Messed up on an estimate where I had the wrong material figured in. We won the job. Some post bid changes came through, and then I caught the error.
Going to see if we can get the customer to work with us, so we don't lose a few thousand dollars.
Utterly swamped at work, and on top of that I have to leave early. I have like 6 projects all due "early next week."
Estimating in flooring isn't the same as an estimate you get from a mechanic.
We would have ordered the wrong material for the wrong area. And then had to wait weeks for the right stuff to arrive. Liquidated damages could have sucked
Does customer have a clue? Can you sell the change from wrong to right material like improvment on a project? Do you have long term good relationship with this customer? I mean is he interested to work with you also in the future? Would this several k make the project go in the red zone?
We're a contractor/distributor. We were awarded a job for X dollars. Our client is a general contractor accidentally placed material A in a area that gets material B.
What that means is material costs one amount, the sundries cost an amount, and the labor costs another.
So, to fix this mistake, we order material B which is more expensive and costs more to install.
Even after returning the product, we lose monies. Commercial general contractors generally do not care if you make a mistake, and you eat it. Sometimes, that'll help out, sometimes not. I'm sure that they would try to help, but their client(owner of building) may not care to pay more either, since he's already agreed to pay a certain amount.
We got lucky though, they released a big change which nullified my mistake, and what not
Sounds like you caught a bit of a break.
And have already been in conversations with your leadership regarding the exposure and gravity.
Your were not terminated, I am guessing.
Lighten up, Francis.
**** Happens, even if you're really good at what you do.
Get your head in the game, don't let it happen again, and for globs sake, get a haircut you filthy hippie.
Catching up on Breaking Bad. Started season 3. Couldn't stand Skyler from the beginning. Hate her even more now. I hope she dies, but I know she's in every episode of the series. So I have little hope that she does.
She dies next episode and every episode after that they just flashback to shots of her being brutally killed so she gets credited for being in those eps.
