes feel like asking for a favour - but maybe when a business has a really great product to offer, people may ultimately wind up happy that they were given the chance to hear about something fun?

Had something else to add, but it looks like that will have to wait for another day - look at the time!

So no one's signed on so far?

Am starting to wonder if maybe it might be kind of a neat opportunity though? The company doesn't have a lot of competition, so they've never analyzed customer data or anything like that, and there's no vip program ... there's not even any customer outreach or anything like that. And the price hasn't been changed in something like 10 years, even though the Euro's fluctuated quite a bit.

On the other hand, this makes me hesitate -

The family business just operates on weekdays during office hours - but this weekend am going to be doing a little 'exploratory training', to learn more and see how things might be like? So there won't be too many interesting pictures this weekend - hopefully someone else will be up to something fun and exciting, and will have some interesting pics to share to entertain us all?

Hope everybody has a nice weekend!

Gosh, will really have to get going with the reading tonight Didn't put a super huge amount into bitcoin - but it's been growing so fast, it's getting to be ... my $10k invested a month ago is already worth this much

The amount almost doesn't even seem real - will have to make sure to stay on top of all the research, so will at least have tried my best to take good care of my 'not so little anymore, and getting larger by the day' nest egg ...

Will get going with the reading tonight

Well the extra hour of sleep last night was just lovely! But gosh - only 4:30pm and it's pitch dark out already

Guess having it get dark so early will give me the chance to enjoy the rest of the One Drop tourney, and do a nice clean up around the house that am usually too tired to do during the week

Every week, have a coupon for a free goodie delivered to my inbox for using the Tim Horton's Double Double Visa Card - and this month's weekly treat is a large soup with half bun, yum! It's got a retail value of $4.63 - is this the best credit card in the world, or what? Will have to clear out my icloud storage so will be able to take my own pictures again But managed to find a pic of Tim Horton's soup on the internet, and my soup more or less looks like this ...

Tim Horton's seems to be the place to be on a late Sunday afternoon - the place was *packed* with people, with a line practically out the door! Just got my soup and bun to go, and am going to have it with a side salad for dinner, so that'll be nice to have ...

Will get going on the homework after dinner

Was just getting started with my bitcoin reading, when this article about the fork popped up in a push notification: https://news.bitcoin.com/a-guide-to-...y-they-happen/. It had some helpful info about how lots of bitcoin miners want the fork, and they're the ones who can make it happen - but that the market will decide which side of the fork they want to keep, the old one or the new one?

There wasn't anything in the article about what might happen to the price of bitcoin right after the fork though - and guess lots of us must be wondering about that, because someone in the comments section down below made a post asking the author about that. So then, went and added a 'ya, good question!' type of post, so he knows that there's at least two of us who are wondering the same thing Hopefully the author will see our questions, and be able to help?

Guess will keep reading some of the other articles in the meantime ...

Upcoming Bitcoin Segwit2x Hard Fork Stuff

Was able to find three sites that tried to look at the possible directions the price of bitcoin could take right after the fork ...

1. Fortune Magazine - http://fortune.com/2017/11/03/bitcoin-segwit2x/
They've been checking the price of bitcoin futures, and the ones they were looking at a couple of days ago showed that people were expecting the price of bitcoin to be higher after the fork ... although they warn that the futures may not be a very accurate predictor of where things might eventually wind up?

Found a different site that seemed (?) to have bitcoin futures available - and people there seem to be predicting that the price may be a bit lower in a month? Maybe bitcoin futures may be something to watch, especially as it gets closer to the fork, to see how people feel the fork may impact the price of bitcoin?
https://cryptowat.ch/bitmex/btcusd-perpetual-futures/1m

Guess Fortune feels like there's a chance the price could go up - although they also listed reasons the price could go down as well?

2. Brave New Coin - https://bravenewcoin.com/news/bitcoi...s-uncertainty/
The author/blogger's outcome prediction was based on his research into the fork, while his price estimates are based on his technical analysis of graphs - that's where they try to see patterns in the price graph, and make predictions based on those?

Haven't found those price graph predictions to be super reliable over the long-term - but sometimes they seem to be quite accurate in picking up slight price movements over the next day or two? Maybe something else to watch in addition to the futures graphs, as the fork gets nearer?

Guess this blogger feels like even if the price goes down in the short-term, the price is likely to go back up in the long-run. Maybe it might not take very long either - this person points out that every time there's a fork, it shows that people like the original the most, and so the price seems to wind up going up (https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/bitg...bust-segwit2x/)?

3. Hacked - https://hacked.com/continue-reading/
This article was really good, but now it's behind a paywall - wish had taken more screencaps earlier while there was a chance to Managed to catch this one, which was the most detailed of the three articles in describing what might happen to bitcoin prices right after the fork ...

Guess they feel like with the chance of there being uncertainty, and with bitcoin possibly due for a market correction, they feel people may want to temporarily shift to other coins? They say that's why Bitcoin Cash is up over 100% in the past *two weeks*?

So they plan on selling their bitcoin and are going to move it into other coins, because they feel others may do the same, and so that's their best chance to profit.

SUMMARY: Some interesting ideas people have come up with - it sounds like even if the price does go down in the short-term, it'll likely rise again with there being so much interest in bitcoin right now? And maybe there's even some opportunity with Bitcoin Cash right now too (not sure)?

Guess no one really knows for sure what the future holds - guess we'll all have to wait and see ... GL us!!
