last flight i took was delayed so my connection was going to be real close. myself and a few others in the back of the plane asked if they could announce that at the stop to not stand up right away so we could get up front to get out and make our connection.

as soon as the plane stopped everyone stood up in the aisle and blocked our way up front. no one could go anywhere anyway , and even with asking they didnt move an inch. this was one of the few times i wished ill for all of them in life.
of course i missed it and had to wait a few extra hours and luckily got out.

back from another florida trip. i do like the weather there in the winter for sure.
poker is great as well. fishing for salt water things is fun and surprising.

The Keys? Or did you just flounder about the coast somewhere. Saltwater fly-fishing?

Glad you had a good time and weather.

If he was floundering, he would do better on the bay side. (Always willing to help out a couple of city slickers.)

aint no city slicker. but on the east coast floundering around in the sun and surf fishing.
no fly fishing this time but got that figured out. no golf either. happy to get some good eats out as well. great food you cant get out west other than a few cities where the slickers hide

I am headed down to the sunshine state in a few weeks. Looking forward to warmer weather. But not looking forward to the family insanity. Luckily they are not dragging me around the parks so hopefully I can lay low and do some quality pool lounging and drinking.

its just starting to get hot and muggy. but still very nice for awhile yet.
if you are on the east coast the black tail sharks are migrating. buy a cheap 25 dollar surf rod and reel or bring one if driving down. a big hunk of fish for bait or something shiny.
you should catch some 4 footers or so.
plus those on the beach catch a bucket full of fish every day. daybreak is best.
i had two big fish that stripped off most of my line and bent the hook. never saw them.

Will be stuck near Mickey's house most of the week in a house with 15 other people. Definition of the introvert's worst nightmare, lol. I have a friend down in Port Charlotte with a boat who likes to fish. I am trying to figure out how I can get away with running down there.
03-14-2019 , 11:03 PM
just do it, they will be mad for a day but get over it. you will remember the day forever.

on the gulf you have to go out like 30 miles to get into 90 feet of water.
but they catch alot of fish in close as well. doing that would be epic.
plus its nice over there and orlando sucks.

biggerboat on the lounge forum lives in st. petersburg on tampa bay if you want to find out whats fishing in the area.

too bad had to happen to you in one of our worst winters ever.

spring is here in montana yet it still is cold except for part of the day.

poker is good for some reason i cant figure out yet. the omaha game is good and plenty of money to win in a short time.
04-04-2019 , 02:27 AM
the players that play too tight and passive are getting run over. trying to keep your swings down just does not work in omaha if you want to win big enough to matter.
they let too many players contest with them and get drawn out on and also pay off surprise hands from unreadable impulsive bettors.
04-05-2019 , 02:50 AM
the players that are very tight you must restrain yourself from calling their raises even right from the get go. they have too good of a hand most times that even if you do hit a great hand to get any big action they are going to be drawing with nearly as good a hand as you have.
and since they start so good its hard to bluff them out.

the games around here have to break at about 1:30 am. so of couse for the last 45 minutes or so they go crazy. it has always been that way. if you can stay up late and last that long you are in for a ride.
04-15-2019 , 02:58 AM
one thing in the smaller games is that many of the players will lose much more on a hand than they should, so that means most players are not betting enough when they think their opponent has something he likes and they can beat it.

spring is barely coming to montana. a few buds are on the trees and thats it. my grass is getting a little green to it.

but the turkeys have come back around the place all day long and follow me around the yard. they must like me for some reason. the deer are in good shape for such a bad late winter with not much winter kill. havent found any boday parts that the coyotes didnt get to earlier.

one of those days with great cards but no dice. i got lucky and only lost a little. but flopped 8 sets and won 4 with tiny pots and zero action. and lost 4 big pots to last card completed hands. so it goes. no big deal.

crap we had a snow storm tonight. still almost winter here. next week back in the 60's. and with good poker games going not so bad for the bad weather. golf courses are opening and players are out there just not today.
my bad eagles are hugging down in the nest out the window a ways and will bring one or two more into the world this spring.

got stuck last night but persevered and played hard and came back to be a decent winner.
luckily the game got better latter at night which is usually true and i got some good breaks i guess.

went to missoula this weekend and fish the bitterroot river. one of my favorites. fishing not so good but nice day. stayed at the new marriot and what a nice hotel for sure. blows away anything else near there.

always eat a dinner at the dinosaur cafe, cajun food in a dive bar with all kinds of creatures walking and sitting down there.

had an incredible day at omaha. hit every hand all night long and even won over and over on one pair hands. probably the best and luckiest day ive had in cards hitting hands and them holding up.
it will all be down from there though never happen again i suppose.

Thanks for the tip on the Dinasaur Cafe. I've never been in it but I love cajun food. Looks like it is right next to Charlie B's. I'll be in Missoula in a couple of weeks and will check it out.

Ray, I was wondering something. The Oxford on Higgins and Pine is just a block from the Dinasaur Cafe? The old poker room in back has been closed for years.

The poker game is in the front of the Oxford now. But the old poker room has been preserved and is like a museum. There are dozens of portraits on the walls of the poker players that played there decades ago.

Did you ever play that room?
05-12-2019 , 05:49 PM
yes but only once or twice as it was a dump with smaller games and too smokey. missoula rarely had big games as they followed the pot limit laws precisely.

the dinosaur is in the back of charlie b's. it is part of it.

the stockmans on the weekend is the best game in town. they have 2 days a week one is sat. or sun that are best. can go all night and gets up there. if the right guys like the washingtons are in town is a go.

there is a week day game but i dont know what day.

our games up here have been jam up. w,t,f,s,s. sunday in w.f.
w,f, is omaha and many days almost all the pots hit the limit.

warm weather is here. so in many places the poker games will be better later in the evening as many will be outside during the day. especially on weekends.
something to consider when deciding when to come to work.
