I really enjoy Hummingbirds. We finally saw one at the house a couple of years ago and got all excited thinking maybe they would be moving in. Haven't seen one since.

put up a feeder and have some flowers they like and sooner or later you will have more than you can believe.

tight play and some luck got me into 6 or less spot twice in the last week.
always a few key hands that make you look smart when you hit them and look bad when you go out on them.

the real trick in tournaments where they dont play so well is to pick spots where you play against known players to you that you can outplay. you build lots of chips with a little luck.

I love hummingbirds. We have no feeders, but tons of perennials that bloom all year with red and pink flowers. I see between 5 and 20 a day.

I thought they might disappear when all the empty fields behind us were turned into houses, but if anything, we have more of them. There's one kind that comes out at sunset that is a third of the size of a normal hummingbird. They are all dun colored except that they look like they have black eyeliner. At first I thought they were moths until one hovered about 3 feet from me and I got a clear look at it.

get a big feeder. they are all sorts of fun watching them in front of your window with all the antics. just plain sugar water. some days after a new hatch of babies get big enough i will have ten to twenty flying back and forth around the window.
there are many different kinds. and easy to identify them from internet pics.

this is probably your small one. we have these too as the migrate around

Ray, first time commenting here but I love the thread.

On a similar note to this, a good friend gave me the advice a while back that if you're at a soft MTT table that has only a couple good players, make sure not to get tricky or build unnecessary big pots against the good players.

Good luck in all your tournaments the rest of the summer!

thats always good advice. against good players you want to have them locked up in big pots. the best thing is if you can make them mis interpet your play so they may call too light.

last few tournaments ive been in ive gotten very close to the money and got taken out with way the best hand. in a way it kind of depressing as you work hard for hours to get in the good spot to maybe win a big one and be chip leader or close to it, and you get the perfect situation and get outdrawn. probably why i never played much tournaments and stuck with cash games.

unbelievable how backward montana is. they are having 100 degree days this week with winds coming and with multiple forest fires burning, and they arent banning camp fires in the woods.

and many of our large fires are started by idiots leaving a campfire unattended or just leaving it altogether when they leave burning.

air quality has gotten bad in the northwest except on the coasts. and is going to get worse except for brief breaks. unless some miracle happens and we get a few days of torrential rains.
too hot and low humidity is a killer. the woods are going to keep burning.

not much chance now to see the Perseid meteor shower. smoke is hiding the stars.
those not in the pacific northwest can probably get good views of shooting stars.
its something i look forward to every year.
yesterday though it was pretty good with about one a minute across the sky.

many times that i lose a hand after i look back i find i shouldnt have been in in the first place because of the action or the player. something to think about.

property sales are just starting to slow down in some spots in the u.s.
time to keep an eye on that as when prices actually start falling in home sales then bad things happen.

They say this one is going to be real bad. Nations will fail.

My friend from Orange County just sold her townhouse* - it only took three days being on the market. I think she did it at the correct time, housing prices there are still a sellers market. But probably not for long. The crystal ball on economic outlook is always fuzzy. Some sectors of the country still have underdeveloped housing needs. Fortunately I need not worry.

*She is fleeing back to Italy, for her own reasons.

how about maybe her reason was she was in orange county.
08-17-2018 , 11:21 PM
That was certainly a contributing factor!

Hi ray z, I’ll post a poker story here sometime about a week from now when I’m sober.

that stupid black bear is still hanging around my yard getting into my fruit trees. today he was running up toward my house about 50 yards away. decent sized one also.
he keeps breaking down my chokecherry bushes too.

todd brunson is having his yearly poker tournament in town. it picks up the rooms action for sure. alot of them come out of the woodwork to play.
he also hauls a few vegas players up there.
