Man, a paved driveway; that is very upscale for Montana. I would never have guess it. Of course, paved roads can still have potholes, in fact very nasty ones.

its worth it the snow melts when the sun comes out. a gravel driveway has snow and ice all winter.
no potholes but it does get cracks in it like a different kind of hole.

Ray,
i don't know exactly where Zeno is on the coast (just the way he likes it), but the profile i've been creating for him with mental post-it-notes over the years makes me think he's somewhere near the mouth of the Rogue. based on name and personality alone i'd guess somewhere near Pistol River, but i digress.
Coos and Curry counties are interesting winter locations in oregon and this is one thing i think Zeno may actually have done right. if oregon has a winter banana belt, and i'm reasonably correct about his location, he's living in it. i've visited Coos County the first or second week of January for over a dozen years, admittedly a small sample size, but having temps in the high 50s to low 60s without much rain during that time of year is a blessing when coming from portland, eugene, or central oregon.
of course, if you visit or live there you have Zeno types as your neighbors, so that probably brings the desirability factor down a notch or two.

yea he is in the best spot in oregon for the winter. solely by accident . he never could have figured it out on his own. other than for the inbreeds, nut cases, and the rest on the dole, he is in a good spot.
i prefer the north coast where the people are civilized but gets more rain and cooler. but doesnt burn up in the summertime.

There are also lots of meth heads, survivalists, escapees from California, and rich people (from everywhere) with their vacation/second homes, in this area.

well one of the poker rooms got an infected dealer and the room shut down for the time being. no one was required to wear masks and bound to happen although surprised not sooner.
i have been wearing a restrictive n95 mask out and it is no big deal at all.
11-13-2020 , 11:38 PM
I have allergies and n95s are the only things that really help when I'm outside, so I had a good stock of them before the plague arrived. What's interesting is there are people who see my wearing them as a political statement rather than a survival strategy. It just shows how crazy people have become.
11-14-2020 , 12:01 AM
got allergies really bad as well. one shot of kenalog, 8 bucks each year takes care of 90 percent of it no s--t.
everyone i turned on to it say ive saved their life. too cheap docs dont want to give it.

the poker rooms where the players are required to wear masks have not had big out breaks of the virus. that is the reports i have been hearing. at least players havent been getting very sick. i do suppose some have caught it and had mild symptoms.

Silly you Phat; people have always been crazy. A simple reading of the last 5,000 years of human history proves that in spades. Or you could just go to The Oracle at Delphi and have the women tell you in person.

i dont think they can comprehend or understand easily the different possibilities and weigh them out. i think most people nowadays get fed this constant barrage of info and just believe what they hear from the source they tend to listen to.

Well, it is entirely your fault. What could you possibly expect when you decide to go outside wearing a uniform that clearly has political symbols emblazoned on it?

Also people tend to find sources of information to support their existing position. Confirmation bias is strong, and hard to realize that you're doing it.
12-09-2020 , 01:03 PM
we all look for confirmation to our beliefs. that is why all statements that are not obvious facts need to be questioned if they are important.

It seems like almost settled science that viral load is highly correlated with how sick you get. So IMO if you want to play poker it's a pretty clear choice to wear a high quality mask like an N95 that blocks most particles.
12-09-2020 , 02:19 PM
i just they would be more clear on the viral load. whether its just one big dose that gets you or it accumulates a little at a time like you might get playing poker next to an infected person with you or both wearing masks.

and to me the only mask is an n95 or higher mask. the others are just fooling themselves as it was easier to get those pretty ones early on. now n95 or at least the china kn95 are available if you look around.

Someone that worked at the same building as I but different studio came down with it. I was never in direct contact with them. This was in the email notification I received:

Quote:
It’s important to remember that health officials define close contact (directly exposed) for COVID-19 as being within 6 feet of a person for a cumulative total of 15 minutes over a 24-hour period (or more), or having contact with bodily fluids/secretions (for example, if you shared eating utensils or the person sneezed on you), with a known or suspected COVID-19 positive individual.

only thing the govt. guide lines are way too loose. they dont want to be too restrictive or cause a turmoil.
the researchers have found a cough, sneeze or loud talker can broadcast his droplets out to 27 feet or so. of course they begin to fall as they leave your face so that is the extreme distances. 6 feet is a joke. maybe 6 feet outside with the wind at your back.
but there really is only so much we can do as individuals to be safe. and each has to decide for themselves what they are willing to do.

Just to set the record straight, the picture on my t-shirt does not promote the Bull Moose Party. It merely depicts Bullwinkle in a top had preparing to perform a magic trick.

mack did you research kenalog.?
12-09-2020 , 10:12 PM
Bullwinkle the Moose is my Hero. I used to have a Bullwinkle T-Shirt that I wore all the time I was teaching in Grad School. I received nothing but respect from my students.

Funny you should mention that. I go to get one on Friday morning.
12-09-2020 , 11:50 PM
if its your first. standard is to get it in the thigh. takes about 5 days till you notice a big improvement. only one person said she found it didnt last for long. i told her to try again. it isnt a popular item so it may have been stale in the doctors office. or they gave her too small a dose. or he may have had a generic that wasnt good.
20mg is the dose that works for me . i think they gve me 40mg in the beginning at other clinics. it all worked. less is better if it does the trick.but i dont know if it comes in a different potency.
the clinic i go to charges me 8 dollars total. thats why doctors dont like to offer it.

Yeah, I phoned my clinic and the lady told me there were multiple regimens--I could try a big one, but there was also a system where they would teach me to shoot up once a week. I opted for the big one. We'll see how it goes. I had a girlfriend who would get them, and they worked for her, but at the time all my allergies had disappeared, or were in remission, so I never tried it.

I got takeout in Las Vegas and the woman who was working the front sounded exactly like Natasha Fatale. This enhanced the experience greatly.
