thanks fsc as you live over that way closer and have a good handle on those games and know whats going on.
our game is good but with the holidays around and it only being h.o.s. it has been breaking up early. but great while it is going.

hope everyone had a good turkey day out there. i did and of course overate and stuffed pie in my face as well. at least i wasnt sick with an upset stomach as i was smart enough not to drink when i do that. a turkey dinner is probably my favorite thing and funny its so hard to find a place that serves it other than the holidays.
but best for me or i would be fat as a hog waiting for slaughter.
11-26-2016 , 11:56 AM
Lay off the stuffing! Turkey is a staple at the Vegas buffets so never a craving here.
11-26-2016 , 04:20 PM
I had excellent turkey with homemade stuffing. And excellent pumpkin pie - homemade of course. Turkey was fresh, not the pre-frozen kind.
11-26-2016 , 07:58 PM
since i ate a turkey on thanksgiving ive been giving the bunch around my house a generous helping of sunflower seeds every day. and no i dont eat those guys.
they cluck at me and leave me presents in my driveway to step on.

No idea what they are spreading these days.
The information I gave on Billings and Bozeman is current as I was in both those towns just a couple of weeks ago. The information I gave on Missoula is dated as I haven't been here in awhile. But I'm here now and have the updates.

The poker room at the Silvertip closed six weeks ago.

The game at the Silver Slipper has dwindled down to just Fri. and Sat. nights at 7 PM. 1-3 NL.

The Silver Creek Casino at the Hilton is the strong room in Missoula now. This is their schedule:

Sundays 4 PM, 4-8 Dealers Choice

Mondays 7 PM, 4-8 Omaha 8 with half kill.

Tuesdays 7 PM, 4-8 Holdem and Omaha Hi, At 9 PM it switches to 1-2 PLH & PLO

Wednesdays 7 PM, 4-8 Holdem, 1-2 NL

Thursdays 7 PM, 1-2 PLH

Fridays 7 PM, 4-8 Holdem, 1-2 PLH & PLO

Saturdays 7 PM, 4-8 Holdem, 1-2 PLH & PLO

Lucky Lil's on Dewey in Butte used to have a 4-8 Holdem game. I'll be there in a few days and give an update.

Gillette, Wyoming is on 1-90 going east and has several private games. I haven't played there but have heard talk of it. Poker is legal in Wyoming but the game can't be raked. Dealers work for tips. You either have to ask around or google "Gillette Poker" and you may find a contact.

Carnivore, one more thing. For a long time now Deadwood only has games on the weekends, Friday thru Sunday.
11-29-2016 , 09:46 PM
thanks buddy for the good update on the games. as the take of the rake goes up the games get smaller and smaller over the years and inflation eats up whats left.
good to see you are still running around. if you can get into a spot or two there you might want to try wyoming.

Wow, so much good detailed information there. As a traveller in an unfamiliar place, searching for and attending unadvertised games is a no go for me. So anything in Wyoming seems to be out.

In the Deadwood regional thread it was mentioned that the "big" game runs on Wednesday's at Cadillac Jacks.

I prefer to play 1-2nl at the minimum, so hopefully I can find a game of at least that size every night as I go. Looks like there's some options. Playing some PLO too would be fun.

Carnivore, I'm taking Ray's advice and taking a look at the Wyoming games. I've heard from others that the games are juicy. I did some googling this morning and found out that they have poker in the bars, they just don't advertise it. I read some yelp reviews of the Sundance Lounge in Gillette that has a game.

The one thing that appeals to me about Wyoming is no rake. My peeve about the Montana games is no rake discount when the game gets shorthanded. I can't beat those games as the rake is to stiff. I have to get up when the game goes shorthanded. But in Wyoming I don't think I would mind playing shorthanded at all.

I went to trivago and found you can get a decent hotel room in Gillette for $50 or less. I think I'll take a trip down there early next year, hit the Sundance Lounge, meet the poker players, and start from there.

I stopped into Butte this morning and picked up the schedule for the poker room at Lucky Lil's on Dewey. Game starts at 7 every night.

