Great work, Morph! I especially like the 'OK' caption.

Well, I done goofed. I had a real nice stack going at Harrahs; almost a ten-pin, when on the last orbit I opened JTs in EP and got several calls.

The board ran out Q95K3 rainbow with me betting big the whole way. The remaining villain in the hand shoved over me on the river and we had a near $800+ pot.

He had the JT as well, but I turned over T9. I had misread my hand and lost almost $400.

Flamingo and Harrahs: 8 hours:

I started last night at Bally's in a great spot, to the direct left of a major Live One, who was sitting on a $1400 stack picked up--according to the guys at the table--from having rivered half a dozen players.

Unfortunately a reg sitting to the LO's right decided to offer up his unsolicited opinion to him that I was a tough player and hard to beat.

Spoiler:

I recognized the reg, but I don't remember playing against him. I'm not someone who remembers every hand I've played vs everyone--far from it.

So, rather than getting paid in several value spots vs the LO, I had to settle for getting folds from him after c-bets on two missed flops and one missed turn, for three small pots.

Aside from c-betting and barreling lighter, I couldn't come up with many other ways to adjust to being saddled with this unexpected image; many LOs are unpredictable, so slow playing top-pair type value hands could have backfired.

At some point during this minor debacle, a man who resembled poker pro/coach Jonathan Little stopped by to talk to one of the guys at my table. After he left I asked the guy and he confirmed that it was Jonathan Little. He was playing $1/$2 at the next table with some of his website employees/proteges. The guy at my table was his website administrator, and he was waiting to transfer over to Jonathan's table.

Being someone who likes EV, I had no interest in moving over to their table, but I did stop over to say hello to Jonathan and to thank him for all the videos and articles that have helped me to learn this game. He's in my top 5 poker teachers list for the cash game, along with Ed Miller, James "Splitsuit" Sweeney, Peter "Carroters" Clarke and Bart Hanson. He was very nice, and it was a pleasure to meet him.

As far as results went: I lost the Flamingo freeroll, then I returned to the cash games and took an ass whooping, all night long, at every venue, from start to finish. It happens to the best of us, and I am by no means the best of us.

Flamingo, Bally's, and Harrah's (Flamingo 'Freeroll' -$5): 8 hours:
(-$532)

I know this feel. And you will recover. Also that reg can shut the **** up unless you're frequently an asshat at the table.

Hey SJ,

I think I was playing in Bally's when you were there (I was there from 7pmish to midnightish Friday).

I also think I may have been at the table with Jonathan Little. Not really sure, as I had no idea what he looked like until I just googled him, but it may have been him. Was he at the table at the far end of the room and turned up around midnight? He was also talking about a guy waiting to join their table.

Thanks AF! I always make an effort to be kind, courteous and respectful whenever I'm repeatedly trying to take everyone's stacks.

Yes, I was there from 10:30PM on. Jonathan Little was in the 3 seat, with a young Asian kid to his right who was his employee/protege. I also heard him critiquing hands from someone he called 'Wizard.' I was at the next table over towards the bar/casino floor in seat 9, on the dealer's right.

I know that you don't do meetups, so that's cool. How did you do that night? Yours was a tough table, at least in theory.

It seemed as if I was card dead for most of last night; however, whenever I did involve myself in a hand, I won almost every time. That's the sort of trade off I'd be happy to make any time. The cash game is a marathon, not a sprint.

Harrahs and Flamingo: 8 hours:
+$464

It was him I was playing with. I was in seat 2. Within 2 hands I knew I had to leave. He was not the guy I wanted to have on my immediate left.

Good to know my immediate poker reads are still good. Sometimes you can just feel that someone knows what they are doing just from their mannerisms.

I only played 3 more hands after that before the blind came. All 3 folds.

The Asian guy must have taken my seat immediately afterwards. They (Jonathon and "The Wizard") were talking about someone else at another table that they wanted to play with. Must have been him.

Before that the night was pretty good. Up $93 (plus buffet voucher and 6 coronas) in about 5 hours. The table was pretty tame before they got there, which is exactly what I wanted after 2 years of not playing. Was able to ease myself back into it. I only had one toughish decision all night.

I said it in BBV, but it was sad to see that out of the 20 players that cycled through my table, only 2 of them had an alcoholic drink. It was Friday night ffs! And it wasn't like my table was full of grinders. There were a bunch of people that were tourists. Poker is serious business!

How's the Bally's buffet? Being a vegan tends to make buffets suck though.

I heard that 3 hours of play (non-peak times) at Planet Hollywood gets you a buffet there.

You'll go to the Paris buffet with your voucher. The salad bar is lame, so not great for a vegan. I like the Planet Hollywood buffet a little more. They have hummus and tabbouleh, and there is usually no line. You just have to get up early enough to make the deadline, and you'll often have only one table going at PH at that time, so the game is hit or miss.

I will be taking my first shot at $2/$5 during the NFL playoffs. Seems an appropriate time for it. I would like to try the Bellagio $2/$5.

If anyone has an opinion on any aspect of this, let's hear it.

Up to date. I can't believe Mr Fid and Mr Justice almost played on the same table. Now that would have been poetic justice. Sadly it was not to be.

Warning: do not open spoiler unless you're immune to extreme nittiness!

Not sure how, but I've talked John Kerr, the Las Vegas Review Journal's op/ed chief, into looking at this thread. 95% nothing will come from it, but we'll see.

I should not have name checked him in the thread, in a post that can't be deleted after 30 minutes. Sorry John.

Drinking was involved on my end, but I'll always take responsibility for my behavior, regardless of the state I'm in.

Also, I would have made a lame Fosters joke when you ordered a Corona.

I probably won't drink during any $2/$5 session, if that's a step in the right direction.

I managed to grind out a 40 hour week Wed-Sun, so I had that going for me, which is nice. I didn't apply any special motivational trick, I just showed up and worked, and I went home after 8 hours, just like everyone else who has a 9-5 job.

Sunday: Harrah's and Flamingo: 8 hours:
(-$132)
