Why are you so convinced she’s after a green card? Maybe she just wanted to have some fun in Vegas. She seems to have a good job and she lives in Taiwan not Myanmar.

Helen's been very explicit about what she wants. She wants to marry an American and she wants to become an American.

Taiwan is a stable democracy with a healthy economy, but they've had the Sword of Damocles hanging over them for the last 70 years with China, who regards them as a renegade province of China that needs to be brought back into the fold.

The only thing that has stopped the People's Army tanks from rolling into Taipei has been the USA's commitment to keeping Taiwan free. If we ever have an administration that flakes on that for even a minute, there's going to be trouble. And given that Taiwan is one of the USA's top 10 weapons customers, they're not going down without a fight, but they would go down nonetheless, and the death and destruction level would be very high.

So Helen wants to get the hell off the island before things start going badly.

Ah you have any pics of Helen? I’m sure there’s some desperate 2+2er looking to help out with a green card.

Thank you, Gentlemen. No pics, unfortunately.

I do have one picture of me and Gambelina. She asked me never to post it, but she's not here now, so I'll just post it once and probably delete it from Imgur later.

Spoiler:

Speaking of whom, not much more than two weeks ago, Gambelina and I were joshing each other about how neither of us would never ever, under any circumstances, consent to sit behind the other one to watch them play poker.

Sitting behind your friend or significant other to watch them play is known as sitting ***** (i.e. a female dog).

Typically you see it done by a hot girlfriend, and there's no way that she can be happy because almost without exception her stylish boyfriend is ignoring the hell out of her to concentrate on the game.

With my live experience so far, I can attest that out of all those many ignoring boyfriends I've seen at the tables, exactly zero of them have been any good at poker. It's a sad situation, and one that Gambelina and I had a lot of fun making light of, turning it into a running gag. Whenever one of us was off the table, the other one who was sitting would always smarmily invite them to have a seat behind.

Fast forward to today when I find out that Helen's flight out is a red-eye, and that she wants to watch me play poker for a while before she heads out. So today I had my first person sitting ***** with me, not long after laughing it up about how miserable of a spot that is.

I did my best be nice and talk to Helen while I played.

I'm not familiar with their posts. Do they have gfs or bfs who sit with them? I'm trying to think of a benefit for the ***** seat other than company (if he or she doesn't ignore you) and free drinks if you're both drunks.

I did see a coach sit down one time and give running instruction to his student sitting behind, and that was annoying AF and generally bad for the game, as everyone at the table could hear them.

DSB has an all-time great 5 star TR in LVL in which he and his girl, TO, live it up a few summers back.

I can’t recall their exact story as it’s been a few years since they’ve updated but I think that they happily moved to Northern California and generally crush life

She would sit behind Him and was a very good sport

One of my old Nit-tastic Tales has been accepted for publication.

Every year the news aggregate website Fark.com publishes an anthology of stories from its posters. This year's version will be called Oh No, Not Again! The 2019 Fark Fiction Anthology. I was really drunk one night a few months back and I sent them Part VI, the one where I go to trial for an open container, even though the tales are all true accounts and not works of fiction. I told the editors that it was based on a true story; close enough as far as I was concerned that night.

Fark's a big website, and they don't publish every story they receive. A group of editors read the stories and choose which ones go in. I'm not getting any money for it, but I like the idea of being in print.

I changed the title of the story, as Part VI: The Trial was a bit obscure when seen out of context. The new title will be Open Container, and I'll be using my Fark handle Garza and the Supermutants as a pen name. Hopefully it'll be out some time this year, as it has 2019 in its title.

SJ big congrats on getting one of your Nitt-tactic tales published very well deserved. Would you happen to have any direct links to the Fark publishing that includes your story? I wouldn’t mind a collection of stories in the same vein as your awesome writing.

SJ,

I've only recently come across House of Blogs and your thread. Enjoying this, you have a great talent for writing.

Followed the link in your post about fark.com to that thread, which exposed a bunch of other threads I'll need to read through.

So first, congratulations on where you are vs where you were. Thank you for being willing to share. What a story, and so well written.

Second, thank you for helping me get through boring work days when I'm unmotivated with all these new threads to peruse.

Thanks fidstar and Da-Nit! I'll post any updates and links for the anthology here as soon as I hear of them.

Thanks golddog! I'm glad to be of service during the boring times.

For good reads, I would suggest some of the Best of BBV threads.

My preference is for the later ones down towards the bottom of the thread. Fidstar has a good travelling-the-world thread, Natamus is entertaining with tales of Hollywood. I'm a Raven Jet Byrne fan because he's a crusher and genuinely weird AF in a very creative way. And finally the Lost Everything/Human Guinea Pig and Chuck Bass's Somewhat Different Poker stories should be required reading.

A few days ago I found that I was officially too fat to put my socks on the normal way while sitting down: that would be to just reach straight down and put them on; instead I had to lift each foot onto its opposite knee and put the socks on that way. This is frustrating, as I'm not someone who gets zero exercise. Every day I walk more than a mile on average, and when I'm mid-Strip I try to jog up and down the stairs on the pedestrian bridges instead of using the escalators, but it does nothing for me. My paunch just keeps growing.

So I started an exercise program. In the past my problems with exercise routines have come not from a lack of enthusiasm so much as from a certain irrational exuberance kicking in after a few weeks. I own a full set of dumbbells, so after a few weeks of success I inevitably start adding new exercises and heavier weights and more reps and more sets until I push myself too far and give up entirely.

I would like this go around to be different. I'm going to keep it short and simple: push-ups, bicycle crunches (in lieu of sit-ups), hammer curls, overhead triceps curls, and one arm dumbbell rows. One set of each. That's it. No set goals for weight or rep increases; only when a set becomes incredibly easy will I consider an increase. Done within 15 minutes, once a day, no days off. I'm hoping it will be something that's going to last vs something that's intense but won't last.

Just discovered your blog a couple of days ago, it’s mesmerizing. You’re a very good writer. I’m only caught up to May, but thought I’d take a minute to make a game selection suggestion. Spend some time researching conventions, like here... https://www.vegasmeansbusiness.com/p...tion-calendar/

Every few years my industry has its’ annual convention at the MGM. Their poker room may suck most of the year, but when i’ve been there i’ll recognize half the faces at the tables from convention sessions. When you see a big convention at a particular property, consider visiting and checking out the action.

Hope you run good at the tables and life.

Thanks gt_ie! I bookmarked that site and I will be checking it fairly often.

I moved over to Planet Hollywood this week. They have a freeroll that I'd like to try, and they also have a few excellent big hand promos. At a certain time of day they'll pay $5000 for a royal flush and give the room a $100 share as well. At another time of day they'll pay $2000 for a straight flush. They also have a buffet comp for 4 hours of play in the morning, if you can get there early enough.

I had a bit of a moral quandary going on at the Flamingo, where the floor was signing me up as a Caesar's Diamond card holder--which I'm not--which allows you to skip past every non-Diamond person on the waiting list, which is a great perk that I didn't earn. So getting away from there for a while might solve that.

In any case, I'd like to put together a few winning sessions for a change, but in the short term that's mostly up to the poker gods, may they smile upon my request.

Thanks brother! Sound advice from someone who's been through the **** is always Good Content.

The latest of my (increasingly tiresome) drinking regulation schemes is to only allow drinking on days when I work. No drinking on my days off. Really it's more of an incentive to get me to stop taking excessive days off, which has been hurting my bottom line more than any other thing, but it's something.