Monday 4-8 Omaha 8

Tuesday 1-2 PLH, PLO

Wednesday 2-5 Joker Poker

Thursday 1-2 PLH, PLO

Friday 1-2 NLH

Saturday 1-2 NLH

Sunday Tournament Day at 5 PM. $40 buy-in Live game to follow

Carnivore if you are coming into Butte from the west then take the Harrison Street exit. At the bottom of the ramp take a right. The next street is Dewey where you take a right again. Lucky Lil's is a couple of blocks up the street.

and knowing many of the butte players that ive seen around the games would be considered quite good by any standards. although you have to see how the rake goes and whether you happen to find a day the rocks are there.

Again thanks a bunch for the info. What is Joker Poker?

Also, any recommendations for good parks to exercise the dog on route? My plan is pretty much to drive an average of 6 hours a day, and taking the dog for some good exercise during the day, hopefully in interesting parks. Then getting a room for the night (mainly for the dog) and then going out to play a few hours.

I'm thinking of spreading 4 nights, maybe 5, travelling east, with the first night being in Spokane, and the 5th night being at the Horsehoe in Council Bluffs Iowa, after that going further but with destinations not flexible and not relevnt in this thread.

two to start-- spokane has a great park along the river with a nice falls and things to see.
missoula as well with a walking trail runs along the river downtown.

as you head east there is so much open country that all the towns have parks as well as county and state parks. easy to find.

There's a hand from 1984 that I still remember today. It was only the second time I had played holdem and there was a joker in the deck. This was in a bar in White Sulphur Springs.

I was a stranger in town. The game got started because I seen the poker table and asked the bartender what time the game started. He made some phone calls. The Chief of Police, the town barber, and the feed store owner were some of those that showed up. I was holding my own in the game even though I didn't really know what I was doing.

I had to use the restroom so got up from the table. When I came out of the restroom the dealer had the deck in the air and had already dealt a card to three positions. He looked at me and said "Are you in?" I said yes so he dealt me in.

I was dealt the Ace-Queen of Clubs. The flop came all clubs and I was one card off the straight flush. The turn and river cards were also clubs but I didn't make the straight flush. I got in a raising war with the Chief of Police and then he showed me the Joker-King of Clubs.

I always thought I got duked in that hand. But what are you going to do when it's the Chief of Police? LOL!

we played with the joker in montana for a few years. 500 buyin no limit. game was crazy. but if you wanted to win a big pot you usually needed to have the joker in your hand.
the game bankrupted all the gamblers in town as they played without it.

Yeah I've played in many dealers choice games, and we quickly realized Wild Cards are not good for the game at all, as pretty much any savvy player won't give any action if he doesn't have one. However, if people do play regular strong hands against joker hands, they will be easy suckers for the taking. I'd love to hit that game and see what's going on.

so we got hit with the minus zero temps and some snow. not fun at all. i am feeding birds, turkeys and some food for the deer. not much just so they dont have to die, the weaker ones anyway.
at least i get motivated to play poker as there isnt anything else to do except walk around looking into your telephone like the rest of the zombies you see everywhere.
poker games okay as a few players pop in as they are freezing as well. but other wise the world up here goes in slow motion when cold.
12-09-2016 , 09:24 PM
I had to replace the battery in my car yesterday. Had to put on the long johns too. Carnivore, I hope you aren't coming through in December. We're stuck in a deep freeze, and it isn't going to end soon.
12-13-2016 , 11:39 AM
with the cold temps, the poker games are awfully slow. they are great games but not as many players coming in and the games are not lasting very long. that may be okay though. games are good and fun.
12-13-2016 , 04:39 PM
Didn't know you even had this going Ray. Will follow. Love the information on Montana. Wyoming and Deadwood games. I still do not play all that much any more but on the rare occasion it is nice to know what the options. All in all pretty slim pickin's for a guy who prefers Low end limits games for the fun of it.

Yeah I've been watching the forecasts, a little intimidating. The weather looks like it warms up a fair bit after this weekend fortunately.

glad you came over to the dark side fish. anytime something pops in your head its welcome.
12-14-2016 , 12:46 AM
Dark side, lol. Most of my friends would assume I was already on the dark side. I will try to make acceptable observations. I so enjoy reading what you write and seems likes other input here is good as well.
